Game Overview

The ancient Greek town of Olympos seems to punch well above its weight when it comes to online slots, as there must be at least two dozen machines based around the location on the island of Karpathos by now. To put that into context, even Big Bass Bonanza hasn’t made it into the 20+ game range…. Yet! I’m sure that the guys at Pragmatic Play are working as hard as they can to make it possible! In the meantime, I guess we’ll have to make do with Forge of Olympus, a Pragmatic Play scatter-pay online slot offering a 96.25% RTP alongside a maximum jackpot prize of 5,000x the player’s stake.

Unfortunately, the game does look a little bit overly familiar at first glance – the scatter-pay mechanic utilised here doesn’t look like it has changed at all since Sweet Bonanza and its many clones, which were already clones of another Pragmatic Play slot! Do you think you might be overdoing it a little, guys? Ah well, on the bright side, if you are going to clone a slot, then you should at least make sure to pick a good one, and in my view, the feature set on offer here is one of the best to feature in any Pragmatic Play machine for some time. The highlight of Forge of Olympus is undoubtedly its multiplier symbols, which can pay up to 100x the total bet for everyone visible on the screen. During the bonus round, multipliers are accumulated between spins, and there are also multiple levels which guarantee increasingly more valuable multipliers in subsequent rounds. If you’re feeling impatient, be sure to turn the bonus bet option on or skip straight to some free spins using the bonus buy facility – you’ll be missing out on a great base game, though!

I wonder if I’ve got it wrong, and this one has nothing to do with previous Olympus-themed games? It could just be that the guy on the screen to the right of the reels is called Olympus, and he’s just busy working on his forge. Take a look at our free demo slot of Forge of Olympus below and see what you make of it!

Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols

Forge Of Olympus Paytable

A quick glance at the symbols on the paytable does make it somewhat ambiguous as to whether this game is intended to be related to previous slots that include the word ‘Olympus’ in their titles. Examples include Masters of Olympus, Olympus Hades Megaways, and Rise of Olympus 100, but there are plenty more worth checking out if you have a strange obsession with the word Olympus for some reason! The guy who features in this game could easily be Poseidon, Hades, or Zeus, but there certainly is no guarantee. I don’t think it’s too important though!

Scatter-pay games such as this award prizes for hitting eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the screen – no payline or payway structure required! However, the biggest wins require you to hit at least 12 matches, and the most valuable symbol in this game – the Gold Medallion – offers a maximum prize of 50x the total bet for a 12+ symbol combination. The Helm sits in second place with a top payout of 25x for 12+ symbols, followed by the Goblet at 15x and the Signet Ring at 12x. The low-paying symbols use simple coloured geometric shapes – a Yellow Triangle returns up to 10x, followed by the Green Quadrilateral at 8x, the Blue Square at 5x, a Pink Teardrop at 4x, and a Red Diamond at 2x.

There’s nothing to complain about regarding the betting range Forge of Olympus offers. There are minimum/maximum permitted bets of €0.20 and €100.00 per spin respectively, and Pragmatic Play’s three-way controls allow most multiples of the minimum bet until you run into the upper limit.

Base Game & Modifiers

Forge Of Olympus Base Game
Forge of Olympus base game

The reel set utilised by Forge of Olympus features six columns of five symbols each, for a total of 30 unique positions. That’s a fairly good number, as it allows you to win up to three times from the initial symbol drop. Thirty-six would have been even nicer though! That’s because 12 symbols are required for the game’s largest payouts, so a slightly larger grid would have permitted three maximum wins per symbol drop.

Multiplier Symbol

The multiplier symbol looks a lot like Thor’s hammer. It’s present on all six reels and can hit randomly during initial symbol drops and subsequent cascades in the base game and free spins. Whenever a multiplier symbol lands, it will take a random value of between 2x and 100x the total bet.

At the end of each game round, the values shown on all visible multiplier symbols will be added together before being awarded as a total win.

Bonus Bet

Enabling this option will increase the cost of each spin by 25%, but in return, you’ll be guaranteed to win more bonus rounds than you would without it. There is a slight drop in RTP when playing with the bonus bet, but it’s so tiny that it would not put me off as a player (0.02%).

Forge Of Olympus Slot Bonus Features

Forge Of Olympus Free Spin Feature

The main bonus round requires at least four scatter symbols to trigger. You’ll win 10 free spins for four scatters, increasing to 15 or 20 spins for five or six symbols, respectively. There’s also a cash prize of up to 100x the total bet for a six scatter trigger.

Free Spins

At the start of each bonus round, you’ll find yourself back at level one, where the multiplier symbols can have the same 2x to 100x values as those which land during the base game. Collecting multiplier symbols will progress you through the game’s levels – six multiplier symbols will increase the minimum value of all subsequent multipliers to 8x, followed by 15x at level three and 50x at level four. Hitting three or more scatters whilst the feature is active will add five extra free spins to your remaining total.

Bonus Buy

If you’d rather just play the bonus round than the base game, you can skip straight there by paying 100x the total bet. The number of triggering scatter symbols is determined randomly.

Pros

  • I love the design of this slot – even if it is recycled from previous Pragmatic Play machines.
  • Multipliers can accumulate fast during a lucky bonus round.
  • Even the base game is capable of some big hits on a good day.

Cons

  • The 5,000x jackpot just isn’t large enough for a game such as this.
  • As good as the machine is, Pragmatic Play needs to quit cloning it now.

Forge of Olympus Slot Review Final Thoughts

Don’t get me wrong, Forge of Olympus is a hugely fun slot that, in isolation, would be one of my favourite games for sure. The trouble is, I’ve already seen all of this before – quite a few times now, actually – and the developer really should add something new into the formula if they are going to keep on reusing it to this extent.
