Game Overview
No other slot developer can match Nolimit City in terms of players’ anticipation when a new slot release is revealed. You can’t blame these players either because, simply put, most releases from this provider end up as bangers, and that’s what I’m expecting again with the release of Deadwood RIP – another epic Wild Wild West title with extremely high variance, a feature-list as long as a menu at a Chinese restaurant, and huge winning potential. I won’t waste any more time on the intro, as we have a lot to get through, and I know you’re waiting to find out what to expect from this 5 reel slot featuring 384 ways to win, a 96.09% RTP, and a mammoth 100,000x the stake maximum win.
If I were to sum up Deadwood RIP, I’d say it’s the love child of the original Deadwood and Tombstone RIP. It features the best of both of those slots, and that means xSplit Wilds, xNudges, the Shootout and Quick Draw bonuses, two free spins bonus games, a raft of highly volatile xBet and plenty of Buy Bonus features to wave your six-shooter at, too.
I’ll get into all those features and modifiers in the full review below, but if you’re not the patient type, you can just check them all yourself via the free-to-play Deadwood RIP slot demo below.
Deadwood R.I.P Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Deadwood RIP is the latest in a series of Wild West-themed slots from Nolimit City, with some being connected and containing the same characters. That means you’ll have the chance to reacquaint yourselves with the notorious gunslingers El Gordo, Edda Star, and Skinny Joe once again in Deadwood RIP. I mentioned both Deadwood and Tombstone RIP as part of this slot series in the intro, but other releases from NLC that will have you kicking down the saloon doors for a whiskey chaser are Bounty Hunters, Tombstone, True Grit Redemption, Tombstone No Mercy, and El Paso Gunfight. If you’re not walking like John Wayne after working your way through all of those slot recommendations, I’ll be sending Clint Eastwood directly to your house for a quiet word.
Onto the pays section and let’s begin with the premium symbols on the reels of Deadwood RIP. El Gordo tops the wanted list as he is worth 3.5x the stake for a five-symbol combination, with Edda Star next in line with a 3x top payout. Skinny Joe follows, where his mugshot could net you up to 2.5x, with the First Busted Character topping out at 2x for five in a row, while the second is worth a maximum of 1.5x. The ever-present royal cards make up the lower-paying symbols, with the Ace and King returning 1.2x, whilst the Queen, Jack, and Ten all share a max return of 1x for a five-of-a-kind win.
Finally, we come to the betting selection on Deadwood RIP, where the minimum standard cost to spin the reels starts at €0.20, with the maximum standard price to play reaching €100.
Deadwood R.I.P Slot Base Game & Modifiers
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from reviewing Nolimit City slots, it is never to predict what you’re going to get, as you’ll usually be proven wrong. That goes for the reel configurations they use, as well as anything else. On Deadwood RIP, there are five reels, but they’re set in an unorthodox 3-4-4-4-2 configuration.
While there are 384 ways to win as standard, this can increase significantly due to features such as xSplit Wilds. Standard symbol wins will come your way whenever three or matching symbols appear on adjacent reels starting from the first reel.
Xnudge And Xsplit Wild Symbols, And Hog Me Tight Scatters
Only appearing on the three middle reels, xNudge Wild symbols will always nudge fully onto the reels if they land partially. Each nudge that occurs increases a win multiplier by 1x, and if more than one lands during a base game spin, those multipliers are added together. If that happens during one of the bonus games, those values are multiplied by each other instead. The xNudge symbol is also wild, so like the other symbols in this section, it will substitute for all regular symbols.
The xSplit wilds appear as part of the Reel Split Wild feature, which triggers when two Diamond Back scatter symbols land. When it appears, the wild splits itself and all other symbols on the reels into two.
Hog Me Tight scatter symbols only land on the fifth reel, and when they do, they appear to be double the size. When it lands, it splits symbols on the middle rows of the reels directly to the left and splits the middle one and middle two symbols on reels one and two, respectively.
Quick Draw
The Quick Draw feature triggers each time a Revolver symbol appears on the first reel. The Revolver will shoot three to six bullets at random symbols on the reels, doubling their symbol multiplier.
Shootout
Whenever two Sheriff badge symbols appear on the second and fourth reels, the Shootout feature triggers. It transforms all low-value symbols on the middle reels into wilds.
Xrip
Although dressed up as a feature, xRIP is anything but. As on Tombstone RIP, it just means you’re not credited with any payouts worth less than your bet.
Deadwood R.I.P Slot Bonus Features
There are two fantastic free spins bonuses on Deadwood RIP, but one outshines the other in terms of winning potential. You’ll trigger the Redemption Spins bonus when three Diamond Back scatter symbols appear anywhere in view. If those symbols land on the same spin as the Hog Me Tight scatter on the fifth reel, you trigger the Redemption Spins bonus game instead.
Redemption Free Spins
You’ll receive 5 free spins, and during this feature, xNudge Wilds will increase a global multiplier by between 1x and 4x each time they land. That multiplier is progressive during the bonus, so it will not reset between spins. If the Hog Me Tight scatter appears on the fifth reel, the bonus is upgraded to the Salvation Spins bonus, and you’re given an additional spin.
Salvation Free Spins
This bonus has all the above features of the Redemption Spins bonus, but now a Hog Me Tight Scatter will always appear on the fifth reel. Both bonus games can be re-triggered from within.
Xbet & Bonus Buy Features
I know you weren’t expecting any different from NoLimit City, but there’s a bunch of xBet and buy bonus features for you to consider:
- xBet 1: For 1.5x your current spin bet, you can spin the reels with the guarantee that a scatter symbol lands on the second reel, giving you more than double the chance to trigger one of the free spins bonuses.
- xBet 2: Instead, you could opt to pay 15x your stake to guarantee scatter symbols on each of reels two and three. This means you’re ten times more likely to trigger one of the free spins bonus games.
- Redemption Spins: You can buy this free spins bonus outright for 80x your current stake.
- Salvation Spins: Purchasing this bonus game costs 1,500x your current stake.
- 80-20 Lucky Draw: For 364x your stake, you’ll have a 1 in 4 chance of triggering the Salvation Spins, and if not, you’ll get Redemption Spins.
- 50-50 Lucky Draw: For 790x, you can take a 50-50 chance of winning the Salvations spins.
Pros
- Another fantastic array of bonuses, features, modifiers, and buy bonus options.
- Massive max win of 100,000x bet.
Cons
- That dreaded xRIP feature is back to steal your low-value wins.
Deadwood R.I.P Slot Review Final Thoughts
Many western-style online slots in iGaming follow the same vanilla theme, but we know that will never be the case when it's a release from Nolimit City. The studio has again made sure its Deadwood R.I.P slot packs a powerful punch, combining the best elements from many of its other titles, especially those in Deadwood and Tombstone RIP. The extreme volatility attached to the game and the monster jackpot of 100,000x bet will have many slot bandits riding into town hoping to bust the bank open on one of the best online games to hit the Western genre in a long time.
