Game Overview
It isn’t always easy to pretend to be enthusiastic about a slot theme you’ve encountered a hundred times before, especially when you play and write about as many as I do. However, my thought process is that the theme rarely matters, even if you see the same symbols repeatedly; it’s the gameplay and features that determine a slot’s quality. The theme in question today is Irish luck, which means the same old leprechauns, rainbows, four-leaf clovers, and pots of gold I, and most likely many of you, have seen countless times before. That said, it doesn’t bother me nearly as much as a few other popular themes, as it’s usually cheery, and I have Irish roots (not the luck, unfortunately). The slot I’m about to put through its paces is Miss Rainbow: Hold & Win, a title from Fantasma Games with a 5×3 reel matrix, a 95.80% RTP, and a 1,000x the stake max win.
As I mentioned, the gameplay and features make or break a slot, and this one has several to discuss. There’s a free spins bonus featuring guaranteed Mega-sized symbols on every spin, a Hold & Win game with money symbols, and three fixed jackpots, the biggest of which is worth 1,000 times the stake. Are they enough to ensure you’ll play this slot for an extended length of time? I guess we’ll find out.
Alternatively, if you’d rather skip past my review, which I put together after two hours of thorough testing and analysis, you can just play the Miss Rainbow: Hold & Win slot demo below. It’s free, by the way!
Miss Rainbow Hold & Win Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
If you don’t believe me when I say there are countless slots with a similar theme to Miss Rainbow: Hold & Win, I double dare, no, triple dare you to check our Irish slots page here. Looking through those slots, a few did jump out at me as being worth a recommendation in this review. 4ThePlayer’s Lucky Leprechauns is one for starters, while Pop O’ Gold from AvatarUX is another good shout. You’ll also find many of the original games in this genre available to play, with the Irish Luck demo being a firm favourite with visitors to our site.
I guess it’s time to get on with the paytable in Miss Rainbow: Hold & Win, even if I know what’s coming symbol-wise. The Miss Rainbow Leprechaun Wild symbol tops the bill by offering a return of 20x the stake for a 5-symbol combination and also substitutes for all regular symbols if it can help create or enhance a combo. Sharing the 20x return is the Mushroom, while the Four-Leaf Clover can deliver payouts of up to 16x, the Mug of Beer 12x and the last of the premiums, the Horseshoe, has an 8x return for a line of five. Finally, we come to the low pays, where the Ace, King, Queen, and Jack all share payouts of 2x for a five of a kind win.
Wrapping up this section, we find ourselves at the bet selection, where players can get involved in real money play for as little as €0.25 a spin, with the maximum stake reaching €200.
Miss Rainbow Hold & Win Slot Base Game & Modifiers
Miss Rainbow: Hold & Win utilises a classic 5×3 reel configuration with 25 fixed paylines. Most of you’ll know what’s needed to create wins, but for the rest, you just need to land three or more matching symbols across a payline.
Miss Rainbow Hold & Win Slot Bonus Features
There’s not just one bonus feature on Miss Rainbow: Hold & Win, but two, which is a nice change from most of the new slot releases I have reviewed recently. You’ve probably guessed one of them considering the slot’s title gives away a big hint, while the other is a free spins bonus.
Free Spins Feature
I’ll clear up the free spins bonus first, simply because the Hold & Win bonus is what I’d consider the main event. You’ll receive 5 free spins if scatter symbols occupy positions on the first, third, and fifth reels on the same spin. You’ll also receive another 5 spins if you manage to do the same during the bonus round, and there is no limit on how many times you can do this. As for the feature itself, each spin will reveal a Mega 9×9 symbol on the middle three reels.
Hold & Win Bonus & Jackpots
If six or more Pots of Gold symbols land on the same spin, they trigger the Hold & Win bonus game. Those symbols, which hold cash values of a multiplier of your stake, remain on the reels, which will now only reveal them or the Mini and Maxi jackpot symbols. You receive three respins which reset whenever another Pot of Gold or Jackpot symbol lands. The Hold & Win bonus game ends when you run out of respins or fill all positions on the reels.
Pros
- There are two bonus features to trigger.
Cons
- Nothing new or unique to add to the established Irish slot formula.A 1,000x the stake max win (Really?)
Miss Rainbow Hold & Win Slot Review Final Thoughts
Miss Rainbow Hold & Win might sound great as it has two bonus features that can be triggered, but at the end of the day, it's just another run of the mill Irish-themed slot, and not a very good one at that.
