Slot Overview

Buildin’ Even More Bucks is a 5-reel Irish-themed online slot by studio Play’n GO that is based around a magic spins and frame system, where wins up to a maximum of 5,000x the bet can be achieved

Gameplay & Bonus Features

Played on a 5×3 reel setup, Buildin’ Even More Bucks comes with a standard 243 ways to win, with payouts credited when 3 or more matching symbols land on consecutive reels in any position starting from the leftmost reel first. Players can opt in for real money with bets starting from a minimum of €0.20 up to a maximum of €50, whilst a standard RTP setting of 96% is attached to the game.

In the base game, the Double Wheel can trigger when 1 or 2 Hard Hat Scatters land. If activated, it spins the first wheel, which can award either instant cash prizes or one of the character features.

The first wheel includes smaller outcomes, along with an upgrade segment. If that lands, it unlocks the second wheel, which contains the bigger features and higher-value prizes. Instant prizes are paid immediately, while landing on a character feature starts a respin-style bonus with 6 spins and no retriggers.

During these features, the hard hat scatters that triggered the wheel set up the starting frames for the chosen character. Any additional scatters that land during the respins are added to the grid as frames.

There are three types of frames, wood, brick and gold, and they upgrade step by step as the grid fills. Once a full grid of one type is reached, it upgrades to the next level. If the grid is completely filled with gold frames and another Scatter lands, it pays a flat 100x based on your total bet.

Magic Spins & Frame System

Landing 3 or more Hard Hat Scatters triggers Magic Spins, which is the main bonus feature.

The number of scatters determines your starting setup. With 3, you begin with wooden frames; with 4, you start on brick; and with 5, you start with gold frames already in place. The grid expands to 5×5, and you’re given 6 spins to start. From there, the entire feature revolves around building and upgrading frames.

Every time a hard hat scatter lands, it either adds a new wooden frame or upgrades an existing one. Wooden frames become brick, brick becomes gold, and if a scatter lands on a gold frame, it moves to a new position and creates a fresh wooden frame instead. If the grid is full, it upgrades the lowest available frame.

There’s also an extra spins mechanic tied to Magic Coins. Landing one inside a frame awards +1 spin, and you can gain multiple extra spins in a single round, up to a maximum of 78 total spins. If the grid becomes fully gold and another Scatter lands, it triggers the same 100x payout as in the character features.

Once Magic Spins ends, all frames on the grid transform into houses, which then reveal instant prizes.

Wood frames award lower values, and brick offers mid-range payouts and access to mini and minor prizes, while gold frames unlock the highest values, including major, grand and ultra prizes.

Theme & Design

Just like the titles that came before it, Buildin’ Bucks and Buildin’ More Bucks, Buildin’ Even More Bucks takes on an Irish theme, so expect to see fairies, leprechuans, and of course, it wouldn’t be an Irish slot without a foot-tapping jingle to accompany the gameplay.

Pros

  • Prizes can be upgraded in the bonus
  • A 3rd game in the franchise
  • Irish slots remain relatively popular

Cons

  • Was a third game necessary?
  • Could the max win have been ramped up to 10k or more?
  • No bonus buy option

Final Thoughts

Whether or not a second game in this franchise was needed is debatable, but a third really does feel like overkill from Play'n GO. But, with that said, these styles of slot games have been growing in popularity, so perhaps it's just me who doesn't see the appeal here.
