Gameplay & Features

Crypto Crown 40 is played on a five-reel, four-row layout, and there are no paylines, as the slot uses a ways-to-win format. Wins are formed by landing 3+ symbols on adjacent reels from left to right. You can bet between €0.10 and €300 per spin, and the RTP is bang-on average; 96%.

Now, the first feature to be aware of is Moving Wilds Respins. When you play, Wild symbols can land with a life counter, showing how many moves they will make before disappearing. Each move triggers a free Respin, and this allows wins to chain together, so to speak. 

Landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 Bonus symbols awards 7, 9, 12, or 15 free spins respectively. During the feature, each newly-landed Bonus symbol adds +1 extra spin. During the feature, Wilds can be randomly collected in the Wilds Collector. These collected Wilds are saved for later – the Whale Spin – and it’s possible to collect up to 20 Wilds in total.

Now, if the free games counter reaches zero while Wilds, with remaining lives, remain on the board, then the HODL feature is triggered. You then receive a set number of extra free games (corresponding to the highest remaining life counter on any Wild), and this allows the bonus to extend/re-start, multiple times.

Once no free spins or HODL spins remain, the Whale Spin begins. All collected Wilds are thrown onto the reels at the same time;. If Wilds overlap, they receive a Multiplier of 2x. This mechanic means it’s very much a “final spin is everything” type of bonus.

Theme & Design

We’ve seen an unfortunate increase in the number of crypto bro-inspired games recently; AvatarUX didn’t hold back before with their creatively titled Crypto Bro, but other studios have also been keen to cash in on the growing trends; PG Soft’s Crypto Gold is another example.

Now, historically, these sorts of games have felt a little… cringey. We still don’t love the theme, but we do feel that AvatarUX has done a better job here than they did before, and perhaps that’s because they’ve combined the crypto theme with some classic fruit machine symbols; you’ll see neon-outlined lemons, cherries, and watermelons, for example, sitting alongside the glowing crypto coins.

It looks OK, but it’s very smooth-playing, and the game’s animations are fluid, too. It’s also fully mobile optimised, but we’re not even really sure why we’re still mentioning that in 2026; it can basically be said for every video slot released these days!
