Game Overview
Game provider Pragmatic Play is back with another fun-looking slot named Greedy Wolf. I have to say the title is immaculately presented with cheeky-looking pigs who evidently don’t know that there’s a wolf on the prowl. I’m not sure what they are doing with those trowels and hammers – for protection, maybe? These guys plainly never read the story of the three little pigs, did they? Let’s not be too sad for the soon-to-be-eaten pigs, as they are featuring in their own 20 fixed payline slot machine with a 3,000x maximum win and an RTP of 96.48% or 96.51% if you choose to pay a little more for the ante bet.
We’ve got a few modifiers here – the greedy wolf wild, triggered whenever a special stacked wolf appears on reel three, a three little pigs re-spin feature which can occur randomly on any base game spin, and even a guaranteed win modifier which will ensure you receive either 20x your current bet or maybe even direct entry to the main free spin bonus round.
Are you afraid of the big bad wolf? No, me either, but just to make sure you outwit him at every possible opportunity, brush up on your playing skills by trying out our Greedy Wolf demo slot. It’s free to try below.
Greedy Wolf Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
I’m not quite sure how to describe the theme of Greedy Wolf. I mean, it’s a three little pigs story game that is unique; how many more of those have you seen on the web recently? It’s almost a shame that the big bad wolf is on the prowl, as by the end of the day, at least one of these happy-looking chappies is going to become the meal for an evil, greedy wolf who believes, through no fault of his own – evolution has dictated his motivation – that cute means dinner. So, I guess it’s a tale of sorrow, similar to Romeo and Juliet, isn’t it? I wouldn’t make a great Shakespeare, but I’ll bet my version would be much more fun to read; raise your hand if you enjoyed reading that trash at school. Yeah, that’s what I thought! Anyway, my ramblings aside, if you want to try out a couple more piggy-themed games here on our demo slots website, fire up the Piggy Riches Megaways free play slot. Alternatively, Blueprint’s Pig Wizard Megaways is another fantastic choice.
Next, it’s the pays section, and at the top of the paytable, we have the Wild symbol worth 25x the bet for a five of a kind win. As for the regular symbols, of course, the Greedy Wolf comes next with a return of 20x, followed by the Three Little Pigs, who all pay 10x your bet for a full line of five. Dropping down to the lower pays, the Hammer and Trowel share payouts of 5x, the Ace and King are both valued at 4x and finally, the Queen and Jack share rewards of 3x for a winning combination of five.
You can bet between €0.20 and €100.00 per spin when playing the Greedy Wolf slot game, but Pragmatic Play still insists on bringing up their three-part window when you click on the plus and minus buttons on either side of the spin button. These controls allow you to set coin size and number of coins, but it’s all pretty arbitrary when all that matters is the total size of the bet.
Greedy Wolf Slot Base Game & Modifiers
The base game in Greedy Wolf takes place on a 5×4 playfield; wins are paid for hitting three or more matching symbols from left to right in the standard online slot fashion, but the modifiers that Pragmatic Play has included make this a much more exciting base game than it would otherwise be. The slightly enlarged playfield doesn’t make up for needing six scatters to trigger the bonus, though, so I would probably play this one with the ante bet turned on. See below for details.
Greedy Wolf Wild Modifier
A stacked wolf symbol will randomly appear on reel three and transform all pig symbols into wolf symbols. The game will then pay you based on this layout. The profitability of this modifier depends on how many wolf symbols you already had on the screen and how many pigs were present at the time – it can pay huge, but it can also pay nothing, sadly.
Three Little Pigs Modifier
This is an interesting one. At the beginning of a random spin, several wilds will be added to reels one, two, and three. You will then be paid as if the spin had finished, but hold up – the greedy wolf will then appear and may move your wilds one position to the right and trigger a re-spin with the wilds locked in place. This can re-occur a couple of times, but eventually, the big bad wolf will blow all your wilds down (well, off the screen), and the feature will end. The game pays you after each re-spin, so if you get a decent number of wilds in good positions, this is another feature that can land you some serious base game winnings.
Guaranteed Win Modifier
This one sounds slightly better than it is, as the guaranteed win is only 20x. Almost every time I saw this feature occur, that is precisely what I got, but on two occasions, additional scatters were added to the screen, and the free spins bonus round was triggered. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s a great freebie!
Ante Bet
For 25% more than your regular bet, you can reduce the number of scatters required to trigger the bonus from six to five. I recommend playing with this option on, as hitting six scatters is a bit too difficult, really, in my opinion.
Greedy Wolf Slot Bonus Features
Hit six or more scatter symbols, and you will find yourself in the Greedy Wolf slot’s main feature, a free spin bonus round where you start with six spins. All triggering scatters will be marked with a square made of straw.
Free Spins Feature
During the bonus round, you want more scatter symbols to land in the same spaces as the existing squared scatters, which will upgrade them progressively to wood, brick, and, finally, a castle. It seems there’s been a little addition to the story since I was a kid!
At the end of the bonus round, all your scatters will convert into houses, and the wolf will turn up and attempt to blow them down. When the wolf blows the houses away, a random cash prize will be revealed behind them – the better the material the scatter is surrounded by, the higher the prize will be. Castle scatters can be worth several hundred times your bet, so if you somehow manage a few of those, you could hit the game’s maximum payout of 3,000x, and any further winnings will be forfeited.
Extra spins can also be awarded when the feature is in play, and hitting three, four, or five scatters at once will add one, two, or four extra free spins to your remaining counter, respectively.
Pros
- A fun theme that has been well presented by Pragmatic.
- Will suit players who like less complicated slots.
Cons
- The maximum win of 3,000x is low.
Greedy Wolf Slot Review Final Thoughts
I wasn’t expecting much from Greedy Wolf, but I was pleasantly surprised – the bonus round, in particular, is quite exciting as you upgrade your houses and eagerly wait to find out how much they are worth. Even if the theme seems a little childish, the game plays well and pays well, too – it’s just a shame about that 3,000x win cap, as I could imagine it would be possible to get roughly double that in a seriously lucky bonus round. Still a recommended game, though – go find it!
