Slot Overview

Le Rapper is yet another instalment in Hacksaw Gaming’s “Le” series, and here, you’ll find yourself dropped into a graffiti-sprayed street with a rapper-themed mascot leading the action! The game uses a familiar cluster pays mechanic, chain reactions based around marked tiles, and a maximum win potential of up to 10,000x. It looks good, but is this urban-inspired video slot any good once the novelty wears off? Let’s find out.

Theme & Design

We’ve seen a number of “Le” games from Hacksaw Gaming now, and it’s clear they’re proving popular with players. Whether it’s the original Le Bandit or later spinoffs like Le Santa, these games are successful for a variety of reasons.

Le Rapper does a decent job of embracing its hip-hop theme without overdoing it, and you’ll see that the reels sit against a city backdrop of graffiti-ed walls and street lighting, with a baseball cap-wearing creature in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

There’s nothing extraordinary here, but Le Rapper looks decent enough, although there’s not a huge amount of difference between this and other “Le” games, bar the different theme.

Le Rapper Gameplay & Bonus Features

Le Rapper plays on a 6-reel, 5-row grid. The game uses a cluster pays mechanic, so wins are formed by landing 5+ matching symbols that connect. You can bet between €0.10 and €100 per spin, and the game’s default RTP sits slightly above average at 96.34%.

Like all “Le” games, Le Rapper is designed around the cascading reels/marked squares mechanic. After any cluster win, the winning symbols disappear and new ones fall into place. Any squares that formed part of a win are then “marked”, and they remain marked until they’re activated, or until the spin ends, depending on whether you’re in the base game or bonus round.

To activate a square, you need to land a rainbow symbol. If this symbol lands, then once the spin sequence ends, all marked squares are turned into modifier squares. They can then land Bronze, Silver, or Gold Cash Coins, Multipliers, or a Bag of Gold, which collects all values in view.

The game’s main bonus is, once again, a free spins feature, and this is triggered by landing 3+ Scatter symbols in view. 3 scatters award the standard 8 free spins, with marked squares remaining until activated by the rainbow. Landing 4 Scatters awards 12 free spins, and here, marked squares don’t reset once they’re activated.

Le Rapper also contains an “Epic Bonus”, triggered by landing 5 Scatter symbols. This awards Treasure at the End of the Rainbow free spins, and you’ll be awarded 12 free rounds. Here, a Rainbow is guaranteed to land on every spin, and Bronze Cash Coins are removed from the reels.

Bonus Buy/FeatureSpins

Le Rapper includes several Bonus Buy/FeatureSpins options:

  • BonusHunt FeatureSpins: Costs 3x and makes each spin 5x more likely to trigger a bonus.
  • Rainbow FeatureSpins: Costs 50x and guarantees a Rainbow symbol on every spin.
  • Luck of the Rapper Free Spins: Costs 100x and awards 8 free spins.
  • All That Glitters is Gold Free Spins: Costs 250x and awards 12 free spins with marked squares remaining once activated.

Pros

  • Win up to 10,000x.
  • Decent theme and well-presented.
  • Four Bonus Buy/FeatureSpins options.

Cons

  • Nothing really unique compared to previous “Le” releases.
  • Most of the win potential relies on hitting Rainbow symbols.
  • Base game is quite dull and boring.

Le Rapper Slot Review Final Thoughts

For many gamblers, Hacksaw Gaming is starting to overdo the “Le” series of games, and to be honest, we agree. It was a nice mechanic in its early days, but it feels like Hacksaw is just milking it now, and Le Rapper is, really, nothing more than a re-skin of the previous spin-offs that came before it.

Sure, the theme may appeal to some players who weren’t overly excited by the Le Bandit/later releases themes, but aside from that, there’s just nothing different or unique about Le Rapper, so you’re playing Le Bandit with a different skin.

So, if you’re a die-hard fan of the original “Le” games, Le Rapper may be worth checking out. It’s presented well, and the three bonus rounds are all exciting in their own ways. If, however, you’re looking for something completely unique and innovative, Le Rapper probably isn’t for you, and it’s not for us, either. We hope Hacksaw Gaming can get back to innovating soon!
