Slot Overview

Eternal Nile is the second release from a new Hacksaw Gaming partner called Ace Roll. The game takes you deep into Ancient Egypt and uses an innovative EchoSpins mechanic, stacked multipliers, and two different free spins modes. With a maximum win potential of 10,000x and an above-average RTP of 96.18%, it looks like a solid second release from the studio. But how did it stack up during testing? Let’s get the full review.

Theme & Design

Eternal Nile leans hard into classic Ancient Egypt iconography, and you’ll see golden desert colours and reels that look as though they’re set within an ancient temple. On the left-hand side of the reels you’ll see an Egyptian god, and we think it’s clearly designed to look and feel as though you’re deep within an Egyptian pyramid!

Of course, Egyptian-inspired video slots are nothing new. Whether it’s old-school classics like Book of Dead or even newer concepts like Book of Giza, this is, arguably, the most “used” theme in the online gambling world, even more popular, we feel, than the Irish/Leprechaun one.

Still, Ace Roll has done a nice job with the overall presentation, and Eternal Nile looks good. Yes, it’s not the most ambitiously designed game we’ve ever seen, but it does its job.

Eternal Nile Gameplay & Bonus Features

Eternal Nile runs on a 5-reel, 4-row layout with 20 fixed paylines. Wins are formed by matching a three-of-a-kind or better combo from left to right. Stakes range from €0.10 to €100 per spin, and the RTP is 96.18%, which is slightly above the current industry average.

Now, the game’s signature mechanic is EchoSpins, triggered by the Eye of Horus. When it activates, the game can replay the same spin up to eight times, keeping the same symbol layout while multipliers increase to improve any winning lines that are already present. The multipliers can either additive (2x to 10x) or multiplicative (x2 or x3), and it’s the latter ones that offer the best win potential.

The EchoSpins mechanic keeps the base game interesting, but Eternal Nile also has a main Free Spins bonus. Actually, it has two of them. Landing three Scatters awards 10 free spins in Echo Passage. Here, you’ll see more Eye of Horus symbols on the reels, which leads to more frequent EchoSpins.

If you land four Scatter symbols, you’ll trigger Temporal Duat, which awards you 10 spins also. In this round, the mechanics from the base game remain, but multipliers can now build and “unleash” before replays.

Bonus Buy & FeatureSpins

Eternal Nile includes a FeatureSpins mechanic that doubles your base game stake but makes it 3x more likely that you’ll land one of the Free Spins bonuses naturally. You can also buy directly into both bonuses for 100x and 200x, respectively.

Pros

  • Win up to 10,500x.
  • Two different free spins bonuses.
  • Unique and engaging EchoSpins mechanic.

Cons

  • The game is very volatile.
  • Most of the bonus-found win potential comes from the Temporal Duat bonus.
  • Bonus Buy/FeatureSpins are unavailable in some regions.

Eternal Nile Slot Review Final Thoughts

Eternal Nile is a risky, but understandable second release from Ace Roll. With literally hundreds of Egyptian-themed slots already flooding the online gambling market, it’s easy to see why the new studio felt they needed to get something of their own out there - but we’re really impressed that they didn’t simply follow the “Book of” mechanic.

In other words, Eternal Nile does something many Egypt slots don’t: it creates excitement through mechanics that aren’t usually associated with Egyptian-themed slots. We really like the EchoSpins mechanic, and while it’s not entirely new (Hacksaw Gaming used something similar, for example, in iTERO), Ace Roll has put its own spin on the feature, and it works really well.

Of course, the game is highly volatile, but that’s to be expected from a slot that offers a maximum win potential of 10,000x. So, if you’re comfortable with big swings, if you enjoy the Ancient Egyptian theme but want something different, or if you’re just curious at what a new game studio is capable of, Eternal Nile is definitely a game worth checking out.
