Game Overview

Another day, another new developer I haven’t seen before – exciting stuff! Mancala Gaming is based in the city of Prague in the Czech Republic, which serves to demonstrate that the creation of online slots is truly becoming a worldwide industry in 2022. The company describes its Hot Fruits on Ice online slot as a “classic 3×4 fruit-themed line-wins slot game”; the game certainly feels classic, but the 3×4 grid is an unusual size that I haven’t come across very often in years of playing online slots. Nine fixed paylines span the unusual reel set, which you might want to check the layout of in the games help pages as the setup is quite unusual. The RTP is a little below average at 95%, whilst the top prize is a jackpot of 525x your bet.

Mancala has obviously tried to keep things as simple as possible in Hot Fruits on Ice, as there aren’t any bonus rounds to speak of. A single modifier is activated for hitting a full screen of the same symbol, which will multiply your total winnings by up to 7x.

If you enjoy classic slots, then you have probably noticed a drought of them during the past few years. Developers just don’t seem very interested in creating this type of game anymore, so our free demo slot of Hot Fruits on Ice could be a rare treat for a specific kind of player!

Hot Fruits On Ice Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols

Paytable For Hot Fruits On Ice Slot

Fruit-themed games are ten a penny in the online slots industry; I could rattle off a dozen or more of them here by every developer you can think of, but there really wouldn’t be much point to it. What is worth saying is that fruits make the ideal theme for a game that is intended to be a modern interpretation of the “classic” slot machine, as these are the types of symbols which were used on some of the very first slot machines ever built. The first recorded slot machine, known as the “Liberty Bell”, did not feature fruits. Still, its immediate sequel did and was the first game to win over the drinkers of the day who would play the “fruit machines” at the bar of their favourite saloons in the San Francisco area of the United States.

Hot Fruits on Ice online slot includes just five unique symbols on its reel strips, which means that winning combinations tend to show up relatively frequently. The top symbol is the Lucky 7, paying 8.33x your stake for a single full pay line of four-of-a-kind. A full screen of Lucky 7’s would therefore return 75x your bet normally as there are nine pay lines, but if you score a full screen of this symbol, your winnings will also be subject to a 7x multiplier, returning the maximum jackpot of 525x your bet. The watermelon is next in the line-up, paying 5.55x your stake for a single pay line or 250x for a full screen, including the 5x multiplier applied to that combination. The remaining symbols include a peach, which pays 2.77x for a single pay line or a total of 100x for a full screen, followed by a plum at 1.66x/45x, and finally the lemon with a return of just 1x/18x – you can’t help but feel a little disappointed at winning less than 20x your bet for a full screen of matching symbols, even if it is the lowest one on the paytable!

The default currency when playing in demo mode shows up as being DEM. Still, the developer states the minimum/maximum bets when playing for real money in Euros as being €0.09 and €9.00, respectively, which makes much more sense.

Base Game & Modifiers

Play With 5 Reels, 9 Paylines, And Win Up To 525x Your Bet In Hot Fruits On Ice Online Slot From Provider Mancala Gaming

The base game of the Hot Fruits on Ice video slot consists of a 4×3 playfield with nine fixed paylines, and winnings are awarded for hitting three or four matching symbols from left to right on a payline. The symbols are stacked on the reels, too, which can be something of a double-edged sword; on the one hand, the stacked symbols make it possible to hit a full screen of matching symbols for bigger wins, whilst on the other, these stacks can also make it harder to hit regular single-line wins.

This title is defined as a “classic slot”, so I won’t give it too much of a hard time for being light on features and modifiers – it is very much intentional in a game like this. Classic slots are the easiest for new players to understand but also tend to be quite limited in scope and, therefore, may not hold the interest of experienced players for very long. Mancala has wisely decided to include a single modifier, explained below.

Multiplier Feature

If a full screen of matching symbols happens to land, your total prize will be multiplied by a value corresponding to the symbol type. The highest-paying symbols also have the biggest multipliers attached to them, as follows:

Lucky Seven – 7x

Watermelon – 5x

Peach – 4x

Plum – 3x

Lemon – 2x

A full screen of matching symbols would typically be worth 9x its regular return, as the full screen would ensure a win on all nine of the games’ fixed pay lines. Because of these multipliers, however, the full-screen payouts for each symbol are much higher than the regular paytable would indicate. See the previous section for a full breakdown of the payouts for a full screen of each of the game’s five symbols.

Hot Fruits On Ice Slot Review Final Thoughts

I don’t usually regard myself as a fan of “classic” slots, but as games become more and more complex in the present day, the type of game that I enjoy is starting to become more and more associated with a term like “classic slot”. For example, I often prefer games with fewer pay lines, such as the nine on offer, here rather than games with thousands of pay ways.

If you, too, have begun to find yourself tired by the complexity of some of the latest online slots, then Mancala’s Hot Fruits on Ice may provide you with an enjoyable change of pace. The jackpot could undoubtedly be a little higher, and the RTP should have been closer to 96% than 95%, but overall, I enjoyed testing this game and believe it could find an audience in the current market.
