Slot Overview

Dragon Tiger Fortunes is a feature-packed video slot from Pragmatic Play, and this Asian-inspired slot uses a marked positions mechanic, a Wheel Bonus, Bonus Buy options, and a maximum win potential of up to 8,200x. With many bonuses and features, the game promises plenty of action, but is it really good? Or is it just another busy Pragmatic Play release? Let’s find this full review.

Theme & Design

Dragon Tiger Fortunes leans heavily into classic East Asian mythology, and you’ll see dragons, tigers, lotus flowers, jade coins, and gold-trimmed reels, all set against a deep red and gold backdrop. The presentation is pretty good, and there’s a well-rendered tiger on the right-hand side of the reels, who moves slightly as you play!

Now, there’s quite a lot going on, and directly above the reels you’ll notice the main Prize Wheel. Below this, are the game’s two larger jackpots, and on the left and right-hand side of the reels you’ll see the smaller jackpots, alongside the Bonus Buy options.

It’s VERY similar to Huff N’ More Puff, by Light & Wonder, but it also gives off a slight Panda Dragon Boat vibe, we feel.

Dragon Tiger Fortune Gameplay & Bonus Features

Dragon Tiger Fortunes runs on a five-reel, three-row layout with 25 fixed paylines, with wins paid from left to right. You can bet between €0.20 and €240 per spin, and the game boasts an above-average RTP of 96.54%.

There’s a lot of bonus action in the game, and the Free Spins are triggered by landing 6+ Scatter symbols anywhere in view. You then receive 6 spins, and this is where the marked positions mechanic comes into play. All Scatters that trigger the bonus see their position “marked”, and initially, marked positions are Bronze. Landing additional Scatters inside the bonus again marks positions, and if they land on a position that’s already marked, they get upgraded to Silver, and then Gold. At the end of the bonus, each marked position reveals a cash prize, the value of which is based on whether it’s Bronze, Silver, or Gold.

The second feature is the Wheel Bonus, triggered by landing Wheel symbols in the base game. Once triggered, the Prize Wheel spins, and this can award various prizes, including entry into the Free Spins Bonus, Enhanced Free Spins (where the grid expands to 5×6), one of the game’s 4 Jackpots, or entry to the Super Wheel, where all prizes are enhanced.

Dragon Tiger Fortunes contains two Bonus Buy options, if you live in a country where feature buys are allowed. The Free Spins Bonus can be purchased instantly for 50x your base game stake, while the Prize Wheel Bonus can be purchased for 100x.

Pros

  • Win up to 8,200x.
  • Above-average RTP of 96.54%.
  • Multiple bonuses and features, including Super Features.

Cons

  • Wins are almost all found inside bonuses; base game wins are tiny.
  • VERY similar to Huff N’ Puff-style games.
  • Bonus Buy options unavailable for players in some markets.

Dragn Tiger Slot Review Final Thoughts

Dragon Tiger Fortunes is a decent-looking, feature-packed slot that is very similar to some of Light & Wonder’s games found in Vegas land-based casinos. It’s also not the first time Pragmatic Play has experimented with the game type, so it’s clearly performing well in the online market, too.

While the base game alone is unlikely to deliver pretty much any notable wins, it serves its purpose; you can view it mainly as the gateway to the Free Spins and Prize Wheel Bonus rounds, and these are where the game’s real potential lies.

Of course, with only 6 Free Spins, you’re banking on getting the reel positions marked early, and then upgrading the positions to Silver and Gold, but if you manage to do so, or if you land extra Scatters and re-trigger the feature a few times, it is possible to get a significant portion of the reels upgraded to Silver/Gold, and this is where the real win potential lies.

So, sure; Dragon Tiger Fortunes isn’t the most innovative game in the world, but it does offer slightly higher win potential than its predecessors like Huff ‘n Puff, and the change of theme will appeal to players wanting an Asian twist on their gambling experience, so fairly positive thoughts from us, overall!

  1. I tried this slot, it seems to be the same as other slots, it’s okay but I wouldn’t say I like it. I rate it 6/10.
