Slot Overview

Full Moon: White Thunder is a slot from Playtech that’s played on a 5-reel, 4-row setup with 1,024 ways to win. The game combines African wildlife with sticky Moon mechanics, and you can look forward to Expanding Rhino Wilds, Cascading Moons, and two bonus rounds. With a maximum win potential of 5,000x, it looks… OK, but is it worth playing? Let’s find out.

Gameplay & Bonus Features

Full Moon: White Thunder is played on a 5×5 reel grid with 1,024 ways to win, and wins are formed from left to right. You can bet between €0.20 to €500 per spin, and the game’s RTP is 95.93% in the base game and 95.95% when using the Bonus Buy.

At the core of the base game are two Wild symbols: RHINO and RHINOx2. Both substitute for all regular symbols except Moon symbols, while the RHINOx2 applies a 2x multiplier to any wins it helps to form. Both of these Wilds are stacked on all 5 reels, too.

Full Moon: White Thunder also has special Moon symbols. There are six types of Moon symbols:

  • Cash Moon: Awards 0.5x to 7.5x your bet.
  • Multiplier Moon: Adds multipliers worth between 2x and 10x.
  • Bonus Moon: Reveals an instant win between 10x and 1,000x.
  • Blue Moon: Freezes itself and other Moons on its reels for 2-5 spins, before turning into a 0.5x Cash Moon.
  • Blood Moon: Triggers the Moon Push feature, when combined correctly.
  • Extra Spins Moon: Appears during the Moon Collect Bonus and awards additional spins.

When Moon land, they lock in place for the next spin. If no new Moons land on the following spin, existing ones drop down by one position. If 6+ Moons land, the Moon Collect Bonus is triggered. This is your standard 3 Respin-type feature. Triggering Moons lock in place, and during the bonus, only Moons can land. All Moons are then paid at the end of the feature.

Now, if you land five or more Moon symbols alongside one Blood Moon, the Moon Push Feature is triggered. You, again, start with 3 Respins, and each spin shifts Moon symbols down one row, and any Blood Moon resets the spin counter back to three. Symbols reaching the bottom row are then “processed”: Multiplier Moons increase Cash Moons on that row before transforming, and Bonus Moons reveal their prizes.

Bonus Buy

Full Moon: White Thunder also contains a Bonus Buy option. It costs just 45x, and it also increases the game’s RTP very slightly, to 95.95%.

Theme & Design

Full Moon: White Thunder takes you to the African savannah, and you’ll be playing underneath a glowing night sky. In the background, you’ll see a warm desert and trees in the distance, and the reels themselves are framed in carved wooden panels, and it looks, actually, quite good!

If you enjoyed Blueprint Gaming’s Full Moon Fever or like African Elephant, from Pragmatic Play, then Full Moon: White Thunder is probably a game you’ll resonate with, these-wise, at least.

Pros

  • Two different Hold & Win bonuses.
  • Expanding Rhino Wilds with 2x multipliers.
  • Affordable Bonus Buy available.

Cons

  • RTP is very slightly below average.
  • The game’s maximum win potential of 5,000x is a tad low.
  • Bonus Buy unavailable in some regions.

Final Thoughts

Full Moon: White Thunder is a feature-driven slot from Playtech, and while it doesn’t offer much in the way of innovation (the Hold & Win-style bonus is something we’ve seen thousands of times by now), we do like, at least, that the studio has tried to offer some variation.

The Moon Push Bonus is where the game’s biggest wins will come from, and we like that it doesn’t seem overly difficult to land; this means you can probably expect a good balance of regular features and the occasional “decent” hit.

Still, there’s no denying that the game’s mechanics and somewhat low maximum win potential of 5,000x mean Full Moon: White Thunder may not appeal to everyone. We get that, but still, we can't help but feel that Full Moon: White Thunder is a decent little release from Playtech, and one that’s probably worth a few spins if you get the chance.
