Game Overview
Slot provider Big Time Gaming’s Christmas Megapots delivers exactly what its name advertises: a festive, feel-good Megaways slot wrapped in tinsel, but with serious payout payout. It combines BTG’s signature 117,649-way Megaways engine with Hold & Spin mechanics, three progressive-style jackpots, and an insane maximum win potential of 89,600x! Is it any good? Find out in this detailed slot review.
Theme & Design
Christmas is fast approaching, and with that comes the usual array of Xmas-themed slots. Some of these, in past years, have proven very successful; think games like Fat Santa and Christmas Carol Megaways. Others… not so much.
While it’s still too early to tell whether Christmas Megapots will end up being a success, from what we can see, the game looks pretty good, and the reels sit atop a beautifully designed Xmas backdrop complete with snow-covered pine trees and cosy-looking log cabins in the distance.
It, of course, retains Big Time Gaming’s signature look and feel, so things might look a bit dated, but it’s a good-looking slot full of Christmas vibes, and things get even more exciting when you notice the three jackpots sitting above the reels; more on those later.

Christmas Megapots Gameplay & Bonus Features
Christmas Megapots uses the game developer’s iconic Megaways mechanic, which means there can be between 2 and 7 rows per spin and up to 117,649 ways to win. Betting options range from €0.20 to €10 per spin. The game offers a slightly above-average RTP of 96.28%.
Gameplay is relatively straightforward, with simple and easy-to-understand bonuses and features. Firstly, there’s the Megapots, which includes three jackpot values; Mini, Midi, and Mega. These values are shown above the reels, and they’re won through the Hold & Spin Bonus.
This is triggered by landing six or more Gold Coins in view, and you’ll then receive 3 initial re-spins. Every time a Coin or Multiplier lands in view, it locks in place, and your re-spin counter resets back to 3.
When the respins run out, the values on the screen are combined and then any multipliers are applied before you’re awarded the total amount. To win any of the jackpots, you need to collect three matching jackpot tokens during the re-spins.
Christmas Megapots also contains a free spins bonus round, triggered by landing 3+ Bell scatter symbols in view. You then receive 12 free spins, and this is a classic unlimited free spins/multiplier feature. The multiplier increases by +1 each time a Coin lands. Because Christmas Megapots has no cascading reels mechanic, it’s the coins themselves that grow the multiplier, which is slightly unusual, we have to admit.
Feature Buy Options
There are two bonus buy options in Christmas Megapots. For 35x you can trigger the Hold & Spin Bonus, and for 100x you can buy instant entry into the main free spins bonus round.
Pros
- Massive 89,600× max win potential.
- Impressive-looking Xmas design.
- Three Megapot jackpots to win.
Cons
- No cascading reels mechanic.
- Base game feels quite “flat”.
- Non-jackpot win potential is debatable.
Christmas Megapots Slot Review Final Thoughts
Christmas Megapots may look the part, and it’s certainly an eye-catcher given its massive 89,600x maximum win potential. However, this win potential actually comes from the Megapot jackpots themselves, primarily, and we think it’s pretty unlikely to get anywhere near this without it. In other words, the game itself and the free spins bonus are unlikely to produce wins near anything close to this, so it’s a bit of an advertising gimmick.
Sure, the game looks nice, and BTG have done a good job with the presentation. Still, we can’t help but feel everything just seems a bit...bland. The fact that there’s no cascading reels mechanic makes the base game feel quite flat - and boring - and the free spins bonus introduces nothing we haven’t seen from BTG a thousand times before, except this time you have to collect coins to increase the “unlimited” win multipliers.
So, to conclude, it’s far from the worst Xmas slot we’ve reviewed, but it’s definitely not the best, and it’s probably not a game we’d recommend unless you’re specifically looking for a new Big Time Gaming Christmas-themed game to check out.
