Game Overview
Game provider Playtech is taking us back to Egypt in its latest slot release, but don’t worry—we’re not about to undergo yet another adventure through tombs looking for sacred books or artefacts. Instead, as the title suggests, Elephant Riches is themed on Elephants, specifically how they’re seen in Egyptian culture. While the Western world sees them as large animals that are said to have a good memory, in Egypt, they symbolise strength and power and are often associated with the Pharoah God Hapi. Now that the theme is out of the way let’s look at the core specs of Elephant Riches. It’s essentially a 6×4 slot with 4,096 ways to win and a 95.64% RTP.
My first impressions of this Playtech slot demo were not great, simply because nothing really happens during the base game. However, a quick look in the paytable told me there are a couple of bonus games to trigger, one of which looks particularly interesting. The first is a free spins bonus with a progressive win multiplier, and the other is a unique game that tasks you with pushing cash symbols up a multiplier ladder, hopefully landing one of four fixed jackpots of up to 250x the stake.
Playtech is one of the biggest names in the iGaming industry, so when the developer releases a new slot, you sit up and take notice. The good news is you’ll not have to look for somewhere to play it, at least not straight away, as we have the Elephant Riches demo slot below for you to try for free.
Elephant Riches Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
As I mentioned in the introduction, this isn’t your typical Ancient Egyptian slot. You’re not going to have to follow an intrepid explorer as he rummages through tombs and pyramids to uncover lost treasures. If that’s the sort of slot theme you prefer, you probably know you’ll not have to look far on our demo games online platform to find it. However, if you need a couple of suggestions to get you started, then the provider, Play’n Go, is an expert in this niche, and I’d fire up our Legacy of Dead demo and Legacy of Egypt demo games to see what they have to offer.
The next port of call in our slot review is to open up the Elephant Riches paytable to see what you can aim for when spinning the reels. The Elephant, as you’d expect, is the most valuable regular symbol, as it will pay 7.5x the stake full a full combo of six. The Urns and Hammers are the second best, with returns of 6.25x, whilst the Fan and Scroll both pay up to 5x. As for the lower pays, these come in the form of the royals, with the Ace and King sharing a max return of 3.5x, the Queen and Jack offering up to 3x, and the Ten and Nine with payouts 2.5x for a line of six. The Wild symbol can appear on all reels and will help create winning combinations by substituting for regular symbols.
Playtech slots typically present real-money players with a wide choice of betting options, and this is again the case with Elephant Riches. Bets can be placed from a minimum of €0.20 a spin, progressing steadily in value before reaching a maximum of €230.
Elephant Riches Slot Base Game
Playtech’s Elephant Riches is a 6-reel, 4-row, and 4,096 ways to win reel matrix used on the Elephant Riches slot that delivers wins whenever you match two or three (depending on the symbol), matching symbols on reels from left to right. There isn’t much going on in the base game, but as you’ll find out, a couple of exciting bonus games make up for that.
Double Chance Bet
You can activate the Double Chance feature for 1.5x your stake, which doubles your chances of triggering the bonus games.
Elephant Riches Slot Bonus Features
Two bonus features can be triggered on Elephant Riches. These are a free spins bonus and a golden pyramid spin bonus. Let’s take a look at these in more detail.
Free Spins Feature
Whenever three or more Free Games scatter symbols land anywhere in view, the free spins bonus game kicks into action. You’ll receive 8 free spins with a starting multiplier of 2x. A collection meter above the reels collects multiplier symbols, and when you reach certain milestones, you’ll receive an additional 8 spins and unlock the next multiplier level. The global multiplier applies to the total win on each spin.
- Starting Level: 2x
- Level 2: Requires 3 multiplier symbols to unlock a 3x multiplier
- Level 3: Requires 4 multiplier symbols to unlock a 5x multiplier
- Level 4: Requires 5 multiplier symbols to unlock a 10x multiplier
Golden Pyramid Spins
If you land a combination of at least five money and scarab scatters on the reels simultaneously, you’ll trigger the Golden Pyramid Spins bonus game. You’re transported to a new set of six reels, with the triggering symbols carried over and sat on the second bottom reel. To the right, is a stack of 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 15x, 25x, and 100x, multipliers.
You’ll receive 7 spins of a bottom reel that can reveal the following symbols:
- Money Symbols: Additional money symbols with values of 0.5x, 0.75x, 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, 3.75x, or 5x.
- Scarab Symbols: At the end of the round, these will award one of the Mini (10x), Minor (25x), Major (100x), or Mega (250x) fixed jackpots.
- Pyramid: Pushes the Cash or Scarab symbol above it up a reel.
- Boost: This can only land on the reel underneath the multipliers. It will remove the lowest multiplier, causing the remaining values to drop one position. Essentially, this means the lowest multiplier value is now one better.
- +1: This also lands on the multiplier reel and will give you an additional spin.
At the end of the feature, you’re paid the value of all the symbols, with the current multiplier of their current level applied.
Pros
- Two bonus rounds to aim for.
- Big and Bold graphics and colours.
Cons
- A slightly low RTP.
- The base game is dull.
Elephant Riches Slot Review Final Thoughts
I always appreciate slots offering more than just a single bonus game, so Elephant Riches earned some extra points immediately. However, the base game is a bit of a slog, at least in my opinion, as I had to play 120+ spins before triggering the free spins bonus. It took a further 75 before I could see what the Golden Pyramid Spins were all about, so be prepared for some potentially long game time to activate the features if you do decide to give this one a try.
