Game Overview
Let the battles begin! The legendary Knights of Avalon – otherwise known as the Knights of Camelot or Knights of the Round Table show up frequently in popular culture, most recently in this new online slot from Red Tiger. This 1,024 payway game offers a slightly below-average RTP of 95.69% but offsets that quite nicely with a tasty maximum jackpot prize of 17,729x the total bet.
The base game includes a ‘Knight Drop’ modifier that can randomly add up to six matching knight symbols to the reels. This knight will then – in quite ungentlemanly fashion – start a fight with the other knights on the reels, with the victor transforming his opponents’ symbols into more of his own. So much for honourable, eh? The main free spin bonus round boosts your chances of a big win by increasing the odds of a Knight Drop modifier and including multipliers of up to 5x. There’s also a bonus buy facility available for those who prefer to bypass the base game and go straight to the most exciting parts of the slot.

Knights Of Avalon Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The first Avalon-themed game I can recall playing was a Microgaming slot titled Avalon, which must be a good decade and a half old by now. That game did get a sequel, but it wasn’t a big hit and seems to largely have disappeared from the lobbies of most online casinos. ELK Studios produced a much more up-to-date slot titled Avalon Gold, which is something of a personal favourite and a true high-variance monster to boot. Compared to those games, Red Tiger’s effort certainly competes in terms of presentation – this is a fantastic-looking game! The jackpot offered here is also quite large at over 17,000x the total bet, although ELK’s game does have the edge here with a slightly larger maximum prize of 25,000x.
The paytable shows the return for each symbol as a multiple of the current bet, which is how it always should be, in my view. The wild symbol is the most valuable of the bunch, along with the golden knight symbol, both of which share equal payouts of 2.5x the total bet for a full payway of five of a kind. There are three further high-paying knights with returns of 1.6x, 1.2x, and 1x the bet for all five symbols, plus five additional low pays. They appear as shields, four of which have insignia based on playing card suits, whilst the most valuable shows a crown instead. The payouts for these range between 0.3x and 0.8x for a five-of-a-kind combination.
The betting range is relatively small, unfortunately. However, I suspect that Red Tiger may just be pre-empting the likely forthcoming decision by the UKGC to restrict the stakes of online slots. So, for the time being, the minimum/maximum permitted wagers in Knights of Avalon stand at €0.10 and €4.00 per spin, respectively.
Base Game & Modifiers
The basic gameplay of Knights of Avalon utilises a 5×4 playfield with 1,024 payways. That means every possible path from left to right can award a win, and you’ll need at least three matching symbols starting from the left to do so.
Knights Drop Modifier
At the start of any spin, up to six knights of the same type can land on the reels and engage in battle with other knight symbols that may land on the reels. When this occurs, the victor of the battle will transform his opponent’s symbols into more of his own, giving you a great chance of scoring a big win.
Knights Of Avalon Slot Bonus Features
Bonus scatter symbols appear on reels one, three, and five only, and you’ll need to hit all three of these to trigger seven free spins. The free spins have a couple of unique twists compared to the base game.
Free Spins
In this mode, the Knights Drop modifier detailed above occurs far more frequently than during the base game. Each knight can also come with a multiplier of up to 5x attached for even bigger wins – provided that he wins any battle he encounters! Landing a scatter symbol whilst the feature is active will add one additional free spin to your remaining counter.
Bonus Buy
There are two options on the bonus buy menu – you can purchase a Knights Drop modifier for 25x the normal price per spin or go all the way by purchasing a set of free spins for 100x instead. Both seem like fair prices for the respective features, but the options are sadly unavailable in many jurisdictions.
Pros
- Great-looking graphics and symbols.
- A massive jackpot of over 17,000x the total bet.
- The Knight Drop feature can make even a base game spin extremely rewarding.
Cons
- The free spins don’t add much extra to the game.
- The scatters also seem especially difficult to hit, although that could have been bad luck on my part!
Final Thoughts
The story of Camelot is an enduring tale that will still be being made into movies, games, and television shows in a hundred years or more! Knights of Avalon probably isn’t the greatest slot based on this legend, but it’s a solid effort that will likely keep you interested for at least a handful of sessions.
