Game Overview
Rightly so, the Aussie-based provider Big Time Gaming is primarily known for developing one of the most popular reel mechanics ever created in the form of Megaways. However, while that mechanic is what propelled BTG into the big time (pun intended), the developer has also created plenty of others that have, let’s say, not yet lived up to the success of previous endeavours. Among those is the Megaclusters mechanic that, to date, has featured on seven of the developer’s slots and is the core mechanic of Cyberslot Megaclusters, a game that’s the focus of my review today. As standard, it is a 3×3 slot with cluster pays, a 96.36% RTP, and a hefty maximum win of 23,960x the stake.
I’ll discuss how the Megaclusters mechanic works in more detail later in this review, but it essentially turns winning symbols into more symbols within, enhancing the chances of creating clusters. Alongside that is a Roaming Wild with a multiplier that increases with every winning cascade when it’s coloured gold. Once the free spins bonus triggers, played on a 9×9 grid, Roaming Wild’s multiplier is progressive and remains between spins. Once the multiplier reaches 10x, another Roaming Wild with a progressive multiplier is added to the reels.
If you’re yet to experience the Megaclusters mechanic, why not check out the Cyberslot Megaclusters slot demo to see what it’s all about?
Cyberslot Megaclusters Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Those of you who do enjoy the Megaclusters engine and are looking for other slots from providers that feature it, I’m here to help. Including Cyberslot, there are seven in total (at the time of writing), and if I had to pick out the two which I believe are the best of them, I’d have to go with Millionaire Rush, which has a stonking 55,060x the stake maximum win, and Kluster Krystals, a slot I really enjoy playing due to the mini features that can trigger after a long chain reaction of wins.
Next, it’s time to analyse the symbol payouts that Cyberslot Megaclusters can throw our way. The large Blue, Red, and Purple Gems share a top 25x the stake return for clusters of 25 or more, while the Green pays slightly less with a maximum of 20x available. The Small Orange Gem shares that return, while the Small Yellow and Turquoise gems pay up to 10x.
Those of you who would like to upgrade from our Cyberslot demo to play the game for real money can get into the action from as little as €0.20 up to a maximum of €20.00 a spin. This is a betting range that is sure to please those with smaller budgets, but those who like to up the stakes when they are playing the slots may find the max limit here a bit too low.
Base Game & Modifiers
Cyberslot Megaclusters has a 3×3 reel configuration and uses the cluster pays mechanic to calculate wins. Clusters and their resulting payouts are formed when 5 or more matching symbols are connected horizontally or vertically on the reels.
Megaclusters & Reactions
On this particular slot, the Megaclusters mechanic works in the base game by adding a single symbol containing 9 smaller symbols within it onto the reels on each spin. When winning combinations are created, all symbols involved also transform into 9-position symbols. If those symbols create another winning combination, regular symbols above them also transform into Megaclusters. That process continues until no new winning combinations are formed.
Wild Symbols
A Roaming Wild is present on the reels and moves to a new position on each new spin or after a winning cascade. If A Roaming Wild is involved in a winning combination, and is coloured gold, it will see its multiplier value, which starts at 1x, increase by x1.
Cyberslot Megaclusters Slot Free Spins Feature
A free spins bonus is triggered on Cyberslot Megaclusters when there are 12 or more consecutive reactions/cascades on a base game spin. This does sound like a high number, but when the grid is fully unlocked, it is much easier to achieve than you probably think.
Free Spins Feature
Once triggered, you receive 6 free spins, with the current Roaming Wild and its multiplier value carrying over to a 9×9 gaming grid. During this feature, Megaclusters have 4 symbols within them rather than 9. The multiplier of the Roaming Wild is now progressive during the bonus and will not reset between spins.
Each time that multiplier reaches a multiple of 10, you receive an additional 10 free spins. The first time that happens, a Rainbow Roaming Wild is added to the reels, which also has a multiplier value that starts at 1x and increases the same way as the regular roaming wild.
Pros
- A Simple looking slot on the face of it - but the innovative Megaclusters mechanic quickly shows you it isn’t.
- The high max win, although unlikely achievable.
Cons
- It can be difficult to follow on smaller mobile devices.
- Lots of low paying features.
Cyberslot Megaclusters Slot Review Final Thoughts
While the Megaclusters mechanic has not enjoyed the same level of success as Megaways, it still shows that Big Time Gaming is the sort of slot developer that would rather innovate than imitate. Not every mechanic will become the next big thing, as with this one, but at least they’re trying. Personally, I quite like the mechanic, and you might too, so why not give Cyberslot Megaclusters a test run to see if it ticks a box for you? If you enjoy it, make sure you try out the debut game in the collection titled Starclusters Megaclusters.
