Pros
- A different take on the "Gates of" franchise, which was much needed.
- Hades can award multipliers in the base game and the bonus round.
- In the super free spins, the minimum multiplier that can be revealed is 10x.
- The RTP at its best variant is 96.52%.
- Uses cluster pays instead of scatter pays.
Cons
- Some may still find it too similar to the hordes of other games in the series.
- RTP varaints as low as 94.47% can be used by operators.
- The standard free spins will have to go some to award a max win, as the awaarded multipliers can be low.
- You'll need to rack up the multipiers above the reels as the lower paying symbols don't pay much.
Gates of Hades Slot Review Final Thoughts
Whenever you see a "Gates of" title appear as a new release, you can't help but think you've seen it all before, and likely the best of what the franchise has to offer, with games like Gates of Olympus 1000 and Gates of Olympus Super Scatter proving to be real winners with players.
I was taken aback a bit today, as when I opened up Gates of Hades, it looked to have a new twist on the franchise, and in all honesty, although I'd long grown tired of playing these types of games, I did enjoy my time on this whilst reviewing it. So, what's new, you ask? Although we've seen vague variations of this before, multiplier wilds are thrown onto the reels, which are then stored above that respective reel and applied to any winning combos that spread across it. Wondering how that happens? That's because Pragmatic has opted to use a cluster pays engine this time instead of the usual scatter pays.
The good news is that the multipliers appear in the base game, and as you'd expect, in the free spins, they become persistent above the reels for the duration of the bonus. Those playing from jurisdictions where bonus buys are allowed can take advantage of the super buy option, where all multipliers that appear will have a minimum value of 10x.
Wrapping things up, Gates of Hades is a nice variation on a tried and tested gaming engine, but will it be enough to dethrone the legendary Gates of Olympus titles? Let's wait and see.
