Slot Overview
Honey Lock’s Pots by Quickspin is a 5-reel, 4-row video slot with 30 fixed paylines, combining expanding wild reels, three Honey Pot features and a hold-and-win style Bonus Game capped at 2,500x the total bet. The max win may seem a bit low, but the theme is familiar and the graphics smooth and easy on the eyes; so, is this a game worth playing? Let’s find out!
Gameplay & Bonus Features
Honey Lock’s Pots is played on a five-reel, four-row layout, and there are 30 fixed paylines in play at all times. Wins are paid from left to right, and the game’s RTP is set very slightly above average, 96.03%.
Now, Wild symbols can land on all five reels, and when they do, there’s a chance that the Honeylock Expand feature can randomly trigger. When it does, all Wild symbols expand. If you play with Extra Bet activated, Wilds always expand when they land.
You will also notice that there are three honey symbols on the reels, each of which is tied to a specific feature. Diamond is Grabber, Heart is Expander, and Club is Prizepot. Any honey symbol that lands gives a random chance to trigger the bonus game with its corresponding feature active. Multiple Honey symbols can land in the same spin, potentially activating multiple features together.
Once the Bonus Game is triggered, you enter a Hold-and-Win-style feature, played on an expanded grid. You begin with 3 respins, and landing any symbol resets the respin counter back to 3. Any new symbols stick for the remainder of the feature, and the respins continue until the spins reach zero or until you fill the screen. During the feature, only coins and feature symbols can land.
Coins can carry values of 0.2x, 0.4x, 0.6x, 0.8x, 1x, 2x, 4x or 25x, while the Feature symbols all have their own effect:
- Grabber Feature: The Grabber symbol collects and adds the value of all other symbols on the play area to its own value upon landing.
- Prize Pot Feature: Each Prize Pot symbol advances an 8-step meter. Reaching a prize step adds that jackpot value to the Prizepot symbol.
- Expander Feature: The Expander unlocks 2-5 additional locked positions on the grid, and a maximum of 15 extra spots can be unlocked. The 8th and 15th unlock awards +1 life (up to 5 lives), too.
Bonus Buy
There are also three Bonus Buy options available if you live in a region where they’re allowed.
- 30x Bet: Bonus Game with 1 feature
- 50x Bet: Bonus Game with 2 features
- 85x: Bonus Game with all 3 features
There is also an extra bet that doubles your base game stake and makes it 2x more likely that you’ll trigger one of the bonus rounds.

Theme & Design
Honey Lock’s Pots takes inspiration from the Goldilocks tale but gives it a bright, cartoon-styled casino twist, which, we feel, actually works quite well! The game is set in quite a calm-looking woodland clearing, and you’ll see Honeylocks herself represented as the Wild symbol, with the three Bears acting as the icons for the Prizepot, Grabber, and Expander features; more on those shortly.
Visually, it reminds us quite a lot of Big Bad Wolf, but mechanically, it’s quite similar to Cash Truck, thanks to the Expander/Grabber mechanics. It’s not the best-designed Quickspin slot we’ve ever seen, sure, but it’s simple to play, animations are smooth and fluid, and there’s a decent soundtrack accompanying the action, too.
Pros
- Three bonuses and features which can all combine.
- Expanding Grid mechanic is decent.
- Three affordable Feature Buy options.
Cons
- Max win of 2,500x is a little low.
- Bonus Game is heavily reliant on symbol resets.
- Extra Bet doubles your base game stake.
Final Thoughts
Honey Lock’s Pots is a decent little release from Quickspin, and we like how the software provider has combined a fairy-tale theme with some pretty well-thought-out bonuses and features. We also like how you can combine Grabber, Expander, and Prizepot bonuses all at once, as this adds some meaningful depth, we feel.
Sure, it may not be quite what you’re expecting, especially if you’re used to seeing the mechanics in games like Cash Truck, and the maximum win potential of 2,500x is a little disappointing, we must say.
Still, that isn’t really the point of Honey Lock’s Pots. It’s clearly a video slot aimed at casual players and those wanting a laid-back slotting experience with a theme that’s familiar. It won’t appeal to those wanting to hit five-figure multipliers, sure, but if that’s not what you’re looking for, then yes, Honey Lock’s Pots is a nice little game to check out!
