Slot Overview

Floating Dragon Wild Horses is a high-volatility video slot from Reel Kingdom that combines elements of Chinese mythology with the (overly) familiar collect-based free spins mechanic. With a maximum win potential of just 5,000x, it may not match the explosive potential from the Big Bass Bonanza series, but is it worth a play? Let’s find out.

Design & Theme

Reel Kingdom’s Floating Dragon series has proven to be almost as successful as its Big Bass Bonanza line-up, although, in our opinion, these games are targeted more to the Asian market and players who don’t care so much about the win potential found in many recent Big Bass releases. We’ve already seen a few spin-offs and sequels, including the likes of Floating Dragon Megaways and Floating Dragon Boat Festival, and now, it’s Wild Horse’s turn!

Floating Dragon Wild Horses is perhaps the most interesting-looking of the games, however, and visually, it’s actually pretty well done, we feel. The reels sit against a fiery sky backdrop where cloud-like shapes form the outline of a horse, and it’s surprisingly intense; an unusual crossover between classic Chinese mythology and… rearing horses, we feel!

Floating Dragon Wild Horses Gameplay & Bonus Features

Floating Dragon Wild Horses runs on a 5-reel, 3-row grid with 10 fixed paylines. Wins are paid left to right. You can bet between €0.10 and €250 per spin. The game operates with an RTP of 96.5%. In keeping with most Reel Kingdom releases, however, Floating Dragon Wild Horses is also available in lower RTP configurations.

The base game is relatively straightforward, and there’s nothing really exciting here. There are no Wild symbols, and the highest line-based win you can hit is 200x, for a five-of-a-kind combo of the top payer.

You will see the familiar Money symbols on the reels, represented by coins, and these range between 2x and 5,000x. These values can only be gained during the Free Spins. To do so, you need to land a Wild. To trigger the Free Spins, you’ll need to land 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view, and doing so awards 15, 20, or 25 free spins, respectively.

During the Free Spins, Wild symbols collect the values of all visible money symbols. Wilds themselves are also collected into colour-coded meters, and every time you collect four Wilds of the same colour, you’ll receive an additional +10 spins and a multiplier increase. The first level of the bonus round begins at 1x, with the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th stages awarding a 2x, 3x, and 10x multiplier, respectively.

Bonus Buy & Ante Bet

Floating Dragon Wild Horses includes a couple of Bonus Buy/Ante Bet options, if you live in a country where they’re available. Playing with the Ante Bet option switched on increases your base game stake by 50% and offers a higher chance of landing the Free Spins.

There are two Bonus Buy options: you can buy the standard Free Spins for 100x or pay 300x to trigger the Super Free Spins, where you only need to collect four Wild symbols, of any colour, to progress.

Pros

  • Win up to 5,000x.
  • Default RTP of 96.5% is well above-average.
  • Unique theme and design; graphics are well-executed.

Cons

  • Mechanics feel VERY heavily recycled from all the other Floating Dragon/Big Bass titles.
  • Wilds can only land during the free spins.
  • Bonus Buy/Ante Bet options are unavailable in some markets.

Floating Dragon Wild Horses Slot Review Final Thoughts

Floating Dragon Wild Horses is a good-looking but very familiar slot, and it delivers pretty much exactly what we’ve come to expect from Reel Kingdom today. The visuals are superb, there’s no doubting that, but everything else, unfortunately, is very much the same as most previous Floating Dragon releases.

The base game is also incredibly uneventful. Unlike in some of the Big Bass-style games, you can’t collect any of the Money symbols outside of the bonus round, and the lack of Wilds makes for pretty boring gameplay.

Still, triggering the main Free Spins Bonus can unlock decent win potential, although you’ll need to land enough Wilds, of the right colours, to get those well-needed re-triggers.

So overall, it’s a very 50/50 game in our opinion. The design team deserves credit, but the people responsible for the core mechanics/mathematics? We think it’s just a bit of a lazy re-skin, which we’ve become all-too-used to seeing recently. Still, it’s not the worst in the world, and if you like this type of game, Floating Dragon Wild Horses will probably appeal to you!
