Game Overview
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is Nolimit City in pure, unfiltered form: chaotic, darkly funny, slightly uncomfortable, and loaded with bonuses and unique mechanics. Built around stacked sticky wins, increasing multipliers and multiple bonus rounds, this humorous game offers a maximum win potential of up to 9,999x. See if it’s worth playing here in our review.
Theme & Design
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, like previous Nolimit City releases like Flight Mode and Bangkok Hilton, is on the controversial side of things; there’s no denying that! The game is clearly using a 90s aesthetic, and you’ll see walls of shifting neon colours that change depending on which mode the game’s currently in.
The audio and sound effects are also pretty fitting. You’ll hear a clash of different electronic music, metal riffs, and loud, thumping sound effects that accompany each spin!

Crazy Ex Girlfriend Gameplay & Bonus Features
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend uses a 6-reel layout with a 2-4-4-4-4-2 pattern and 1,024 ways to win. You can spin the reels for stakes ranging between €0.20 and €100 per spin, and the game’s default RTP is slightly above average at 96.09%. Lower RTP versions are available, however: 94.07% and 92.08%.
Now, in the base game, split symbols can appear to double position multipliers while, literally, carving up the grid to expand the number of ways to win. Any win triggers Rebound Spins, and this sees all winning symbols lock in place.
Any non-winning positions gain a +1 multiplier, and the re-spins continue as long as the locked win improves or new symbols land. You’ll also find a Plot Twister symbol. When this lands, it upgrades all of the locked symbols and transforms all of them, and itself, into a higher-value symbol.
There are three different free spins modes: Carpe DIEm, Super Carpe DIEm, and Mega Carpe DIEm, and these are triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view, respectively. In all three of the free spins bonuses, multipliers lock, with the main difference between the tiers being more fixed sticky wild positions on reel 2. You can also land extra scatter symbols to win extra spins during the feature.
Bonus Buy/Booster
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has four bonus boosters. The Standard Bonus Booster costs 2x and guarantees a scatter symbol on the 2nd reel. Print Spins cost 9x and guarantee a multiplier of 20x on the grid. You can also buy Printier Spins and Printiest Spins which cost 90x and 350x, guaranteeing a 250x and 1,000x multiplier.
You can also buy your way directly into the free spins bonuses. The Carpe DIEm, Super Carpe DIEm, and the Mega Carpe DIEm Spins bonuses can be purchased for 70x, 200x, or 400x, respectively, while a lucky draw can be purchased for 185x.
Pros
- Win up to 9,999x.
- Rebound Spins + increasing multipliers offers solid win potential.
- Multiple Bonus Buy/Booster options.
Cons
- The theme MAY be offensive to some.
- The base game can feel slow, especially without xSplit or Plot Twist symbols landing.
- Bonus Buy/Booster options unavailable in some markets.
Crazy Ex Girlfriend Slot Review Final Thoughts
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is an entertaining video slot; we think it’s pretty hard to deny that. It’s also pretty much exactly what we’ve come to expect from Nolimit City: bold, noisy, and slightly worrying. Still, putting the theme aside, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is a very well-designed game with some solid mechanics, too.
We like the fact that there are sticky base game respins and increasing multipliers, as this means there’s rarely a dull moment for too long. However, the wins aren’t always that great in the base, and it can get frustrating when the game keeps slowing down to play out the re-spins, only to hit almost nothing win-wise.
Still, we like the three different free spins modes, and with plenty of Bonus Buy/Booster options available, those in eligible regions can tailor the game to meet their needs, too. The maximum win potential of 9,999x isn’t the highest in the world, but it’s not bad, and we’d imagine Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will get a fairly positive response from players, even if it won’t be for everyone.
