Game Overview
Fortune Red Packets is a casual Minesweeper-style casino game from BGaming, and, as the name suggests, it’s themed entirely around Chinese (or Lunar) New Year. It’s a low-variance game that’s played on a 5×12 grid, and it’s designed, in our opinion, to be “kinder” than many of the instant win Crash games we’ve seen released recently. Is it any good, though? Let’s find out.
Gameplay & Bonus Features
Fortune Red Packets is played on a 5×12 grid, and each row contains five tiles. You simply choose how much you want to bet per round – which varies between €1 and €500 – and click “Start”. Fortune Red Packets has an RTP of 98.40%, which is very strong.
Now, on each row, four tiles hide golden coins while one hides a firecracker. You simply need to select a coin, and if a multiplier is revealed, the next row is unlocked, and the multiplier is applied against your total bet and added to the win counter for that round. If you hit a firecracker, the round ends.
After any successful multiplier reveal, you can also click cash-out. This allows you to end the round at any time, and the current cashout value is always visible on the screen, too.

Theme & Design
Fortune Red Packets is very fittingly designed around the Chinese New Year theme. The game is presented in rich reds, golden trims, lanterns, and temple-style buildings. The presentation is actually quite nice and relaxing – and it feels a lot more “put together” than a lot of the Crash games we’ve seen released recently.
If you enjoy games like Chinese New Year, or Floating Dragon New Year Festival Ultra Megaways: Hold & Spin, then Fortune Red Packets will probably be right up your street. We really like how BGaming has managed to introduce a subtle cultural theme, too, and it works well; it’s respectful of Chinese culture, but also immerses you in the game once you start playing!
Pros
- Solid RTP of 98.40%.
- Clear, intuitive layout and easy to understand mechanics.
- Flexible cashout system.
Cons
- No bonus rounds of free spins.
- Very repetitive after a few rounds.
- Max bet is quite high, at €1.
Final Thoughts
Fortune Red Packets is definitely not the worst instant win/crash-style game we’ve reviewed recently, and it’s actually quite a bit of fun, provided you stick to short sessions. The reality is, however, after a while, it gets very repetitive, very quickly, and there’s simply nothing actually happening besides some slowly increasing multiplier prizes.
There are no bonus rounds or free spins features, but that’s not what Fortune Red Packets is designed for. It’s made for players wanting something that offers the instant win “thrill”, but without the volatility seen in many Crash games, so if that’s you, Fortune Red Packets is probably worth a play.
Yes, the maximum win potential isn’t amazing, but the RTP is fantastic, at 98.4%, and if you fancy an instant win game to kill a few minutes here and there - Fortune Red Packets is worth a look.
