Game Overview
Within minutes of exploring Cowboy Coins, I immediately knew that Pragmatic Play had something special on its hands! This game obviously takes a lot of inspiration from Relax’s recent Money Train 3 online slot – and who can blame them? That game is causing one hell of a stir in the online casino scene just now, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that continue for some time. Cowboy Coins uses an unusually shaped reel set with 2,304 ways to win, whilst the RTP can vary between 95.99% and 96.27% depending on the game mode used. More importantly, the top jackpot is a mammoth 30,000x the total bet – not quite up to Money Train’s standards, but hey, it’s still impressive stuff.
Pragmatic Play has done an interesting thing here by adding a couple of elements of the famous ‘money cart’ bonus round into the base game, but of course, most of the good stuff is reserved for its own fantastic bonus round! Better yet, you can opt to purchase either a regular bonus round or any of four enhanced versions using a bonus buy facility, too; just make sure that you have deep pockets, as these enhanced features certainly do not come cheap!
Fans of the Money Train slots simply can’t afford to miss this one, but don’t just take my word for it – try our demo slot of Cowboy Coins below!
Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The first Money Train slot was a huge success, despite ‘only’ having a maximum jackpot of just 20,000x the total bet. Cowboy Coins has that game beat in this regard, but Money Train 2’s 50,000x jackpot and then Money Train 3’s 100,000x top prize steal that crown right back! Whilst the bonus round offered here is very similar to that of the Money Train slots though, the reel setup is quite different, and the base game is a fair bit more generous than any of the games in the Relax series, which makes this machine a lot less harsh on your bankroll! I still wouldn’t opt to play this one with a small deposit though, especially not if you want to play at a semi-reasonable bet size. The presentation is top-notch though, I have to say, and this shouldn’t be seen as a blatant knockoff by any means.
With 2,304 ways to win, you’ll already have an idea that the paytable hits aren’t going to be anything earth-shattering. There are three high-paying outlaw character symbols; the males are worth 10x and 6x for a full payway of six of a kind, whilst the female character has a return of 4.5x for all six of her symbols. The two medium pays – a Revolver and a Royal Flush, are worth 3.75x and 3x, respectively, for a complete payway. As for the low pays, these are divided into two groups, with the Ace/King returning 2x for all six symbols and the Queen/Jack/Ten paying 1.25x for a six of a kind winning combination.
As with all of Pragmatic Play’s slots, there are no unnecessary restrictions on how much you can choose to bet per spin – the minimum wager is just €0.20 per round, and you can opt to play at a large number of multiplies of this up to the maximum limit of €100.00 per spin.
Base Game & Modifiers
The reel set-up used in Cowboy Coins will seem a tad unusual at first, but there is a good reason for this! Reels one and six have three rows, while reels two through five have four rows. All six reels feature all regular symbols, but reel one also includes Payer symbols, whilst reel six holds special Collector symbols. In addition, reels two, three, four, and five contain their own special symbols, also known as Money symbols.
Money Symbols
Money symbols can appear in gold or silver variants, but all take random values from the pre-defined set: 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, or 10x.
Payer Symbols
Payer symbols only appear on the first reel and take a value from the pre-defined multipliers listed in the money symbol section above. Whenever the payer symbol hits at the same time as one or more money symbols, the payer symbols value is added to all money symbol values before the total of all payer and money symbols are added together and paid.
Collector Symbols
Collector symbols also take a value from the pre-defined list shown above but will then collect the value of all visible money symbols before your winnings are paid. If a payer symbol lands during the same spin, the payer symbol acts first, so the collector symbol will gather up the increased values of all MONEY symbols after they have been boosted.
Cowboy Coins Slot Bonus Features
Hitting three scatter symbols anywhere on the reels will trigger the free re-spins feature. During the free re-spin round, an additional row of three symbols is added to the top and bottom of the playfield.
Respin Bonus Feature
This is a three-spin feature that uses special reels where all normal paying symbols have been removed, leaving only money, payer, and collector symbols on the reels. Every time at least one of these symbols lands, your remaining spin counter is reset to three.
Several enhanced versions of the payer and collector symbols are also available during this bonus round; Super Multi Collectors can collect the value of all money symbols up to 30 times, for example, whilst the Super Payer symbol will add its value to all other Moneysymbols at the start of every single re-spin, creating the possibility of hitting exponentially larger wins!
Bonus Buy
The cost to purchase a regular bonus round is a relatively standard 100x the normal price per spin. However, you may also purchase one of four special bonus rounds where at least one super symbol is guaranteed to land during the feature!
These enhanced bonus buy options cost a chunky 500x the normal price per spin. They may well be worth it on many occasions, but there’s no denying you take a huge risk every time you try your luck with these options!
Pros
- A real treat for Hold & Spin slot fans
- Huge max win of 30,000x.
Cons
- Some may find it too similar to the Money Train slots.
- Variable RTP models for operators to choose from.
Cowboy Coins Slot Review Final Thoughts
It was only a matter of time before Pragmatic Play had a crack at creating a full-on Money Train style game, and they’ve done it in style. The jackpot may be a little smaller than the latest Money Train games, but the bonus rounds are heaps of fun and will keep you coming back to this one for some time. Don’t miss out on Cowboy Coins; it's a good alternative to the Relax Gaming series, and I think you'll enjoy this one just as much as I did.
