Game Overview

Along with being the peak of entertainment in many retirement home communal rooms, the humble deck of playing cards has been an instrumental feature of the gambling industry for as long as most people will remember. From underground betting clubs to high-end casino blackjack tables and televised poker tournaments, these simple cards are extremely versatile. Provider Jili Games has drawn on the theme to create its hit title, Mega Ace. It’s a medium volatility, six-reel slot featuring an above-average RTP of 97.00% and a potential maximum win of 1,500x.

You’d be forgiven for thinking you’d entered a scene from an explosion at a playing card factory as you load up the game, as you’re confronted with the large six-reel grid covered in card graphics. Between two to six symbols can land on each of those reels, which creates an impressive maximum of 46,465 payways. A series of multiplier values are displayed above the reel set, and every winning combination will move you along these awards to a maximum of x5. You’ll also notice that some symbols that land on the grid have a gold-coloured backing. If any of these are involved in a win, they will turn wild, and if any of those wilds are subsequently activated, then there is a chance they’ll turn into a Greater Joker, transforming a number of additional grid positions wild. Landing three scatters will trigger the free spins round, which features enhanced multiplier values.

Considering the huge number of games that can be played with cards, it can sometimes take a bit of practice to learn the rules of a new game. It’s best to have a few trial rounds before diving in with real money, so fortunately, we have the Mega Ace demo slot for you to warm up on, and it’s available to play for free below!

Mega Ace Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols

Mega Ace Paytable

With the heavy utilisation and popularity of various card games across the gambling spectrum, it’s no wonder that this theme has also inspired several other slot releases. Along with paper cards, certain cultures also use symbol marked tiles to play table games. This can be seen in developer PG Soft’s creation of Mahjong Ways 2. A slot inspired by the famous Chinese casino game, it’s a five-reel video slot featuring a huge potential maximum win of 100,000x. Or, if you’d prefer a bit of poker play? It can be incredibly frustrating going up against other players, whether online or in person, with far too many bad beats for my liking, but it’ll be just you versus the computer in our Video Poker section. Go and check it out. Next up, however, we’ll be taking a further look into the features of Mega Ace, and we’re kicking things off over at the pays section.

Anyone with any prior experience of card games will be very familiar with the order of the symbols, and the paytable on Mega Ace sticks to that well known format. The Ace can be high or low depending on the game, but here it sits at the top of the pile, returning 2.5x your total stake value per way of six symbols. Next, it’s the King and the Queen, which are both worth 1.5x, followed by the Jack at 1x. The lower value symbols are the Spades and Hearts, both returning 0.5x, the Diamonds and Clubs, with equal values of 0.3x, and finally, the 9, 8, and 7, which all pay r for a winning combination of sox.

The stake options on Mega Ace range from a low of €0.10 to a high of €100.00. There are 15 selections available, ensuring a suitable value will be available for all real money players.

Mega Ace Slot Base Game

Mega Ace Base Game
Mega Ace base game

Mega Ace uses a six-reel grid, with two to six row positions on each reel, which varies with each spin, creating up to 46,656 payways. As the term payways would suggest, fixed paylines do not exist here, and all winning combinations are formed by matching a minimum of three corresponding symbols from left to right, commencing on the leftmost reel, regardless of row position. Any symbols involved in a win are then removed from the reels prior to the next cascade, where additional symbols drop down from the top to offer the opportunity for further wins to take place.

Multipliers

Above the reels, you will notice five multiplier values displayed: x1, x2, x3, x4, and x5. At the start of any main game spin, this multiplier value is set to x1. Whenever a winning combination occurs, this value will move to the next highest increment prior to the next cascade. Once it reaches x5, it cannot go any higher in the base game, and any further wins within that spin will be multiplied by x5.

Golden Cards & Jokers

Gold coloured symbols can appear on reels two, three, and four. These are normal paytable symbols with a golden background, and any involved in a winning combination will transform into a wild symbol, known as a ‘Lesser Joker’, before the next cascade. If any of these Lesser Jokers are subsequently involved in a win, they will either be removed from the grid or, on occasion, transform into a ‘Greater Joker.’ These greater jokers will distribute a number of randomly positioned Lesser Joker wilds around the grid, the number of which is based on the row height of the Greater Joker.

Extra Bets

Players can choose to toggle on the Extra Bets button, which will increase their base stake by 50%. In return, the lowest x1 multiplier will be removed in the base game, meaning all wins are immediately paid at x2, and the top end of x5 can be reached more quickly. The same concept applies if triggering the bonus when Extra Bet is turned on, as the x2 will be removed, and all wins will immediately pay at x4.

Mega Ace Slot Bonus Features

Mega Ace Free Spins Feature
Mega Ace free spins feature

Landing three scatter symbols on the reels during any one spin will trigger the free spins feature, awarding ten free spins. Each additional scatter symbol that lands on top of the required three will award a further two starting spins.

Free Spins Feature

During this bonus, the multiplier values seen at the top of the screen are doubled compared to the base game, rising to x2, x4, x6, x8, and x10. Three or more scatter symbols landing in one spin in this feature will award a further five free spins.

Bonus Buy

For those in a suitable jurisdiction, a bonus buy option is available at the cost of 44.5x the selected stake value.

Pros

  • Enjoyable gameplay with several base game features.
  • Above average RTP of 97%.
  • Low bonus buy cost

Cons

  • Low potential and maximum win of only 1,500x.
  • The bonus is far too similar to the base game.
  • Greater Joker rarely activates.

Mega Ace Slot Review Final Thoughts

Of all the Jili Gaming slots I’ve played, this is probably one of their better efforts. The inclusion of the multiplier system and golden framed symbols adds an extra layer of enjoyment on top of the Megaways style cascading reel gameplay, which makes this a reasonably good slot. However, it is slightly let down by its unambitious bonus feature and the general low win potential of the game, which is reflected in its maximum win cap of 1,500x. It’s also worth mentioning that several key elements in this slot appear to have been influenced by PG Soft mechanics, who, like Jili Gaming, are also an Asian provider.
