Game Overview
Holly is a medium-volatility slot from Wicked Games, and it’s designed around a 5×3 layout with 25 fixed paylines. The game includes Creeping Wilds, regular Free Spins, Super Free Spins with enhanced multipliers, and an instant-win Wicked Spin symbol that pays up to 200x. With a maximum win potential of 3,000x, it doesn’t offer the best potential in the world, but is it worth checking out? Let’s find out!
Theme & Design
Holly is set in a frosted, wintery woodland wrapped in snow, pine branches, and soft, warm lighting. Visually, we’ve got to say, it’s really quite impressive, which is what we’ve found with most of Wicked Games’ slots. (You wouldn’t know from the game’s loading screen, however, where the logo looks like it was designed in Microsoft Paint!)
The reels themselves sit inside a carved wooden frame, with ivy wrapped around the borders and small fairy-lights glowing between the vines. It’s a clean, festive-looking slot, and it’s simple – but it works. If you’re unfamiliar with Wicked Games, you may also want to check out some of their other releases, like Eye of Gods and Book or Arabia.

Holly Gameplay & Bonus Features
Holly plays on a familiar-looking 5-reel, 3-row grid with 25 fixed paylines. You can stake between €0.25 and €500 per spin. The game uses a 96.16% RTP model in the base game, with slight variations depending on whether the Ante Bet or bonus buys are active.
There’s a decent feature range in Holly, and the first mechanic to be aware of is the Creeping Wilds. These special Wild symbols can land on any spin and appear with an arrow pointing up, down, left, or right. Every symbol in that direction becomes wild. Creeping Wilds can also reveal Scatters or Super Scatters if they are covered, ensuring the feature can still trigger correctly.
If you land 3 or 4 scatter symbols in view, you’ll receive 8 and 12 free spins respectively. Landing 2+ scatters during the bonus adds between 2-6 extra free spins, too. During the feature, landing a Super Scatter upgrades the bonus into Super Free Spins, too, which increases the win multiplier by +1, up to a maximum of 4x. Super Free Spins can also be triggered directly by landing 3+ Scatters with a Super Scatter in the base game.
Finally, there’s the Wicked Spin mechanic. This unique symbol lands only on reel 5, and if it lands on a non-winning spin, it will simply award an instant cash prize of between 20x and 200x.
Buy Bonus & Ante Bet
Holly contains two Bonus Buy options. The standard Free Spins can be purchased for 60x your base game stake, and the Super Free Spins can be purchased for 150x.
There is also an Ante Bet option which costs 2x your base game stake and increases the chance of triggering any free spins feature.
Pros
- Unique Creeping Wilds mechanic triggers frequently.
- Upgradeable multipliers during the Super Free Spins.
- Instant base game prizes of up to 200x.
Cons
- No modifiers in the standard Free Spins.
- Bonus Buy options seem expensive given the game’s max win limit.
- Super Free Spins are hard to trigger naturally.
Holly Slot Review Final Thoughts
Holly is another pretty decent-looking video slot from Wicked Games, and we actually (mostly) like the game’s mechanics. The Creeping Wilds feature keeps the base game entertaining, and the ability to get paid up to 200x as an instant win on a losing spin is a nice touch, too.
Unfortunately, we feel Wicked Games has missed the boat with the standard Free Spins bonus. There are no multipliers, no modifiers, no enhancements, and it’s only in the Super Free Spins that anything actually happens (the multiplier increases.) Why they’d design a free spins bonus with absolutely zero difference to the base game spins (on paper, anyway) is beyond us, and we feel this will turn some players away from the game before they’ve even tried it.
We also don’t love the fact that the game’s maximum win potential is capped at 3,000x. That means, if you use the Bonus Buy to purchase the Super Free Spins, at 150x, the MOST you can ever win back is 20 times your stake - which isn’t great, let’s be honest.
So, naturally, Holly won’t appeal to players looking for ultra-high volatility, extreme innovation, or huge win potential, but it’s a comfortable and “safe” slot with a good look to it and some decent base game mechanics.
