Game Overview
I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel like my local Police Department is anywhere close to being WILD enough. I make this statement based on my hard-earned experience playing Max Win W.P.D from iSoftBet. Max Win, by the way, does not only refer to the winnings you can expect to receive whilst playing this game; oh no! Max Win also happens to be the name of an Ace Detective with the WPD, and this guy is really serious about being WILD. This ten-pay line game has a theoretical maximum win of 30,000x your bet. Still, unless that number includes some serious edge cases that will probably never occur even if you spent your whole life playing this game – the real maximum win is perhaps somewhere in the region of half that number.
Max Win W.P.D. doesn’t have many features to report on, but it is also a great example of a game that doesn’t need them to be fun. There are many similarities between this game and the original Dead or Alive by NetEnt, a game which some players would now say is getting a little long in the tooth. They would have a valid point – Dead or Alive has long been succeeded by a superior sequel; it is still a fun slot. I bring this up as Max Win W.P.D. includes a similar sticky wilds bonus round and little else in the way of features; yet, this is still a fun game.
Do you also believe that your local Police Department is not WILD enough? If so, I suggest you relieve some of your pent-up frustration by playing a few spins on our free demo slot of Max Win W.P.D, available below.
Max Win W.p.d Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The Police have a rough time when it comes to popular culture; almost every force around the world is typically represented as being corrupt, incompetent, unfair, or some combination of all three whenever they appear on television, in film, or video games. To be fair, many Police forces do make a lot of mistakes, and the militarisation of the Police in the United States is undoubtedly an area of legitimate concern. At the same time, I find it difficult to believe that the majority of people working for these organisations sign up with the intention to do a poor job, profit from corruption, or otherwise work to harm the people they are supposed to protect and serve. Perhaps it would help if they were not responsible for shutting down The Rave you and your friends are partying at or stubbornly refusing to fail at catching those feisty old robbers who you believe pulled off the perfect Big Heist last summer. What a bunch of spoilsports!
Thankfully, the protagonist of this slot, Max Win, does not waste his time on such pointless pursuits. Despite his old school, badass, chain-smoking detective appearance, Max still somehow manages to come second to his own badge on the paytable of his slot. The highest-paying symbol in the game is the wild, however, with a return of 100x your stake for each completed pay line of five-of-a-kind. The police shield is the highest-paying regular symbol at 20x for all five before we finally get to Max with a return of 10x your bet for a fully completed pay line. Max also has a partner, a short-haired female who doesn’t look like she has any time for wasting and will pay you 8x your bet for a five-of-a-kind combination of her symbol. The last of the high-paying symbols is Max’s trusty sniffer dog, who isn’t named in the game, but I have little doubt he is also called Max; he will pay you 6x your bet for a full pay line. As a ten payline game, there isn’t much room between the high-paying symbols and the royals, and there are even a couple of medium-paying symbols in between, all of which make up a perfect curve from 5x down to 2x your bet.
As for the betting range, iSoftBet usually keeps things sensible in this regard; I half expected them to go crazy in the case of Max Win – W.P.D, but they have stuck to their usual methods by offering a minimum and maximum bet of €0.10 and €10.00 respectively. This makes sense, as this is a very volatile game with the potential to pay big if it happens to be your lucky day.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game of Max Win W.P.D. makes no attempt to hide its simplicity. It’s a typical 5×3 reel game, with just a single sort of modifier and one bonus round to break up the action. You’ll need three matching symbols on a payline starting from the left to collect the winnings on the paytable we described in the previous section or three bonus scatter symbols anywhere on the screen to bag yourself some free spins. That really is all there is to it!
Wild Paying Department Modifier
Although this is listed on the paytable like a modifier, it is more of a notification than an actual change to the reels. At the start of any spin, Max may appear on the left – if he does, the game is telling you that your current spin is guaranteed to be a bonus win or a big paying hit of more than 25x your bet.
In some ways, I dislike this – sometimes it lets you know you are going to hit a feature before the final scatter drops in, whilst in others, it reveals that you must be going to hit something good on the next reel whilst the spin is still in play. It would have been nice if Max could be skipped when the fast play mode was enabled, as I can imagine not all players will appreciate his appearances.
Max Win W.p.d Slot Bonus Features
Hit three scatter symbols during the base game, and you will be rewarded with ten free spins in the main bonus round. This number increases to 12 or 15 free spins if you hit four or five scatters, respectively.
Free Spins
During this mode, any wilds that land on the reels will remain static for the remainder of the bonus round. Should two wilds land on a single reel, both will gain a 2x multiplier; if a full stack of three wilds cluster on the same reel, this multiplier will increase to 3x. If multiple wilds land on a single line, the highest multiplier will be used, rather than them being multiplied together; this is the only downer in what is otherwise a great feature.
If you manage to hit at least one wild on all five reels, the game will add two additional free spins to your remaining counter. That isn’t quite as generous as Dead or Alive and certainly isn’t as good as a full re-trigger, but it sure is better than nothing. Just like NetEnt’s famous game, the majority of your entries into this feature will result in small wins, although you will probably win slightly more in Max Win W.P.D. on average.
Occasionally, however, things will get truly crazy, and you could win several thousand times your stake. Those are the bonus rounds that we all play for, and whilst they don’t come often, the rewards when they do always make the wait worthwhile!
Max Win W.p.d Slot Review Final Thoughts
It’s obvious where iSoftBet got the inspiration for Max Win – W.P.D., but the fact that another popular title heavily influences the bonus round isn’t a good reason not to play this slot. Max Win sports an excellent presentation, an exciting bonus round, and the potential for a win of more than 10,000x your bet – that, my friends, is all you need to know!
