Slot Overview
Legion Gold Reckoning is a medium-volatility video slot from Play’n GO, and the slot is based on Roman-inspired visuals with coin collection mechanics, Mega Symbols, and an optional Go Ultra Ante Bet. It’s played on a classic-looking 5×3 setup, but with a maximum win potential of 10,000x, Gold Respins, Mega Spins, and more, do the modern mechanics do enough to distract from the familiar feel? Let’s find out.
Gameplay & Bonus Features
Play’n GO is known for producing good looking games, and from what we can tell at first glance, Legion Gold Reckoning looks to fit that consistency. The reels are set against the backdrop of a Roman amphitheatre, with marble columns, banners, and a sunlit arena visible on either side of the reels.
To us, the theme is pretty well presented, and you’ll see various animal symbols on the reels, including a lion, bull, eagle, and horse, along with some theme-specific symbols like coins. If you’ve ever played titles like Rise of Olympus or Roman Rivals Blood & Sand, you’ll probably feel right at home here, and there’s no denying Legion Gold Reckoning looks solid.

Theme & Design
Legion Gold Reckoning is played on a five-reel, three-row layout. There are 25 fixed paylines in play at all times. Wins are paid from left to right, you can bet from €0.10 to €100, and the RTP is configurable (as with all Play’n GO slots), although the default is 96.2%.
When you begin spinning, you’ll notice that the Wild substitutes for all symbols except Scatter, Gold Coin, and Gold Coin Bag, and it can also expand vertically when it lands stacked. Landing 6 Gold Coins triggers the Gold Respins feature, and here, Gold Coins remain locked in view while the reels respin. Any new coins landed resets the Respin counter back to 3, and this process continues until you fill the screen (which awards a Golden Prize worth 1,000x) or fail to land any new Coin symbols for 3 consecutive respins.
Now, if the Gold Coin Bag symbol lands, it automatically collects all of the Gold Coins currently in view – think of it like a Collector symbol. Gold Coins that do not trigger Gold Re-Spins and are not collected by a Coin Bag are stored in the Coin Chest. Filling the chest can trigger an instant cash prize of up to 500x.
Finally, there’s the Mega Spins feature, triggered by landing three Scatter symbols in view. Here, giant Mega Symbols can land, before randomly shifting positions between spins.
Go Ultra Ante Bet
Legion Gold Reckoning, like all Play’n GO slots, does not contain any Bonus Buy options. There is, however, an optional Go Ultra Ante bet, and this costs 1.5x your base stake. When active, it increases the frequency of animals (the high value symbols) in the base game, and it also increases Mega Spins to 6, Gold Respins to 4, and awards extra respins when a Coin or Gold Coin Bag lands.
Pros
- Decent maximum win potential of 10,000x.
- Multiple coin mechanics.
- Mega Spins feature is quite exciting.
Cons
- Multiple RTP configurations are available.
- Coin features rely on progress rather than instant hits.
- The coin-collection mechanic may feel very overdone at this point.
Final Thoughts
Legion Gold Reckoning is a really nice-looking release from Play’n GO, and we like how, among the slew of high variance monsters we’re seeing released today, it chooses to prioritise consistency over extreme volatility. Its layered coin mechanics, combined with Gold Re-Spins and the Coin Chest, ensure regular feature interaction without forcing you to endure lengthy dry spells (or so the variance should display, anyway!)
It’s also got quite an impressive maximum win potential of 10,000x for a medium variance game, making it appeal to, well, pretty much everyone! Yes, there are lower RTP configurations of the game available, so you’ll want to watch out and ensure you’re only playing the 96.2% version where possible...
But other than that, we don’t really have anything to nit-pick here. OK, the coin-collect mechanic is starting to feel quite overused, but even then, Play’n GO has added Mega Spins and other action into the mix, so yes, we’re happy to say, ‘Good effort here. Legion Gold Reckoning is a great-looking game, it’s fun to play, and there’s tonnes of variety; recommended!
