Hallo Win Slot (Red Tiger Gaming) Slot Demo & Review

Most of the games I have reviewed this year have been towards the higher end of the variance spectrum. Frankly, that usually suits me just fine – I’d rather win a big stack of cash a few times a year than hit a relatively small amount each week that I will only end up playing back anyway. With that in mind, I immediately had reservations about Red Tiger’s new Hallo Win online slot; with a maximum win of just 900x your bet, it’s evident that this is a much lower volatility game than I usually enjoy. The RTP of just 94.92% is a little on the stingy side as well – the industry average has settled at around 96% over the past decade, and you may be surprised to discover just how big a difference that extra 1.08% can make. I don’t have an issue with the 20 paylines, thankfully, so I won’t roast Red Tiger about that one!

Sadly, it’s only a brief respite for the developer today. I’m generally a fan of Red Tiger’s output, but Hallo Win seems incredibly basic by their usual standards. The intro screen mentions that the game was, in fact, developed by Cayetano, so perhaps Red Tiger is only acting as the publisher for this game. Whatever the case, special features are thin on the ground here – the game does feature locking wilds which become sticky until they become part of a winning combination, which is a nice touch.

Personally, I’m not the best at listening out for oversized vegetables grinning at me – if you think you have the skills to pay the bills, our free demo slot of Hallo Win is waiting for you below!

So we clearly have another Halloween-themed game on our hands here; the name “Hallo Win” is a fairly pleasant play on words, I suppose, although I doubt it will win any awards at next year’s comedy festival or anything. This year has seen a bumper crop of Halloween-themed online slots – perhaps it’s just that there are so many active developers these days, but I genuinely can’t remember another year where so many games were released based on this most unusual of festivals. Jack O Lantern’s Mystery Mirror, Break Bones, and Tricks and Treats are just a small sample off the top of my head of what I can remember reviewing already, and I suspect there will probably be many more new games still to come over the next week or two. Something tells me that Hallo Win isn’t going to be the best of the bunch, but perhaps I am being unfair – if you are a fan of lower-variance games, this one may be exactly what you are looking for.

Whether Red Tiger or Cayetano were responsible for developing this game, it still features the standard Red Tiger paytable, which definitely isn’t a positive thing. To calculate how much you can expect to win, you’ll need to divide your bet by the number of paylines and then multiply the result by what you see on the paytable. These are unnecessary steps that should be done in code, but I’m going to stop saying this in every Red Tiger game review now, as it feels pointless repeating the issue repeatedly.

So, our top-paying symbol is the wild, which is listed as being worth 500 for a full payline of five-of-a-kind on the paytable, which translates into just 25x your bet once you do all the math mentioned above. I expected something a bit better, if I’m honest, but the most confusing thing is that it should be possible to hit a full screen of these symbols, and that would be worth 1,000x your bet. The maximum jackpot listed on the paytable is stated as being 900x, so I’m genuinely unsure how that works. Then we have the pumpkin, worth just 5x the bet for all five symbols, a bat which pays 4x, some toffee apples at 3x for a full payline, and finally, a witches’ hat, also paying 3x your bet for five-of-a-kind. I’ve no idea why the returns are so low – I understand that it’s a low volatility game and all, but I can’t see where Red Tiger has used up the available RTP in this game.

I was surprised to see such a wide range of betting options available in this game, as Red Tiger often opts for a relatively small and sensible spread of wagers. If you want to play at €0.20 per spin, you can do so, and you can also go full on crazy and play at €100.00, too, if the mood takes you. Bigger bets make much more sense on lower variance games such as this one, but with so little to get excited about on the paytable, I still wouldn’t recommend you play too much higher than you usually would on any other game.

Base Game & Modifiers

Win Up To 900x Your Bet In The Hallo Win Slot From Red Tiger Gaming
Hallo Win slot base game

The base game is a little better than I had expected by this point, primarily because of the sticky wild feature. The game uses a standard 5×3 playfield with 20 fixed paylines, and all symbols appear in stacked configurations, which makes it much easier to win on large numbers of pay lines at once.

Sticky Wilds

If a wild lands on a non-winning spin, the symbol will become fixed in place for the next spin. If another wild lands on the next spin, but you still do not hit a winning payline, that symbol will also become sticky. By the time you have three wilds on the screen, it is very difficult not to hit a win, especially because the wilds can appear as double and triple-height symbols. In my opinion, this feature makes all the difference to this game, as without it, I believe it would not be very interesting to play.

Hallo Win Slot Bonus Features

The Bonus Feature Will Trigger Randomly On The Hallo Win Slot
Hallo Win slot bonus feature

The bonus round is awarded randomly, which feels odd to me. You could say that every slot awards its bonus rounds randomly as you never know when the scatter symbols will show up but leaving the scatters out and just triggering a bonus round any time, the game feels like it still feels wrong to me! Of course, it is nice when it happens, but why on earth didn’t they include any scatter symbols?

Free Spins

The free spins bonus is by far the best part of Hallo Win, as the sticky wild symbols become permanent for the duration of the feature. During the base game, wild symbols will disappear after they form part of a winning combination, whilst in the free spins feature, they will stick around until you run out of free spins, opening up the possibility of hitting a full screen of wild symbols.

Something must be amiss here, though, as a full screen of wilds would pay 1,000x your bet, and the paytable states that the maximum possible win is only 900x, so I’m not quite sure how to explain that one. There’s no chance of a re-trigger either, as there are no scatter symbols on the reels to cause one! Despite this, I always enjoy sticky wild features and had a couple of decent results while testing this slot.

Hallo Win Slot Review Final Thoughts

I think you can probably guess that I wasn’t overly impressed by Hallo Win – the game does get a few things right, but every good thing about it has been done better by another slot in the past. I’m sure you’ll enjoy spinning this game for an hour or two, but you are almost certain to forget all about it once that time is over.
