Game Overview

Slot studio Red Tiger returns to the North Pole with Jingle Bells Bonanza 2, a relaxed 6×4 Christmas sequel that does away with classic Christmas “cozy” vibes for a feature-riddled game where you can win up to 10,716x your bet!

Theme & Design

Red Tiger Gaming releases themed video slots every single year, and Christmas is arguably their biggest “production” time! After their original Jingle Bells Bonanza saw moderate levels of success, they’ve clearly decided to give it another shot, this time with Jingle Bells Bonanza 2.

The game has that classic Red Tiger look and feel to it, and you’ll see the reels set within the chassis of Santa’s sleigh! Visually it’s impressively designed, and there’s a weird-looking elf on the left-hand side of the reels, too! Above the reels you’ll see the game’s four jackpots: Grand, Major, Minor, and Mini, and we’ll talk more about these later in this review.

Now, if you’re a fan of Christmas-themed slots, there’s no shortage of titles for you to check out. Give Crystal Queen’s Coins a spin, or try Big Stack Nutcrack for a more modern release!

Jingle Bells Bonanza 2 Gameplay & Bonus Features

Jingle Bells Bonanza 2 is played on a 6-reel, 4-row grid with 20 fixed paylines. You can bet between €0.10 and €8 per spin. The game has been designed around a medium variance math model, with a default RTP of 96.1%.

There’s quite a lot going on in the game, and the first “feature”, if you will, is the Jingle Bell wilds. These can land on any reel bar the first, and when they do, they leave a frame behind. If a Jingle Bell drops into a framed spot on a later spin, all existing frames turn into Golden Leaf Jingle Bell wilds, and the spin’s win multiplier increases by +1, applied to any wins you manage to form on that spin.

The game’s main feature is the Christmas Spins, and it’s triggered by landing scatter symbols on reels 1 and 6 together. Doing so awards you with ten free spins, and once the bonus begins, you’ll notice that only Red Baubles, Gold Baubles, and Prize Presents can land.

Red and Gold Baubles carry instant prizes worth 1x to 10x your bet, while Prize Presents can hold fixed jackpots, as mentioned earlier. These are worth: Mini (20x), Minor (50x), Major (250x), and Grand (5,000x). When your remaining spins reach 3, the feature morphs into a hold-and-respin mode. Each new symbol resets the counter to 3.

To further complicate things, collecting Gold Baubles also fills a progress bar that unlocks three modifiers. First, there’s Extend, which increases your remaining re-spin counter back to 4; secondly, there’s Double, which doubles all new prizes that land in view; and finally, there’s Expand, which adds two additional rows to the grid.

Bonus Buy

If you prefer to skip the base game action, you can buy directly into the Christmas Spin bonus round for a cost of 65x your base game stake.

Pros

  • Pretty unique twist on the classic Hold & Win bonus round mechanic.
  • Win up to 10,716x.
  • Wild Frames mechanic in the base game to keep things interesting.

Cons

  • RTP can vary quite a lot depending on where you play.
  • Bonus buy unavailable in all regions.
  • Jackpots are localised; they’re not progressive.

Jingle Bells Bonanza 2 Slot Review Final Thoughts

Jingle Bells Bonanza 2 is quite a clever release from Red Tiger Gaming. It’s not the only Christmas slot they’re releasing this year (ask us how we know), yet it does a pretty good job of keeping things festive and familiar while also introducing some interesting new, or at least reimagined, mechanics.

It’s quite strange to see the provider combining a free spins bonus with a Hold & Win mechanic, and this isn't really something we’ve seen before. We also really like the way the progression meter works during the bonus round, as this offers some decent variation on the classic Hold & Win mechanic, too!

Now, it’s not all good news; the fact that the game’s jackpots seem very hard to land, even the Mini and Minor, doesn’t fill us with hope that the Major or Grand will ever land. We also don’t like the fact that Red Tiger’s games come in such wildly varying RTP settings, either. Still, Jingle Bells Bonanza 2 is a pretty decent slot, and with a maximum win potential of up to 10,716x, it’s definitely worth a spin or two!
