Game Overview
SG’s Rainbow Riches slot has a lot to answer for as far as clones and games featuring the iconic Irish leprechaun is concerned. Gaelic Luck has obviously taken a little influence from the enormously popular Rainbow Riches franchise, but Playtech’s addition of three “lucky lasses” gives Gaelic Luck a unique feel – unlike games such as “Plenty of Fortune”, which were much more blatant in their “homage” to IGT’s classic slot. Gaelic luck is a five-reel, 20 payline game with an impressive RTP of 97.06% and an even more impressive maximum win per free spin of 100,000x your total stake.
There isn’t much to talk about in terms of modifiers and bonuses in Gaelic Luck. The base game does have some potential, but the majority of that super high 97.06% RTP is locked away behind the multipliers which are only available during the “Lucky Lasses” free spins. We’ll talk more about this later.

Gaelic Luck Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
I think we have already covered Playtech’s influences when creating Gaelic Luck, this is definitely not just a a clone slot of Rainbow Riches. One of the problems with that game was the large number of different features that were activated by different symbols, you could end up with two leprechauns, two wishing wells, and two jackpot symbols filling the reels, but awarding nothing whilst also blocking regular winning combinations. These problems must have gone unnoticed by typical slots players, as Rainbow Riches undoubtedly evolve into a formidable franchise – Playtech knew better though and limited the number of different scatter symbols on the reels to just one.
Let’s talk about the paytable now -Playtech claim’s you can win 100,000x your stake from a single free spin so how exactly does this work? Well, the pot of gold wild symbol pays 10,000x your line bet should you score five on a payline. The game logo picture symbol pays 50x your stake for five-of-a-kind. And those three pretty girls? 1,000x for the redhead,500x for the blonde, and 400x for the brunette. Personally, I’d have given the blonde the highest pay out – how about you?
As for the betting range, Playtech are still using coins, so you can play a single cent per line if you want to. With 20 paylines that means €0.20 is the minimum stake if you want to bet every payline, Playtech still give you the option of playing a single line if you want to, however – a rarity in the current market. The maximum bet is €20.00 per payline.
Base Game & Modifiers
There isn’t too much to talk about as far as the base game goes in the Gaelic Luck online slot. You can still win big if you hit full lines of wilds or the other high paying symbols, but the truth is that you are going to be spending your time on this game praying for the scatters to drop. These only appear on reels one and five, and are represented by a four-leaf clover wrapped in a horseshoe – come on, with a symbol like that, you just have to win big in the feature… right?
Gaelic Luck Slot Free Spins Feature
When you are lucky enough to score both of those four-leaf-clover-wrapped-in-a-horseshoe symbols, you will then be asked to pick from one of the three lucky lasses. The bonus round doesn’t change regardless of who you pick, but the girl you choose does determine how many free spins you will receive. Sometimes the girs will decide they don’t like you anymore and will only offer you 3 spins. If you pick the right girl on the right day, however, then the maximum of 20 spins could be yours.
With your girl chosen and your number of free spins decided, there is one more thing you will need – a multiplier. The game will offer you six four-leaf clovers to choose from. You could end up with just a 2x multiplier – when this happens, it reminds me of another Playtech classic – Great Blue. In that game, it can take forever to get the free spins – much like Gaelic Luck – so when it happens, you really want to get a nice high multiplier and lots of free spins.
In Gaelic Luck, if you pick the right clover you can end up with a 10x multiplier. Comparing this game to Great Blue once again, the maximum number of free spins and the highest multiplier are both much lower in Gaelic Luck. On the other hand, the RTP of Gaelic Luck is several percentage points higher than Great Blue. In many ways, you can consider this game as a more balanced, less volatile version of Great Blue.
If you want to hit the top win, you are going to need the maximum 10x multiplier and then score a full screen of wilds during the free spins. There are no videos of anybody actually achieving such a hit on YouTube, so it is probably extremely mathematically unlikely. To the best of my knowledge, nobody has ever hit a full screen of wilds on Great Blue at the 15x multiplier either. The bottom line here is that you shouldn’t take Playtech’s numbers too seriously. Yes, a 100,000x stake win is possible in the Gaelic Lucks slot game – but I would guess that the odds of it ever actually landing are in the hundreds of millions to one kind of range.
Gaelic Luck Slot Review Final Thoughts
I love the bonus round in Gaelic Luck – when you hit 20 spins at the 10x multiplier and hit a couple of retriggers too, you only need one really good spin to walk away with several thousand times your stake. Forget the 100,000x figure though – if it ever does happen, it will probably be a once in century event.
But don’t let this put you off – Gaelic Luck offers a decent base game and a free spins bonus that turns the excitement up to 11 – no matter how unlikely that jackpot may be, simply knowing it is possible is enough keep you coming back for more; just like those lotteries I mentioned, somebody MUST win eventually!
