Slot Overview

Monopoly Deluxe is a Megaways-powered video slot from Big Time Gaming, and it’s a spin-off, or “remake”, of their original Monopoly Megaways, a game that had a LOT of potential but failed, rather dismally, to deliver. With up to 117,649 ways to win active on each spin, a maximum win potential of 49,920x, and plenty of Monopoly-inspired bonuses and features, can Monopoly Deluxe deliver what the previous release failed to? Let’s find out.

Theme & Design

When Big Time Gaming’s Monopoly Megaways was first released, some said it would become one of the most popular online slots in history. Indeed, looking at other Monopoly games like Monopoly: The Big Event and Monopoly Super Wheel Bonus, it’s easy to see why some would have assumed it would automatically become a hit.

Reality, however, looked very different. To most, the game was a total let-down. It was slow-paced, boring, and, frankly, unexciting, a big shame! So, now that Big Time Gaming is back with another Monopoly-themed game, years later, there’s a lot of pressure.

Monopoly Deluxe stays true to its iconic source material, and the slot recreates the familiar Monopoly board beneath the reels. You’ll see a variety of iconic locations like Mayfair, Park Lane, and Kings Cross Station, and visually, it’s alright; not amazing. We say that because, visually, it looks VERY similar to the original Monopoly Megaways, but it’s refined in places, at least.

Monopoly Deluxe Gameplay & Bonus Features

Monopoly Deluxe is played on BTG’s iconic Megaways layout: 6 reels and between 2 and 7 symbols per row. This means there can be up to 117,649 ways to win active on every spin. Wins are formed by matching symbols from left to right on adjacent reels, and all winning symbols trigger reactions, cascading away to allow new symbols to fall into place. You can bet from €0.20 to €100, and the game operates at an RTP of 96.84%, which is actually very decent.

Like its predecessor, the base game revolves around the Monopoly board, which you can see directly below the reels. Every win moves Mr Monopoly forward, triggering effects based on where he lands. Landing on properties increases the win multiplier by +1 per house and +5 per hotel, while landing on GO awards Max Megaways, filling all reels with the maximum number of symbols.

Chance and Community Chest spaces can trigger extra moves, Max Megaways, or the Free Spins, so there’s a decent amount of action to be found in the base game.

The Free Spins can also be triggered by landing 3 Scatter symbols anywhere in view, and doing so awards 12 free games. During the feature, the win multiplier from the triggering spin carries over and continues to grow, in typical Big Time Gaming fashion. Any houses and hotels from the base game also carry over.

During the bonus round, you’ll also notice that Utilities and Train Stations become active. Landing on Utilities increases the win multiplier, while landing on Train Stations awards extra free spins.

Bonus Buy

Monopoly Deluxe includes a straightforward Bonus Buy option that allows you to purchase 12 free spins for 90x.

Pros

  • Huge maximum win potential of 49,920x.
  • The Monopoly theme is, for many, iconic.
  • Clear, accessible presentation and multiple features.

Cons

  • Disappointingly similar to the original.
  • Base game payouts can be low without multipliers.
  • Getting anywhere even CLOSE to the maximum win potential seems... highly unlikely.

Monopoly Deluxe Slot Review Final Thoughts

Big Time Gaming is a software provider we sometimes wish we could pick up and shake; they had so much potential, so much creativity, and so much ambition - and they’ve thrown pretty much all of it away in the last 5-6 years.

When they burst onto the scene in the mid-2010s, their games were iconic. Dragon Born, Bonanza, and Danger High Voltage were loved pretty much universally, and the studio looked set to become the next Microgaming or NetEnt. Then... they started licensing out the Megaways engine. While we can’t blame them (as they likely made a small fortune from doing so), the market became instantly saturated with hundreds of Megaways games.

Since then, they’ve struggled to maintain pretty much any momentum, and studios like Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City, and Push Gaming have taken over. And it’s releases like Monopoly Deluxe that show us why BTG has just... declined so rapidly.

The main issue with the original Monopoly Megaways was that it was just... boring. Having to build up properties and hotels, only to trigger bonuses that don’t end up even using them? The players were bored. It was bland. It was confusing, especially compared to the fast-paced and enjoyable titles we used to see from Light & Wonder back in the day.

Why, then, with the shot of releasing a spinoff, would Big Time Gaming choose to... pretty much re-release the same game? Yes, Monopoly Deluxe has its differences; the addition of the Max Megaways, for example, and a Bonus Buy. Overall though? It’s virtually the same game, and there’s just nothing exciting here.

And, we say that with all due respect to BTG: we aren’t trying to be overly critical, but why they didn’t learn from their mistakes from the original game is just beyond us. Yes, if you DID like the original - you’ll probably enjoy Monopoly Deluxe. But for us?

In 2026, it’s just not good enough, and it’s yet one more release that shows Big Time Gaming is either out of their depth in today’s market or doesn’t care enough to create something that takes them back to the levels of success they enjoyed in 2016/17.
