Game Overview
I’ve tried a few of Mancala Gaming’s online slots now, and a pattern seems to be emerging – these guys seem to like creating “classic” or “old school” slot machines! Hot Fruits on Fire online slot appears to be a sequel to Mancala’s earlier release named Hot Fruits on Ice, as the two games are almost identical in many ways. Significant differences become apparent when you examine the vital statistics of the two games – Hot Fruits on Ice featured nine pay lines, whilst this game offers only five. Likewise, the maximum win available in this game is only 80x your bet, which is one of the lowest multiples I have ever encountered. The two games do share a common RTP of 95%, which is 1% shy of the more common industry average of 96%. It may sound like a slight difference, but as we always say here at demoslot.com, that last 1% can make a much bigger difference than you might think.
The Hot Fruits on Fire slot game is intended as a “classic” slot, so it’s possible to forgive the almost complete absence of any bonus round or special features in the game. At the same time, Mancala showed us with their “Reel Reel Hot” title that it is perfectly feasible to create a “classic” slot which incorporates a few modern elements, and those extra elements genuinely do make that game far more interesting to play in comparison to both Hot Fruits on Fire & Hot Fruits on Ice.
If you are the type of player who enjoys “classic” slots, then perhaps Mancala’s games will come as a breath of fresh air to you – there haven’t been many releases of this type during the past few years. If you’re unsure, we have a free demo slot of Hot Fruits on Fire available below.
Hot Fruits On Fire Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
There is very little you can say about the theme offered by this game – it’s a fruit machine-inspired online slot with only five unique symbols on its reels, and fruit-themed games are one of the most common types of online slots out there. Sure, I could tell you about dozens of other fruit-inspired online slots… “Fruit Shop” by NetEnt, perhaps? How about the simply titled “Fruits” by Nolimit City? Or maybe Pragmatic Play’s “Extra Juicy”? There are probably hundreds of such games, with dozens of new ones released yearly. It’s honestly at the stage where I can’t help but feel opting for fruits as the theme of your new online slot is a cop-out nowadays – a lazy option that might even allow you to recycle assets from a previous game. I’m not going to go back and check if the symbols used on the reel strips of Hot Fruits on Fire are identical to those used by Hot Fruits on Ice – it simply doesn’t matter – nobody is going to choose to play either game on the singular basis that they just love to play games that are based on fruits… are they?
The paytable is a much more likely reason for somebody to choose to play this style of online slot, and it is here where I genuinely feel that Hot Fruits on Fire begins to go wrong. With just five pay lines, I expected there to be at least a couple of high-paying symbols at the top of the paytable despite the fact the reels are only 3×3 spaces wide. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case – the highest-paying symbol is the Lucky 7, with a return of 8x your bet for a full pay line of three-of-a-kind. Hit a full screen of this symbol, and you will receive 8x your bet for each of the five pay lines for a total of 40x your bet, but the game will also double your return for a total of 80x. That is the highest amount you can ever win whilst playing Hot Fruits on Fire, and it simply isn’t enough for my tastes. The watermelon symbol takes second place and pays 5x your stake for a full pay line, and the same rules apply if a full screen of matching symbols occurs, making the combination worth 50x your bet. The peach pays 4x for one line or 40x for a full screen, the plum pays 2x for a line or 20x for a screen, and finally, the lemon returns just 1.6x for a line or 16x for a screen.
Play the game in demo mode, and you will be met by the same confusing “DEM” currency used in other Mancala Gaming online slots, whilst real money players should find that they can opt to play anywhere between €0.05 per spin at the bottom end up to €4.50 per spin as the maximum. This does seem like a small maximum wager, especially considering that this game can only pay out a maximum of 80x your bet. Still, all the available information suggests that this is the correct number.
Base Game & Modifiers
Over to the “base game” of Hot Fruits on Fire video slot (AKA, the entire game), you’ll be spending your time spinning a tiny reel set that occupies an area just 3×3 in size where only full pay lines of three symbols have any return at all. That’s okay, though – the small reel set and the low number of unique symbols ensure that wins are still relatively common, despite the requirement to complete a pay line before winning anything.
Hot Fruits on Ice featured a different multiplier for each of the symbols featured on its reels, but Hot Fruits on Fire sticks to a fixed 2x multiplier for any full screen of matching symbols you manage to hit in the game. Full screens of the higher-paying symbols do drop in relatively frequently, but why wouldn’t they, when you consider the small return for even the best combinations offered by this title?
Hot Fruits on Fire desperately needs a couple of modifiers or a bonus round to break up the monotony of the regular game, but sadly the game offers nothing; the basic gameplay is all you will get here.
Even the 2x multiplier for a full screen of matching symbols isn’t worth describing as a “feature” because it applies identically to any full screen of matching symbols and still only results in a maximum payoff of 80x your bet. I guess you could call this a “pure” expression of the classic slot genre – whether that is a good or a bad thing, I will leave it up to you to decide.
Hot Fruits On Fire Slot Review Final Thoughts
It feels harsh to criticise Hot Fruits on Fire too much for its lack of features because the game is intended to be a “classic” three-reel game. However, I can’t help but feel this one is a tad too basic for its own good. Mancala has already released several other similar games that are more fun to play than this one, and have bigger jackpots, so what reason is there to choose to play Hot Fruits on Fire instead? I’m struggling to think of one, so sadly, I can’t find a reason to recommend this game to you – even if you enjoy classic three-reel slots.
