Game Overview
I’m of the opinion that Aliens, just like ghosts, do not exist. They might, but surely we’d have caught actual evidence using today’s technology by now. I mean, people today record everything from the meal they’re eating to fights they witness and just any random nonsense. It’s funny that whenever so-called video evidence of aliens or ghosts goes viral across social media, it always looks like it was recorded on a camcorder from the 70s. It’s all nonsense; we’re alone here, which is a good thing in my book. I’d rather be alone playing the latest slots, such as Light & Wonder’s Invaders Takeover, than going face to face with laser-wielding aliens, that’s for sure. With that said, Invaders Takeover is a 6-reel, 4-row, and 4,096 ways-to-win slot from Light & Wonder that comes with a 96.10% RTP and a maximum win of 14,596x bet.
Whether or not you believe in any of this outer world stuff, Invaders Takeover is ready to take you on an intergalactic journey with some special features. These include the Alien Attack bonus that can add extra wilds to the reels and a Premium Play option, which could land you win multipliers of up to 5x the stake or trigger the free spins bonus. Speaking of which, that free spins bonus could increase the way to win up to 10,000 times thanks to a horizontal reel that, once unlocked, can contain wilds with multipliers.
If you haven’t already, why not beam yourself up to the Invaders Takeover slot demo below? And see if you can swat those pesky aliens back to where they came from. Come on team Earth!
Invaders Takeover Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
If Aliens did exist and they attacked this planet, I’m not sure what I’d do. Would I go all Will Smith and spark them out, or accept the inevitable and sit in my garden drinking a beer or twenty? I guess we won’t find out until/if it happens. If this review has put you in the mood for more Alien Invasion-inspired slot games, let me point you in the direction of Play’n Go’s Invading Vegas and Farm Invaders from PG Soft. By the time you finish this slot and those two, you’ll be Googling doomsday bunkers within minutes.
Let’s bring the attention back to Invaders Takeover and the sort of payouts it could potentially deliver. The Invaders Takeover logo is the best-paying symbol, and you’ll be awarded 10x the stake for a 6-symbol combination. A Whacky Scientist is next with payouts of 5x , and then comes a Cow and an Alien, both with equal returns of 1.5x for a winning combo of six. The unimaginative playing card symbols will deliver the least lucrative wins, as is standard in the industry, with the Ace and King paying 1x, the Queen and Jack awarding 0.6x, and the Ten and Nine sharing payouts of 0.4x for a six of a kind win. A Wild Symbol can also appear on any reels 2, 3, 4, or 5, substituting for all regular symbols.
There’s a reasonable set of staking options in play on Invaders Takeover, with the minimum price to spin coming in at €0.10, with high rollers having the opportunity to get involved for as high as €10 a press.
Invaders Takeover Slot Base Game
Invaders Takeover is a 6×4 reel slot game with a fixed 4,096 ways to win. You win a payout if you match 3 or more matching symbols land on consecutive reels starting from the reel first. The exception is the Invaders Takeover symbol, which requires just 2 or more matching symbols.
Alien Attack Bonus
Triggered randomly when two bonus symbols land on the reels, this feature will turn the screen into scanning mode. The scan will reveal either ‘Threat Detected’ or ‘No Threat Detected’, with the former triggering the free spins bonus. If activated, the two bonus symbols will also turn into wild symbols before transforming 3 to 5 symbols into wilds.
Premium Play
You’ll notice a Premium Play button to the left of the reels, and once activated, you’ll spin the reels for 1.5x your standard bet. What’s the point I hear you cry? Well, with Premium Play activated, you receive a spin of the Space Wheel every time you land a winning combination of 1.6x or more during the base game. The wheel could give you a win multiplier of 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x or even trigger the free spins bonus.
Gamble Feature
Another optional feature you can activate is the Gamble Feature, which lets you gamble any payouts worth more than 5x your stake in normal play and 2.5x in premium play for a chance of triggering the free spins bonus. When a win of that size or more comes, you can gamble all or a portion of your winnings for some free spins. You can choose the amount of winnings you want to risk and how many free spins you want to win. What you choose for either will determine the size of the green and red portions of the wheel you’ll spin. You win the free spins if the pointer lands on the green portion. If not, you’ve lost what you gambled.
Invaders Takeover Slot Bonus Features
Whether you gambled your way to the bonus round or landed 3 scatters to trigger it, before the free spins bonus starts, you’re told how many free spins you will receive. It is dressed up in a pick ’em game, whereby you click one of three planets three times to reveal a number. All numbers are added together to give you the total number of spins you will receive.
Free Spins
Once the free spins bonus starts, you’ll notice 4 horizontal reels above the four middle reels. These are locked initially but will unlock as you land wild symbols on the reels below throughout the free spins. The Wild Symbols fly into the position in the horizontal reel and stay there until the end of the bonus. Each additional wild symbol landed on an unlocked reel will increase the top reel wild’s multiplier value by 1x. It is possible to trigger more free spins during the free spins bonus if the Alien Attack feature is triggered.
Pros
- The feature can be gambled for.
Cons
- Can go on long spells of giving no wins in the base game.
- The free spins bonus can pay very little when it does trigger.
Invaders Takeover Slot Review Final Thoughts
I enjoyed Invaders Megaways when it was released, so I had high hopes for Invaders Takeover, too, but my hopes were soon dashed when it gave me around 28 consecutive dead spins while testing. This wasn't a one-off, and there were long playing spells of receiving either no or incredibly small wins that were pretty much pointless. On the occasions I did manage to trigger the feature, they all paid under 20x bet, and it's hard to see how the max win can be achieved on this slot.My testing was just a small sample size, so you may have better experiences than me, but ultimately, after my time on the game, it left me feeling like I'd been beamed up and probed.
