Slot Overview
Legion Gold & The Throne of the Dead is an Egyptian-themed online slot from studio Play’n GO that combines a coin collection hold & win bonus with a free spins round featuring mega symbols, where players can win up to a maximum of 10,000x their bet.
Gameplay & Bonus Features
Play’n GO’s Legion Gold & The Throne of the Dead uses a 5-reel, 3-row format with 25 fixed paylines with winning combos paying from left to right. Players can stake a minimum of €0.10 and a maximum of €50, with the game offering a return to player percentage of 96%.
The main bonus in Legion Gold Throne of Dead is triggered by landing 6 gold coins. This starts Gold Re-Spins with 3 spins, where only gold coins and golden scales can appear.
Gold coins stay locked in place for the duration of the feature, and every new coin that lands resets the respin counter back to 3. The round continues for as long as new coins keep dropping.
Once the feature ends, all visible Gold Coin values are added together and paid. If every position on the grid is filled with gold coins, an extra top prize is awarded on top of all coin values already collected.
Coin Chest Picker Game
If gold coins land during the base game without triggering gold re-spins or appearing with golden scales, they are stored in the coin chest.
Whenever this happens, there is a chance the chest opens and starts a picker game. Here, you match 3 identical coin prizes to win an instant reward, ranging from mini up to grand.
Mega Spins Feature
Landing 3 scatters triggers 5 mega spins. During this feature, a mega symbol is added to a random position on every spin, giving each round an extra modifier in play. Mega Spins can also be retriggered, with the feature capped at 45 total spins.
Gold Re-Spins can still trigger during Mega Spins if a Mega Gold Coin lands. When this happens, it breaks into 9 gold coins with random values, the Gold Re-Spins feature is played out, and then the game returns to the remaining Mega Spins afterwards.

Theme & Design
Play’n GO has some of the most iconic Egyptian-themed slots in its portfolio, including Book of Dead and Legacy of Egypt, and Legion Gold and the Throne of Dead is another release that will take you to the foot of the ancient pyramids and into the temples in search of lost pharaoh treasure and big wins.
The game has been designed to a high standard, which you’d expect from Play’n GO, and whilst this would make great viewing for a first-time player, it’s going to be recycled graphics and audio for any long-term player, making it a little tedious after even just a handful of spins.
Pros
- 3 bonus rounds
- The max win hits 10,000x
Cons
- The Egyptian-themed releases have been well and truly milked by Play'n GO
- Hold & Win and a Mega Symbol free spins is a very old and boring concept
- Variable RTP models will be on offer to operators
Final Thoughts
Another day, another Egyptian-themed slot, and to make this one even worse, the feature set of a hold & win bonus and free spins was probably first around when the pyramids were constructed, so this is far from being a game with modern mechanics.
Ok, perhaps that was a tad harsh, but there are literally hundreds of games already with the same features packed into a slot, so I'm not sure why you'd create another one and why anybody would play it.
For me, this is a no. How about you?
