Game Overview
Would you trust a crab to serve you seafood that isn’t going to kill you? I must admit, I’m not entirely confident about the prospect myself! I remember all too well the horrendous state that two of my mates ended up in for the first four days of a holiday back when I was 18, and it was a human serving them! Alas, I guess we’re going to have to take a leap of faith as it’s time to check out Lobster Bob’s Crazy Crab Shack from Reel Kingdom, a 20payline online slot that offers a 96.03% RTP, along with a top prize of 6,000x the total bet.
The Reel Kingdom games are published by Pragmatic Play, meaning they always benefit from that developer’s excellent user interface design. Special features available in Lobster Bob’s include scatter-pay crab symbols worth up to 2,000x the current stake, a two-scatter re-spin, a main free spin bonus round that offers up to 30 spins with multipliers, in addition to both bonus bet and bonus buy facilities. In short, this is a well-rounded package with all the essentials necessary for some high-quality slot-based entertainment!
With the introductions out of the way, I’m hoping you’re coming around to the idea of letting a crab serve you some shady seafood. I’m sure he isn’t holding a grudge against humans for eating all his mates… well, as sure as you can be anyway! Gulp. Go on, fire up our free demo slot of Lobster Bob’s Crazy Crab Shack – I promise it won’t kill you. Probably.
Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Ah, you made it – fantastic! You may be surprised to learn that Lobster Bob is not the first sea creature to appear in his own online slot; that accolade goes to Lucky Larry (at least, as far as I’m aware!), who has starred in not one not two, but three games from competing developer IGT! We reviewed Lucky Larry’s Lobstermania 2 last year, rating it as an excellent 8.3 partly due to its humongous jackpot of more than 40,000x the total bet. There are many similarities between the Lucky Larry games and Lobster Bob’s – both franchises share a similar visual style as well as attempting to invoke a little fish-themed humour here and there.
Lobster Bob makes an appearance on the game’s paytable as the wild symbol, offering by far the highest return at 125x the total bet for all five symbols. As for the regular symbols, the Oyster – complete with pearl – is the most valuable and boasts a payout of 37.5x the current stake for a complete line of five of a kind. There’s only one other truly high-paying symbol, unfortunately – the Treasure Chests, offering a return of 20x the total bet for all five symbols. The next symbol in the line-up is an Anchor, a full payline of which is worth 7.5x your bet; after that the rest of the paytable is made up entirely of low-paying royal symbols. Five Aces or Kings will get you 3.25x your bet back in winnings, followed by 2x for five Queens and 1x for five Jacks or Tens.
However large (or small) your bankroll may be, it won’t stop you from finding a suitable bet in this game! The minimum/maximum limits have been set at €0.20 and €240.00 per spin respectively, increasing to €0.30 and €360.00 if you choose to play with the bonus bet option turned on.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game of Lobster Bob’s Crazy Crab Shack offers few surprises, especially if you are already an experienced slots player. The 5×3 reel configuration is a very common design for a video slot, as are the 20 fixed paylines. Unlike many other games, however, there are two ways to score a win whilst playing this machine; first, you can line up three or more matching symbols on adjacent reels starting from the left. Secondly, hitting three or more scattered crab symbols anywhere on the playfield will award an instant cash prize of up to 2,000x the total bet – see below for full details.
Respin Feature
During the base game, landing two free spin symbols without the third necessary to trigger the bonus will activate a re-spin feature. This will cause the free spin symbols to move down by one position and the reels which do not contain a free symbol to re-spin, giving you another chance to hit the last scatter needed to trigger the bonus.
Scattered Crabs
The scattered crab is an instant-pay symbol. Cash prizes are paid for landing between three and nine of these during a single spin, but they are also collected during the re-spin feature, which allows you to accumulate them throughout several rounds.
The payouts for hitting three or more scattered crabs are as follows:
- 3 Crabs – 1x Bet
- 4 Crabs – 5x Bet
- 5 Crabs – 15x Bet
- 6 Crabs – 40x Bet
- 7 Crabs – 100x Bet
- 8 Crabs – 500x Bet
- 9 Crabs – 2,000x Bet
Ante Bet
If you’re having trouble triggering the free spins naturally, you may want to consider turning on the game’s ante bet feature – this will raise the cost of each spin by 50%, but in return, you’ll be granted much better odds of triggering a bonus round. Playing with the ante bet turned on does cause a very slight drop in RTP (-0.01%), but it isn’t sufficient enough to be noticeable.
Lobster Bob’s Crazy Crab Shack Slot Bonus Features
The main bonus round is activated by landing all three bonus scatter symbols, which appear on reels two, three, and four only. Before the bonus round begins, the game will randomly decide how many free spins to award you – this can be 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, or 30 spins.
Free Spins
In this mode, all wins are boosted by a multiplier of either 2x or 3x, including the instant cash prizes paid for hitting the scattered crabs. To win the game’s maximum jackpot of 6,000x the total bet, you must trigger the free spins feature with the top multiplier of 3x.
That’s quite a lot of things that need to go right for you to stand a chance of collecting a jackpot, but on the plus side, catching three further bonus symbols whilst the feature is active will award you a new set of 10-30 spins along with another chance to score the top multiplier.
Bonus Buy
If permitted within your country or jurisdiction, a bonus buy facility is included at the cost of 100x the current stake.
Pros
- Big wins are possible during the base game as well as the bonus round
- Scatter pay prizes seem reasonably generous
- Free spins can be re-triggered indefinitely
Cons
- Standard line prizes are not particularly exciting
- The bonus round doesn’t offer much more than the base game
Lobster Bob's Crazy Crab Shack Slot Review Final Thoughts
Lobster Bob’s Crazy Crab Shack is mostly average - it looks nice, has a quirky theme, and the payouts are decent enough although not particularly remarkable. Whilst I had a blast testing the machine, I just can’t imagine many people will remember it in a year’s time.

- Game Types:
- High Volatility Slots
