Game Overview

Casino game studio Light & Wonder’s Huff N’ More Puff is a cartoon-style fairytale slot that is a bit of a modern-day version of the classic “Three Little Pigs” story, delivered through a unique 243-ways-to-win mechanic! With three free spins modes and a maximum win potential of up to 5,000x, it looks good on paper, but how did it stack up during our testing? Let’s find out!

Theme & Design

Huff N’ More Puff is set in a bright forest clearing where the reels sit between two hedges. A bonus wheel can be seen, quite uniquely, spinning behind the reels themselves! It may not be the most modern-looking video slot in the world, sure, but it looks nice, and the mechanics somewhat make up for the slightly older design, we feel.

Of course, fairytale-inspired video slots are nothing new. If they’re your “forte”, you may also want to consider playing titles like Big Bad Wolf: Pigs of Steel, from Quickspin, or The Pig House, from TaDa Gaming.

Huff N’ More Puff Gameplay & Features

Huff N’ More Puff is played on a five-reel, three-row layout. There are no paylines, as the game uses a 243-ways-to-win mechanic. Today, Light & Wonder offers its games in multiple RTP settings, but Huff N’ More Puff is offered, by default, in a 96% setting. You can wager between €0.20 and €100 per spin, so there are betting options for players on all budgets, too!

The game’s main attraction is the Bonus Wheel, triggered by landing at least three Buzz Saw scatters anywhere in view on the screen. Once you do so, you get to have a spin of the wheel, and this spin can award the three free spins bonuses: Buzz Saw, Mansion, or Mega Hat. It can also award one of the game’s three jackpots, which are worth 20x, 100x, 1,000x, or 5,000x your bet.

Now, once a reel spin has started, there’s also a chance that any reel can contain a number of positions that are randomly replaced with PIGGY1, PIGGY2, PIGGY3, TOOLBOX, or TAPE. These are simply the game’s higher-paying symbols.

If you trigger the Buzz Saw bonus, you win free spins. Before they begin, each Buzz Saw symbol will move to the right until off-screen. Each position that this symbol touches while moving to the right is evaluated as though a hard hat symbol had landed there. During the feature, three or more scattered Hard Hat symbols award +1 free spins.

In the Mega Hat feature, you begin with 6 free spins and a pre-round spin that lands oversized “hats”, turning entire grid sections into straw frames. Hard Hats can add or upgrade these frames during the round. Brick frames offer the biggest prizes, worth up to 250x or a jackpot prize.  There’s also the Mansion Feature, during which brick frames are added to the reels.

Bonus Buy

Players outside the UK can also buy direct entry into the Wheel or Free Spins feature for a cost of 50x.

Pros

  • Three unique free spins features.
  • Bonus Wheel can trigger on any spin.
  • Win up to 5,000x.

Cons

  • No base game features.
  • The visuals aren’t the most modern.
  • RTP can range depending on the casino you play at.

Huff N' More Puff Slot Review Final Thoughts

Huff N’ More Puff has great ideas on paper, but in our opinion, it kind of struggles to pull them off well. Sure, we like the fact that there are multiple free spins options, and the upgradeable frame mechanic gives the gameplay some fun, but the slow pace and less-than-desirable graphics are a little boring in our opinion.

Still, there’s a decent maximum win potential of 5,000x, and the Bonus Wheel can be fun, but just know what you’re getting into, and don’t expect it to be the most entertaining game you’ll have ever played!
