Game Overview
This is the first BGaming online slot I have played which doesn’t use regular payways or paylines as its primary payout mechanic; instead, the Lucky Farm Bonanza online slot utilises a 6×5 grid where payouts are determined by the number of identical symbols which land on each spin. The RTP is a solid 96%, matching the industry average, whilst the maximum jackpot of 15,000x your stake is well above the average regarding online slots. It’s not quite the insanity of Megaways games with their 50k+ jackpot payouts, but how many of those do we ever see anyway? I’d take a punt that we’ll unquestionably be seeing a few 15,000x hits from this game on YouTube in the near future!
Feature-wise, we have two bonus buy options, including a UKGC-friendly bonus chance boost option at a slightly increased bet per spin and a full-on bonus buy which will only be available to players in certain jurisdictions. A free spins bonus round is also included, awarding up to 30 initial free spins with the ability to boost your counter by hitting further scatters during the feature.
As ever, you simply must play this slot to get a good feel for what it is all about, so don’t waste any time; fire up our free demo slot of Lucky Farm Bonanza as soon as you‘ve finished reading my review… you wouldn’t want to miss out on any of my dad jokes or supposedly valuable tips and tricks, would you!
Lucky Farm Bonanza Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The Lucky Farm Bonanza slot game immediately reminded me of Playtech’s Great Blue clone Funky Fruits Farm, and whilst the two games are very different in the way they play, the visual styling is highly similar, and both games have a top-notch presentation that looks great on whatever screen you choose to play these games on. The symbols are a mixture of fruits and animal heads drawn in a very cutesy style and are exactly how I want my animals to look before they end up on my plate. Vegans, with their horrible pictures of slaughterhouses and the like, we know what you are getting at, but at the end of the day, we all need to eat, and the Lucky Farm Bonanza video slot gives me a nice warm fuzzy feeling … those pigs just want to be bacon, look at them! You tell me they don’t look happy. It’s beautiful.
Over to the paytable then, remember that in this game, we have no pay lines and no pay ways, so all wins are the number of matching symbols awarded based present on the screen when the reels stop spinning. Thankfully, BGaming has implemented the code to update the paytable as you change your stake, making it extremely simple to understand how much your winning combinations are worth. The scatter symbol is at the top of the tree today – this is a refreshing change from how the industry seems to be moving away from paying for the scatter and wild symbols, a convention I seriously dislike. Six will pay you 100x your stake, but note that if you only hit five of them, this drops to just 5x your stake… seems a bit harsh, doesn’t it?
Next up, the high-paying symbols are those lovely-looking animal heads… fancy a steak? The cow will pay you 50x your bet if you can hit 12 or more of them simultaneously, 25x your bet for 10/11, or 10x your bet for 8 or 9. Any less than eight… no dice, I’m afraid, and this is the same throughout the paytable. I think the blue animal is a rabbit, but he and his yellow chum are both a bit ambiguous to me. Well, the blue guy pays 25x for 12 or more, the yellow one pays 15x for 12 or more, and the pig – yes, I can certainly tell who this guy is meant to be – will chuck you 12x your stake for the maximum combination of 12 or more symbols.
The remainder of the paytable comprises blueberries, apples, sweetcorn, peppers, and tomatoes, which range in value from 10x to 2x for the maximum combination of 12 symbols.
The betting range is interesting – it starts at a low roller-friendly €0.20 but tops out at just €12.00 per spin. I’m going to guess that this is because of the extremely high maximum win of 15,000x your bet. Even at €12.00 per spin, that’s still €180,000 if somebody hits the jackpot playing max bet. That may be small fry for the bigger online casinos, but it’s a serious chunk of change for the lower-tier operators.
Base Game & Modifiers
The first thing I will say about the base game is that you should keep the sound on – it might just be me, but the sound of the symbols dropping into place is one of those weirdly satisfying feelings… I believe the newer generation refers to this as “ASMR” nowadays!
So, we have a 6×5 playfield, symbols drop into place when you hit spin, and if you manage to catch eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid, they will immediately explode, and you will be paid, after which new symbols will drop into their place, and should those new symbols complete a further set of eight or more, the process will repeat.
Bonus Chance Boost
For a 25% premium on top of your regular stake, you can increase your odds of hitting a bonus by 2x. This sounds like a good deal and probably is. However, I feel that the developer should reveal the odds of hitting the bonus in the first place if they offer a feature such as this.
If I am being offered twice the usual odds, I’d like to know what the regular odds were, to be honest, wouldn’t you? That’s my only gripe with this, and I did notice a significant increase in the number of bonus rounds I hit with the option switched on compared to leaving it off. For the sake of 25%, it’s almost certainly worth it, especially if you are a low roller playing for €0.20 per spin.
Lucky Farm Bonanza Slot Free Spins Feature
Making your way to the bonus round requires you to hit a minimum of four scatter symbols (or you can use the bonus buy function, if available). Four will get you ten free spins, whilst five scatters increases this to 20, and if you can somehow land all six scatters simultaneously, you can start your feature with a mammoth 30 free spins. I don’t imagine that will happen very often – I only ever hit four during testing – but it’s undoubtedly possible, and somebody will hit it at some point – hopefully, we will get to see it on YouTube!
During the free spins feature, there is an additional multiplier symbol that is not present during the base game. Whenever one of these lands on the screen, it will assign a random multiplier of between 2x and 100x to the value of all winning combinations that occur during that free spin. If you are lucky enough to hit several tumbles whilst one or more of these symbols are on screen, you could be in for an enormous payday!
If you hit more than one multiplier symbol, their values are added together before the multiplication is applied to your winnings.
Bonus Buy Feature
For a cost of 100x your regular stake, you can buy your way straight to the free spins feature. Every time I did this, I got a four scatter trigger, but the paytable does make it clear that you can potentially hit a five or six scatter trigger via the bonus buy option as well. I think this is a very fair deal personally, but sadly many players will not be able to take advantage of this option. Some casinos may let you use a VPN to get around these restrictions, but check with live chat first – you don’t want to get your winnings confiscated for breaking any terms and conditions!
