This is a Camelot-themed slot that is heavily based on the legend of the Sword in the Stone. We’ve seen plenty of previous games, such as Clash of Camelot and Knights of Avalon, that made use of the legends of Camelot, but this is almost certainly the first machine to focus on the sword in the stone. The visuals and overall presentation are top-notch – I realise this is a subjective thing, but the graphics and animations used in Excalibur Unleashed really appeal to me personally.

Likewise, the Crown will get you 10x your bet for a complete payline, which is the same return as the Crystal Ball and Potion bottle. As for the low pays, the higher royals of the Ace, King, and Queen are worth 5x the bet or five of a kind, whilst Jack and Ten are only worth 4x the total bet.

The playfield used in Excalibur Unleashed features an unusual layout with three symbols on each column, whilst reels two, three, and four feature five rows each. With just 20 fixed paylines available, this strange layout can make it quite difficult to hit anything at times – at least in my experience! All symbols require at least three matches on adjacent reels starting from the left to award a win, and you can win several times from a single spin.

Expanding Wilds

Whenever a wild symbol lands on the reels, it will expand vertically and randomly obtain a multiplier between 2x and 20x. Should more than one of these symbols make up your winning combination, the multiplier values will be added together before being applied to your win.

The main free spins feature is triggered by hitting two wild symbols on reels one and five. Should you achieve this, the wilds will expand to fill their entire reel and be awarded a random multiplier from this list: 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x, 12x, 15x, or 28x.
