Slot Overview
Ghostly Hallows is a high-volatility Cascading Reels slot from Backseat Gaming, and it combines a haunted pirate theme (with a VERY similar name to a VERY popular Harry Potter movie) with Persistent Multipliers and unique Explosive Cannon mechanics. There’s some pretty explosive win potential, too, up to 20,000x, but can this ghostly game deliver, or will it leave you feeling as though you’ve walked through Nick Cannon at Hogwarts? Let’s find out.
Theme & Design
Ghostly Hallows leans heavily into a supernatural pirate aesthetic. The action is set against misty waters, rotting docks, and glowing ghost lights. So, despite the name, we feel it’s actually much more accurate to say this feels similar to Pirates of the Caribbean than Harry Potter!
Still, it’s definitely one of the better-looking Backseat Gaming releases, which checks with some of their recent games like Diamond Mole and Power Pops. You’ll see the reels set on a cartoon-like backdrop, and it’s simple, yes, but it works well! The symbols also stand out quite nicely, too, which makes actually playing the game simple and straightforward.

Ghostly Hallows Gameplay & Bonus Features
Ghostly Hallows uses a 6-reel, 5-row layout with an all-scatter, ways-to-win system. Wins are formed by landing 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid. You can bet from €0.10 to €50 per spin, and the game operates on a default RTP of 96.3%.
Now, all wins in Ghostly Hallows trigger a Tumble Mechanic. Winning symbols are removed from the reels, and new ones fall down to take their place. Cascades continue until no further wins are formed. Also worth noting is that before each spin, up to five multipliers can apply to random positions on the grid. When a winning combo covers a multiplier spot, that multiplier is then applied to the total win cascade for that spin.
If a Cannon symbol lands during a winning spin, the cannon fires, and applies the multiplier inside to the total tumble win.
The Cannon of the Damned bonus round is triggered by landing 3 Bonus Scatter symbols in view. This awards 10 free games, and any multipliers that are collected in the Cannon are persistent, until it’s fired by a Cannon symbol.
The Ghostly Pirate’s Trail bonus is triggered by landing 4 Bonus Scatter symbols, and again, awards 10 free games. Here, the stored multiplier is persistent for the entire duration of the bonus, regardless of whether the cannon fires.
Bonus Buy / FeatureSpins
Ghostly Hallows includes several bonus purchase options. Bonushunt FeatureSpins cost 2x and offer an enhanced chance of landing the bonus round; Cursed FeatureSpins cost 50x and guarantee a cannon symbol on each spin, while Cannon of the Damned and Ghostly Pirate’s Trail Free Spins cost 100x and 250x respectively.
Pros
- Solid maximum win potential of 20,000x.
- Two very different bonus rounds.
- Strong multiplier mechanics.
Cons
- High volatility can result in long dry spells.
- Stored multipliers are often lost in the base game.
- Bonus Buy/FeatureSpins options unavailable in some markets.
Ghostly Hallows Slot Review Final Thoughts
Ghostly Hallows is a well-designed high-volatility slot that focuses squarely on multiplier-driven action. The cannon mechanic is pretty good and adds a decent layer of suspense to every spin, and we do like how the tumble mechanics ensure that wins can go on for some time, too.
Now, Ghostly Hallows is definitely a volatile game, especially in the base game , and it can be pretty annoying when multipliers disappear in the base game without being fired. Still, both bonus rounds are solid, especially Ghostly Pirate's Trail, and the maximum win potential of 20,000x will tempt a lot of players (including us) into giving this a play!
