Slot Overview

Diamond Mole is a new cluster-pays slot from Backseat Gaming, and pretty much the entirety of the game revolves around single, explosive sticky Diamond Wilds. The game’s played on a 6×6 grid, offers two free spins modes, and boasts a maximum win potential of up to 25,000x, so is this a game worth playing? Read on for the full Demoslot review!

Theme & Design

Diamond Mole takes a light-hearted approach to its underground “moleing” theme, and you’ll see the reels packed in the clearing of a forest, with dirt, grass, trees, and rocks behind the reels.

The mole itself is portrayed as more cute than scary, and you’ll see him/her on the reels as the game’s highest-paying regular symbol, as you’d expect. Now, interestingly, the game’s design doesn’t actually change at all during the bonus round, so this backdrop is the setting you’ll see at all times!

For us, Diamond Mole is clearly a game that’s been designed around volatile gameplay, where the bonuses and features take centre stage rather than storytelling or deep gameplay. This is something we’ve seen in other games like Amazing Micketeers and Banana Farm.

Diamond Mole Gameplay & Bonus Features

Diamond Mole uses a 6-reel, 6-row grid with a Cluster Pays mechanic, and this means wins are formed by landing clusters of 5+ symbols in view. You can bet between €0.10 to €40 per spin. The top RTP configuration is 96.31%. Although, as with most Backseat Gaming slots, lower RTP settings are available.

Pretty much all of the gameplay revolves around Diamond Wilds, and these Wilds substitute for all regular symbols, remain sticky on the grid, and start with a multiplier of 1x. They then double each time they form part of a win, and they can reach up to 2,048x! Up to 5 Diamond Wilds can appear at once, and when multiple Wilds form part of the same winning cluster, the multipliers are added together. In the base game, after a spin is complete, the Diamond Wilds disappear from the screen, and their multipliers reset.

Landing 3 Scatter symbols triggers the Diamond Trail Free Spins bonus, and this awards you with 10 free games. During the bonus round, the same mechanics as the base game are used, but you’re guaranteed to land three Diamond Wilds on the first spin, all of which remain sticky for the entirety of the feature.

Landing 4 Scatter symbols triggers the Pursuit of Diamonds Free Spins bonus. Again, you receive 10 free games, but here, you start with four Diamond Wilds, all of which begin with a 2x multiplier.

Bonus Buy & FeatureSpins

Diamond Mole contains a few different Bonus Buy/FeatureSpins options, including:

  • BonusHunt FeatureSpins: Costs 2x your base game stake but makes it 3x more likely that you’ll land the bonus round.
  • Diamond Trail Free Spins: Costs 150x your stake.
  • Pursuit of Diamonds Free Spins: Costs 500x your stake.

Pros

  • Win up to 25,000x your bet.
  • Sticky multipliers during the base game and bonus.
  • Clear, easy to understand gameplay loop.

Cons

  • Theme and graphics lack variety.
  • The game is incredibly volatile.
  • Limited features beyond Wild Multipliers/Free Spins.

Diamond Mole Slot Review Final Thoughts

Diamond Mole is a slot that knows exactly what it wants to be and makes no attempt to hide it! The gameplay revolves almost entirely around landing Diamond Wilds, and while, of course, the concept of doubling multipliers isn’t new, it’s still good to see, and Backseat Gaming has designed the mechanic in a way that means big wins can land in the base game, too.

Volatility is clearly on the high end, and while the base game is capable of big wins, it’s also very capable of destroying your balance if you don’t manage to hit any bonuses and features! As a result, you’re pretty much playing to land a bonus or, if you’re very lucky, hit one lucky base game spin.

We like the fact that there are two Bonus Buy options available, although both are expensive; 150x and 500x. Still, that’s to be expected for a game that boasts a maximum win potential of 25,000x, and that alone will probably make this a successful release for the provider!
