Slot Overview
Fishin’ Frenzy: The Big Catch Gold Spins is a fishing-themed video slot from Blueprint Gaming that expands on the (very familiar) Fishin’ Frenzy formula. There are a couple of new additions here, including Gold Spins, Power Play, and Catch of the Day, but with a maximum win potential of just 2,500x, is this a game anyone will actually play? Find out in this Demoslot review.
Theme & Design
Fishin’ Frenzy is one of the most iconic franchises in the world of online slots; it’s up there with Big Bass Bonanza and Book of Dead-inspired games, and it was actually Fishin’ Frenzy that started the whole fish-collection-mechanic genre that’s found at virtually every online casino today.
A number of spinoffs have already been created, including titles like Fishin’ Frenzy Even Bigger Fish 3,and Fishin’ Frenzy Bubble Bonanza, but now, Blueprint Gaming decided it was the time for a brand new addition to the franchise: Fishin’ Frenzy: The Big Catch Gold Spins.
Visually, the game looks pretty much identical to all instalments before it; a plain blue underwater background and very little else. Yes, it’s a design that worked 10 years ago, but in 2026? We can’t help but feel it’s been “done” too many times.

Fishin Frenzy The Big Catch Gold Spins Gameplay & Bonus Features
Fishin’ Frenzy: The Big Catch Gold Spins uses a five-reel, three-row layout with 10 fixed paylines, paying from left to right. The betting range spans from €0.10 to €100 per spin, and the RTP is a little below average at 95%.
The game is virtually identical to previous Fishin’ Frenzy releases, although there are a few new additions. Catch of the Day is a base game mechanic; each time you land a fish symbol, they’re added to the net above the reels. At random, the net can trigger one of several modifiers, including instant cash collection, cash streaks, extra fish symbols, or direct entry into the free spins.
The main bonus is, of course, the Free Spins bonus, triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view. Doing so awards 10, 15, or 20 free games, respectively. During the feature, the fisherman symbol becomes active, collecting all visible fish cash values when it lands. Each fisherman also advances the Big Catch trail, upgrading fish values and potentially awarding extra free games.
The main USP of the game is the Gold Spins bonus, a mode that can be unlocked during the free games by landing the Gold Spins Scatter alongside a fisherman symbol. These spins play out at the end of the Free Games round and guarantee that a fisherman and fish symbol land on every spin.
Power Play
If available in your region, Power Play is an optional game mode that increases your base game stake by 5x, but, in return, removes all symbols from the reels bar the Scatters, Fishermen, and Cash Fish.
Pros
- Familiar gameplay (if Fishin’ Frenzy is what you’re into).
- Multiple bonus rounds.
- Power Play option is available for faster entry into bonuses.
Cons
- Very low maximum win potential of 2,500x.
- RTP is quite low for today’s standards.
- Very, very, very similar to every other Fishin’ Frenzy release
Fishin Frenzy The Big Catch Gold Spins Slot Review Final thoughts
Fishin’ Frenzy: The Big Catch Gold Spins is yet another instalment in the “Fishin’ Frenzy” lineup of games, and while we understand why Blueprint Gaming/Reel Time Gaming continues to develop them, we can’t help but feel releases like this actually do the franchise more harm than good.
In our opinion, the whole point of releasing sequels is that they are, generally, BETTER than previous releases. Why, then, would Blueprint Gaming choose to cap the maximum win potential of Fishin’ Frenzy: The Big Catch Gold Spins at just 2,500x? For us, it doesn’t make any sense, especially when they’ve clearly tried to innovate with the Gold Spins mechanic.
Yes, there is a very small sub-section of players who will religiously play every new Fishin’ Frenzy release, but for us, Fishin’ Frenzy: The Big Catch Gold Spins is a disappointment and simply doesn’t offer enough reasons for us to load it up and play for real money!
