Game Overview

I don’t remember playing the first Bounty Raid game by Red Tiger, but a quick Google search reveals that it was published in June 2020. The game received generally positive reviews from the major review sites, but players didn’t seem quite as impressed – you’ll be hard-pushed to find a mention of Bounty Raid outside of those initial reviews. It seemed unlikely that we would see a sequel, given that lukewarm reception, but we all know that life loves to surprise us! Bounty Raid 2 offers twice as many paylines as the original (20) as well as a 2,372x jackpot – more than double the 1000x top prize offered by the first game. The RTP of 95.68% remains roughly the same in both games.

Many of the features included in Bounty Raid 2 look to be based on the mechanics of the first game, including the five scatter-pay bandit symbols. These special symbols only pay when a Sheriff lands simultaneously, but they can also stay locked in place for up to five rounds. Each bandit has a different initial prize associated with it – ‘bandit one’ has a starting payout of between 1x and 3x the total bet, whilst has creatively named cousin ‘bandit five’ may be worth anywhere from 21x to 25x the bet. Don’t forget; you’ll need the sheriff to collect the rewards – he’ll unlock any locked bandits before he leaves, but that’s likely a price worth paying, in my view! The longer a bandit remains locked, the more it will eventually be worth, as its value will increase by up to 50% with every passing spin.

I think I must have missed the flood of games with ‘bounty’ in their title when we first reviewed them here at Demoslot; either that, or my memory is just extremely faulty today! From Fantasma Games Bounty Showdown to Snowborn’s The Bounty and Pragmatic Play’s Bounty Gold, our review library is stuffed full of games with a very similar Wild West aesthetic. Bounty Raid definitely has a triple-A vibe about it though – Red Tiger does have some of the best artists in the industry, after all – but the payouts shown on the paytable don’t look quite so impressive. Let’s dig into that now.

The highest-paying symbol is the gold bars worth 8x the total bet for a full payline of five of a kind. The bull’s head – or skull, I should say – will pay you 6x the stake for all five symbols, followed by 5x for the revolver, 4x for the canteen, and 3x for the cowboy boots. The low-paying symbols are effectively represented by playing card suits, although they have been drawn quite strangely as stacks of multiple full identical playing cards. You don’t want to get caught playing poker in the saloon holding any of those hands, my friend! Regardless, the spades have the best payout at 2.5x for a five of a kind combination, followed by 2x for the hearts, 1.5x for the diamonds, and 1x for the clubs.

As for the betting range, there’s little rhyme or reason to how Red Tiger sets those up in their slots – sometimes you get a very wide range, sometimes it’s tiny and still has very few options. Today we get minimum/maximum bets of €0.10 and €40.00 per spin, respectively, with a decent range of intermediate options.

Base Game & Modifiers

Bounty Raid 2 uses a slightly enlarged reel set with five reels containing four rows of symbols, rather than the more conventional three. Despite this, Red Tiger has still only included 20 fixed paylines – fortunately, some symbols appear in stacks which helps to prevent the game from returning too many dead spins.

Bandit & Sheriff Symbols

The bandits have initial values worth up to 3x, 10x, 15x, 20x, or 25, and this will increase by either 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, or 50% at random on every spin where they remain locked. Bandits can lock for up to five spins, and the most wanted bandit may transfer his bounty to outlaws on adjacent reels. When the sheriff symbol appears, they collect the accumulated values attached to all visible bandits.

Bounty Raid 2 Slot Bonus Features

Bounty Raid 2 Slot Bonus Round
Bounty Raid 2 slot bonus round

There’s no conventional free spin bonus round available in Bounty Raid 2, so there is no need for any triggering scatter symbols either. What we do get is a special stacked bounty hunter who appears on the third reel only – whenever she shows up, she’ll lock any visible bandits for the hold & re-spin feature.

Hold & Respin Feature

This is a three-spin feature that is played on an alternate reel set which contains only bandit symbols. You start with three ‘lives’, one of which will be lost on every spin that does not result in a bandit landing in view. When a bandit does land, you’ll have your lives counter reset back to the initial three.

If any bandits are locked when the bounty hunter appears, they will be transferred into the bonus round but lost when it completes. That will happen after you go three spins in a row without hitting any additional bandits, or the entire reel set is filled with them – whichever happens first!

Pros

  • I’ve only given the original game a brief look whilst reviewing this one, but from what I have seen, this looks to be a definitive improvement.
  • It’s easier than you might think to get on a roll with a large number of bandits on-screen firing bounties at each other and rapidly increasing their values!
  • Hold & Re-spin seems to occur relatively frequently.

Cons

  • Lower than average jackpot of less than 2,400x
  • The Hold & Re-Spin mode can sometimes be over in the blink of an eye.

Final Thoughts

Red Tiger has come up with another great-looking online slot that is great fun at first, but the appeal seems to wear off fast. I enjoyed my time playing the game for this review, but I probably won’t be going back to it anytime soon. Your mileage may vary, as they say!
