Game Overview
Loading up Inspired’s Cops & Robbers: Big Money Trick or Treat online slot for the first time, I immediately spotted the “Bell Fruit” logo in the corner of the screen. Once the machine had finished loading properly, I suddenly remembered a bunch of old fruit machines that utilised very similar “Cops & Robbers” symbols to those featured in this series by Inspired. If this game is indeed part of the same series of games that I’m thinking of, it could be one of the longest-running slot franchises of all time! Nevertheless, the developer has stuck to the essentials when creating this game – ten fixed paylines, a 94.99% RTP, and a 3,125x maximum jackpot mirror the stats of the last Cops & Robbers game that I played, suggesting that this may just be a Hallowe’en facelift.
The Cops & Robbers games don’t only have one wild – there are three of them! Two of these wilds display robbers – one locked up and one on the loose with a sack of loot – whilst the third is the police wild and only appears during the Trick or Treat Bonus. There are also four further sacks of loot that act as mixed pay symbols, very much in the same style as the fish money symbols from Big Fishing Fortune. Pumpkins are used as the scatter symbol, three of which will trigger the Trick or Treat Bonus, whilst four or five will award you the bonus plus a starting multiplier. There’s also an alternate base game you can choose to play by activating the ‘Fortune Spins’ option to the left of the reels.
I feel as if this game should find universal appeal – after all, who doesn’t love a bit of Cops & Robbers? You can check out our Cops & Robbers: Big Money Trick or Treat demo slot available to play below:
Cops N Robbers Big Money Trick Or Treat Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The Cops’n’Robbers game that I remember the most clearly is titled Cops’n’Robbers Big Money, but that’s probably because it’s less than a year since I reviewed the machine! It’s a very similar slot to the one we are looking at today, but it isn’t the only Cops’n’Robbers game to feature in our review library. There’s also the Cops’n’Robbers Megaways variant. Unfortunately, it’s been far too many years now for me to remember the exact name of any of the fruit machines that I’m reasonably sure featured these same characters today, but I’d be willing to bet that if I searched the back catalogue of Bell Fruit Arcade, then I’d almost certainly stumble on one or two of them!
The most valuable symbols to feature in this game are the three wilds and the game logo, all four of which share maximum payouts of 200x the total bet for a complete payline of five of a kind. There’s a green light – presumably changed to green from the usual blue as part of the Hallowe’en theme – which pays 100x for all five symbols, plus a police car and some stacks of cash completing the high-paying symbol lineup with payouts of 50x each. There are four different “candy bag” symbols which act as mixed pays; any combination of five of these will pay you 20x the current stake, whilst the cash prizes printed on them can only be collected during the Trick or Treat bonus. That just leaves the royal symbols, all five of which share identical returns of 10x the total bet for a five-of-a-kind combination.
There’s a reasonably wide bet spread offered up in this version of Cops’n’Robbers, with minimum/maximum permitted wagers of €0.20 and €80.00 per spin, respectively. There aren’t quite enough intermediate bets towards the upper end of this range, but I doubt there will be too many players betting that high anyway.
Base Game & Modifiers
The basic gameplay of Cops n Robbers: Big Money Trick or Treat remains the same as the last game in the franchise, with a five-reel, three-row playfield spanned by 10 fixed paylines. The highest-paying symbols have a small payout for just two symbols starting from the leftmost reel, whilst all remaining symbols need a minimum of three.
Wild Symbols
The two robber symbols are wild and appear in the base game; fortune spins and the trick-or-treat bonus round. The cop symbol is another wild, but that one only appears during the trick-or-treat bonus round.
Fortune Spins
This is an alternative base game which can be played at the same bet as the regular mode but works in an entirely different way. All regular symbols are removed from the reels during Fortune Spins, except for the andy bags, bonus symbol, and the robber. The robber now acts as both a wild and a cash collector – if one or more candy bags appear simultaneously as a robber, he will collect their values for you. Each candy bag can be worth 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x or 100x the total bet during this part of the game.
Cops N Robbers Big Money Trick Or Treat Slot Bonus Features
The pumpkin symbols are present on all five reels, but only three are required to trigger the Trick or Treat Bonus. If you do manage to hit four of these bonus symbols, you’ll be awarded a 2x multiplier upon entering the bonus; a five-scatter trigger increases that multiplier even further to 3x.
Trick Or Treat Free Spins Feature
When the main bonus round begins, a new progressive trail will be added to the screen directly above the normal reel set. As you progress along the trail, you can increase the multiplier, which is applied to all candy bag wins by 2x, 3x, 4x, 6x, 8x, or 10x. Every robber symbol that lands on the main reels will move you along the trail by one position – the 2x multiplier is located six positions from the left, while further multipliers only have gaps of three positions in between them.
You can’t have it all your own way though, unfortunately! The cops are hot on your tail now, and every cop symbol that lands on the reels will allow them to move one more step closer to your position. If the police do catch up with you, you’ll be taken to an ID Parade, where you might be let go and advanced to the next available multiplier. On the other hand, you might be recognised, in which case your bonus round is over!
Pros
- Classic theme that is executed well – especially the trail part of the bonus round.
- Big multipliers are available in both the base game and free spins.
- Fortune spins mode adds a bit of variety to the game to keep you interested for longer.
Cons
- It looks like a simple Halloween update to the previous Big Money game – there’s nothing new or unique to see, as far as I could tell.
- A maximum jackpot of 3,125x seems a bit low, considering the game has the potential to award up to 1,000x for one symbol at the end of a bonus round.
Final Thoughts
This game shares quite a few features with the fishing games that I’ve tried from Inspired recently, but the theming used here is infinitely better in my eyes, and the feature set is much more diverse as well.
