Slot Overview

Gold Strike Express is a volatile mining-themed slot from Blueprint Gaming, built around cash prize symbols, persistent collection mechanics, and a train packed with prizes that rolls above the reels on every spin. The game includes Cash Prizes, Collect Symbols, a Cash Feature, Super Spins, Gold Strike Express Trains, Express Spins, and an optional Express Bet. You can win up to 7,000x your bet! Learn all about the game here in this detailed review.

Theme & Design

Gold Strike Express is unashamedly “mining themed”, although, for us, it does a much better job than other Blueprint Gaming releases like Diamond Mine or even Diamond Mine 2. It’s really well-designed, and the reels are situated inside a golden mine, with a railroad that runs in front of the reels.

It looks bright, busy, and familiar if you’ve played Blueprint’s other collect-style games, and if you look above the reels, you’ll see the game’s three in-game jackpots. Below the reels there are some TNT sticks, and in the bottom left-hand corner you’ll see the “Express Bet” option; more info on that shortly.

Gold Strike Express Gameplay & Bonus Features

Gold Strike Express is played on a five-reel, three-row layout. There are 20 fixed paylines in play at all times. You can bet between €0.10 and €20 per spin. The RTP is fixed at slightly below-average at 95%.

Now, the game’s main mechanic is the Cash Prize symbols, and these can land anywhere with cash values between 1x and 500x. Collect symbols can also land, and when they do, they transform into whatever prize sits above on the train tracks, a core mechanic that changes with each spin. This train track can display fixed cash values, Minor/Major/Grand Gems, or nothing. If a Collect symbol hits below a prize-bearing carriage, that prize is awarded instantly.

If you manage to land 6+ Cash Prize symbols, or 5 Cash Prize symbols + 1 Train symbol, you trigger the Cash Feature. Here, only Cash Prizes, Collect symbols, Trains or blanks appear, and you begin with 3 spins. Every time a new symbol lands, the counter resets, and this is a pretty standard Hold & Spin feature. Filling all 15 positions pays an instant cash prize of 1,000x, too.

Now, if you manage to fill 14 of 15 positions, you trigger Super Spins. Here, only Minor, Major, and Grand prizes appear on the train. If you land a Train symbol during the Cash Feature, you upgrade to Gold Strike Express, where up to 5 special Express Trains travel across the track and award every prize in their carriages.

Extra Bet

Gold Strike Express doesn’t include a Bonus Buy, but there is an Extra Bet mechanic. This increases your stake by 1.5x and increases the chances of triggering the Cash Feature.

Pros

  • Win up to 7,000x your bet.
  • Packed with features like Cash Collects, Super Spins, and Gold Strike Express.
  • Superb graphics and visuals.

Cons

  • Below-average RTP of 95%.
  • The Train Track values often aren’t great.
  • Bonuses can be quite poor if Cash Prizes don’t land.

Gold Strike Express Slot Review Final Thoughts

Gold Strike Express is a classic Blueprint collect-style release, but noticeably more feature-packed and complex than many of their older releases. We actually really like the train mechanic above the reels, as it gives every spin a sense of unpredictability. When you add the Cash Feature, Super Spins, and Gold Strike Express bonuses into the mix, you start to see a pretty comprehensive and bonus-layered game.

Of course, the trade-off here is volatility. The base game can be brutal, and even the bonus rounds don’t often pay overly well either. The game’s RTP is also a bit below average at 95%, but this is to be expected from a game like this.

Sure, Gold Strike Express doesn’t reinvent the wheel, nor does it offer anything brand new. Still, if you enjoy Cash Collect-style slots or enjoy the unpredictability of Blueprint Gaming slots, then it’s worth checking out; the 7,000x maximum win potential doesn’t hurt, either, even if it’s not the highest in the world by today’s online slots standards.
