Game Overview

Pineapple Play’s debut release, Coconut Chaos, is now live, and it’s been developed with Hacksaw Gaming. Taking you on a journey to a sun-soaked paradise packed with fruit, features, and a little chaos, the game offers a maximum win potential of up to 10,000x and plenty of bonuses and features!

Theme & Design

Despite their relatively young age, Hacksaw Gaming did something quite surprising when they started to act like an aggregator. Already, we’ve seen studios like Backseat Gaming (responsible for releases like Home of Thor and Roman Bonanza) and Kitsune Gaming Studios, and Pineapple Play is the latest software provider to partner with the ever-growing studio.

Coconut Chaos does a pretty good job of capturing the carefree vibe that most of us probably associate with a tropical beach setting, and you’ll see the reels set in front of a luscious setting that really does look like paradise. There’s a stunning lagoon in the background, palm trees, mountains, and soft, untouched white sand.

Coconut Chaos Gameplay & Bonus Features

Coconut Chaos is played on a five-reel, four-row layout, and there are 14 fixed paylines in play at all times. You can stake between €0.10 and €100 per spin, and it’s classed as being a medium variance slot. The game’s default (and highest) RTP setting is 96.36%.

Now, the gameplay focuses primarily around mystery symbols and tokens. Mystery symbols can appear in both the base game and the Only the Juicy bonus round, revealing matching symbols when triggered. In the base game, they can reveal any paying symbol, but in the bonus round, they only reveal high-paying ones.

If you manage to land 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view, you’ll trigger the Only the Juicy bonus round, awarding you with 10, 15, or 20 free spins, respectively. During this feature, all of the game’s low-value symbols are removed from the reels, so only high-paying fruits and mystery symbols remain. You can also land additional scatter symbols to re-trigger the feature, up to a maximum of 100 free games!

Next, there’s the Pineapple Payday feature, which is triggered by landing 6 or more Token overlays. Doing so loads a Hold & Spin-style round where all tokens turn into coins and grant 3 respins. Each new coin resets the counter back to three. A random multiplier of 1x to 5x is also added.

When the re-spins finish, you move to the second stage, the Pineapple Payday reel, which then awards a fruit prize worth up to 100x your bet, multiplied by the total multiplier you managed to collect during the spins.

Bonus Buy

If you live in a region where bonus buys are allowed, Coconut Chaos also offers a couple of feature buy options. You can buy instant entry into Only the Juicy for 50x your base game stake, and Pineapple Payday costs 100x.

Pros

  • Win up to 10,000x your bet.
  • Decent debut release from Pineapple Play.
  • Unique two-phased bonus round.

Cons

  • Base game feels quite “slow”.
  • Mystery symbols are fairly repetitive at this point.
  • No wild symbols.

Coconut Chaos Slot Review Final Thoughts

Coconut Chaos might be the most intuitive slot machine we’ve ever seen, but it definitely squeezes plenty of juice out of a simple setup, and we can’t help but feel it’s a pretty first release from Pineapple Play. Of course, as is the case with all Hacksaw Gaming partner studios, Coconut Chaos looks pretty “similar” - the classic Hacksaw Gaming look and feel, but there’s some surprising depth in the game, especially with the two-stage bonus in Pineapple Payday.

Now, if you’re looking for totally unique mechanics, Coconut Chaos probably won’t be for you. There’s also a lack of wild symbols, and the base game isn’t the most exciting, but it is a medium variance slot, and that means the bonuses and features tend to trigger a bit more frequently, so that maximum win potential of 10,000x may be slightly closer than you think!
