Game Overview
Ever wondered what NetEnt’s Dead or Alive would look like if it were set in the future… and the past at the same time? Nope, me either, but it sure seems as though Play’N’Go has been giving it some thought! The new Fortune Rewind slot game blends Wild West imagery with items from the past and an imaginary future. It’s a unique idea that results in a unique look and feel, but some things never change – 20 fixed pay lines, a maximum win of 8,500x your bet, and a 96.2% RTP are all par for the course with Play’N’Go.
The feature set is typically Play’N’Go as well; wild symbols appear on all five reels, whilst a time modulator scatter symbol triggers the free spin bonus round with multipliers of up to 20x. The base game includes two modifiers – the wild rewind, which can only be triggered after a non-paying spin, and fast-forward, which upgrades winning combinations with better paying symbols.
So, we have a unique look and feel alongside Play’N’Go’s trademark higher-than-average RTP and maximum win – how can you go wrong? Why not fire up our free demo slot of Fortune Rewind below and get a feel for the new game yourself?
Fortune Rewind Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Play’N’Go seem to have been influenced by at least half a dozen pieces of popular culture when creating this game! NetEnt’s iconic Dead or Alive slot machine must surely have been at least a partial influence looking at the backdrop, and many of the symbols on the reels, whilst the storyline displayed as the game is opening feels reminiscent of Back to the Future! Actually, several things in this game remind me of that 1985 classic movie, but there’s more – who can spot the symbol that looks as if it was inspired by the classic sci-fi film Stargate?! It should be a jumbled-up mess of too many different influences, but somehow Play’N’Go seems to have made things work and it all gels together nicely. Nice going, guys!
Everything seemed to be going far too well as I was looking at this new release, so I opened the paytable cautiously – Play’N’Go couldn’t mess this one up, could they? The first page makes a great start, listing the “wild power cell” as the highest-paying symbol with a return of 500x your bet for a full pay line of five-of-a-kind. That’s a really big base game hit that I can’t imagine shows up very often, so how about the regular symbols? We have a gold watch with a return of 23x your bet for all five, a pair of rocket boots that pay 16x, and a Walkman that pays 13x for a complete pay line. Those are some pretty random symbols, but we’re not done – the Sheriffs badge will pay you 10x your bet for five-of-a-kind, the Egyptian mask guy pays 9x, and the dinosaur head is worth 8x. Some of these symbols are obviously from the future, whilst others are from the past, whilst the scribbles dotted around the edges of the paytable highlight the time travel theme that all of this implies. It’s a solid and commendable effort to build some story into an online slot that you don’t see very often.
As for the betting range, Play’N’Go always uses the same user interface, letting you choose a bet from a minimum of €0.10 to a maximum of €100.00 per round. Some casinos may lower the maximum bet, but the minimum will likely be the same everywhere you find this game.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game has few surprises – it’s a typical 5×3 layout with 20 fixed paylines. The wild symbol has a huge payoff for the maximum five-of-a-kind combination, but this is the exception to the rule. There is no payout attached to the scatter symbols, and all the regular symbols pay for matching three or more symbols on adjacent reels starting from the left. There are two base game modifiers, explained below:
Wild Rewind Modifier
This modifier only triggers after a non-paying base game spin. The wild power cells will send you back in time, re-spinning all the symbols around them and adding additional wilds to the screen until you hit a win. I managed to dodge a win six times whilst I was testing this game, eventually hitting a base game win of 81x my stake – not bad at all!
Fast Forward Modifier
This modifier works in the opposite way to the wild rewind; it only triggers after a winning base game spin and sends you forward in time! All your winning symbols will be upgraded, and the surrounding symbols will re-spin to give you a second chance at boosting the value of your winning combination.
Fortune Rewind Slot Bonus Features
Many Play’N’Go slots only contain three scatter symbols on the reels, but that is not true with Fortune Rewind. All five reels include a scatter symbol, and hitting three or more of these will trigger the Time Warp free spins.
During this mode, the low-paying royal symbols are removed from the reels, leaving only the higher paying symbols. You will warp through several eras as your bonus round progresses, and all wins will be multiplied according to the number of triggering scatters:
- 3 Scatters: 15x Multiplier
- 4 Scatters: 17x Multiplier
- 5 Scatters: 20x Multiplier
I would usually say that Play’N’Go could have done a little more to differentiate the feature from the base game, but I feel as if the huge multipliers applied to your winnings here are more than enough to please most players.
Fortune Rewind Slot Review Final Thoughts
It’s quite staggering – how does Play’N’Go fill their paytable with all those big wins yet still include a multiplier of between 15x and 20x during the free spin bonus round? I only played this game for a little over an hour but had excellent results – this is definitely a game I will be looking to play for real money as soon as possible. I recommend you do the same!
