Slot Overview
Munchy Milo is the latest Hacksaw Gaming release, and this 7×7 cluster pays slots combines a sugary sweet-themed landscape with… space exploration! There’s a lot going on, from Jolt Frames and Chain Reactions to Free Spins and a maximum win potential of up to 10,000x, but is it any good? Or is Munchy Milo yet another Hacksaw release without any real substance to it? Demoslot investigates.
Gameplay & Bonus Features
Munchy Milo is played on a 7×7 grid using cluster pays mechanics. Wins are formed by connecting five or more identical symbols horizontally or vertically. You can bet between €0.10 and €100 per spin, and the game offers a default RTP of 96%. Now, unusually for a cluster pays game, Munchy Milo doesn’t use cascading reels.
On every spin, the Jolt Frame mechanic can become live. At the start of a spin, a Jolt Frame may land on a symbol and activate after wins have been paid. When it does, it spreads in a straight line: vertically, horizontally, or in multiple directions depending on its type, and it then converts symbols in its path into the symbol it originally landed on. If it spreads over a Wild, that Wild gains an additive 2x multiplier, and this increases by x2+ if it’s hit by another Jolt Frame.
Now, if a Jolt Frame spreads onto a matching symbol, it triggers a Chain Reaction, and this creates a new Jolt Frame in that position and causes further spreads. This can continue across the grid, and it’s possible to fill it completely, if you’re very lucky!
Landing three Scatters triggers Lift Off Luck, awarding 10 free spins with an increased chance of Jolt Frames. Two or three scatters during the bonus add +2 or +4 spins, respectively, and there’s also a 4-scatter bonus: Gravity Groove. This also begins you with 10 free games, but in this feature, Wilds that are hit by Jolt Frames become sticky, and they also continue to gain additive x2 multipliers each time they’re struck.
Finally, Munchy Milo also contains a hidden epic bonus: Going Bananas. This is triggered by landing 5 Scatters, and it, again, awards 10 free games, but this time, you’re guaranteed a Jolt Frame on every spin.
Bonus Buy/FeatureSpins
Munchy Milo includes several Bonus Buy/FeatureSpins options:
- BonusHunt FeatureSpins: Costs 2x and makes each spin 3x more likely to trigger a bonus.
- Astronomical FeatureSpins: Costs 50x and guarantees a Jolt Frame on each spin.
- Lift Off Luck Free Spins: Costs 80x.
- Gravity Groove: Costs 200x.

Theme & Design
Munchy Milo transports you to a brightly coloured candy planet, and it’s all being discovered in real-time by Milo, a space-exploring monkey who can be seen wearing a glass-domed helmet!
The background is designed using pastel skies, sugary hills, and fruits, and there’s no denying it has a charming look to it. Still, like virtually all Hacksaw Gaming slots, with Le Bunny and Eternal Duel being a couple of recent good examples, it has that distinctive “Hacksaw” look and feel to it, and that’s not one that we’re overly keen on.
Still, Munchy Milo plays smoothly, runs well, and is fully mobile optimised, too, so you shouldn’t run into any issues playing it.
Pros
- Win up to 10,000x.
- The Chain Reaction mechanic is quite exciting.
- Three different modes of the Free Spins bonus.
Cons
- Mechanics are very similar to Sun Princess.
- No Cascading Reels which, honestly, feels a bit weird.
- FeatureSpins/Bonus Buy options unavailable in some regions.
Final Thoughts
Munchy Milo... hmm, what to say. Here at Demoslot, we have to be honest; we’re confused about why Hacksaw Gaming slots are so popular. Yes, they have produced some fairly entertaining games, but mostly? They reuse the same mechanics with slightly different skins, and while these mechanics were novel at first, at this point, it feels like we’re just waiting to see which skin/theme they apply to an old game rather than getting excited about new releases.
Yes, Munchy Milo is OK; the Jolt Frame and Chain Reaction mechanics remain the heart of the experience, and they can produce some decent wins. Still, the lack of Cascading Reels feels... weird... and there’s simply no escaping the fact that the game is so similar to Sun Princess; it’s basically a clone.
So, yes, the maximum win potential is OK at 10,000x, and it’s nice to see a Hidden Epic Bonus. Still, if you want something new and innovative, Munchy Milo won’t be for you, and it’s not a game we’ll be playing either; it's slightly boring, unoriginal, and, for us, plain.
