Slot Overview

Clash of Gods: Anubis vs Hades is a BGaming release that’s designed around a very high variance maths model and a 5×5 grid layout. With Divine Duel Multipliers, two different Free Spins modes, Super Free Spins, and a maximum win potential of 10,000x, it looks pretty good – and mechanically, quite ambitious! How does it stack up during our testing, however? Let’s find out.

Gameplay & Bonus Features

Clash of Gods: Anubis vs Hades is played on a 5×5 grid with 15 winlines, and the RTP is above-average; 96.50%. You can bet between €0.20 and €260 per spin, and the game’s designed around a high variance maths model with a maximum win potential of 10,000x.

The game’s core mechanic is the VS symbol, and whenever it lands alongside a winning combination, it transforms into an Expanding Multiplier Wild, and the two gods duel to decide which multiplier is applied – are you recognising the mechanics from another slot yet?

The multipliers can be worth between 2x and 100x. When multiple VS symbols expand at once, the winning multipliers are added together before being applied to the win. Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters trigger the free spins feature, and you then get to choose between Anubis and Hades. Anubis free spins offer more expanding wilds, with any that do land locking in place for the duration of the feature. In Hades, you’re guaranteed at least one expanding wild on every spin – but it’s a lot more volatile.

There’s also a Super Scatter version of the feature, which is triggered when the trigger includes one super scatter symbol. In this feature, the multipliers have a minimum value of 10x.

Theme & Design

Clash of Gods: Anubis vs Hades is fairly straightforward in terms of design, but we feel that BGaming has actually done quite a good job of designing the slot. It looks good, and we like how both Egyptian and Greek themes are incorporated here.

The reels are set deep within, what looks to be the fiery pits of hell, and the reels float in the centre; it’s not overly complicated, but we feel that’s actually what makes it look so good. It’s clear, intuitive, and a lot less “busy” than some similar titles like Anubis Wrath or Gates of Hades.

Pros

  • Clean, well-executed visual design
  • Above-average RTP of 96.50%
  • Super Scatter feature offers minimum 10x multipliers

Cons

  • Blatant Zeus vs Hades clone
  • The base game can be pretty brutal
  • Triggering the Super Scatter feature naturally is tough

Final Thoughts

Clash of Gods: Anubis vs Hades is a well-made slot, but it’s simply impossible for us to review it without mentioning the elephant in the room: this is a Zeus vs Hades: Gods of War clone, and it’s not even a particularly subtle one (even if, yes, Zeus vs Hades: Gods of War itself copied a lot of elements from Hacksaw’s Dead or a Wild!)

BGaming has swapped Greek mythology for a Greek/Egyptian mashup, and yes, they have tweaked the numbers slightly, but essentially, it’s the same game, with different artwork. Now, that’s not necessarily a bad thing; the Zeus vs Hades formula works, and BGaming has done their own version fairly well, but if you’ve played Pragmatic’s original, you’re going to spend a lot of your session feeling that things are quite... familiar.

Aside from that, however, the game itself is fairly decent. The 96.50% RTP is solid, the Divine Duel Multiplier mechanic is genuinely fun when it lands well, and the choice between bonus modes is a nice touch, too. It’s also less visually cluttered than Pragmatic’s alternative, so, if you can get past the clone feeling, it’s a nifty little game that we actually quite like!
