Game Overview

Book of Ganesha is an Endorphina video slot that combines a classic Book-style mechanic with a fairly unique Indian theme. Of course, there’s the infamous free spins with expanding symbols, wild/scatter Books, but there’s also a unique Sacred Hold Bonus, a Hold & Win-style respin feature. With a maximum win potential of 5,000x, it looks like a recycled “Book” game with shiny paint, but is it any good? Let’s find out.

Theme & Design

It’s actually quite surprising; given the thousands of slots we review every year, we actually had a pretty tough time thinking of any other Indian-inspired games! Of course, there are a few, but they tend to blend Indian and Middle Eastern mythology together, and it’s weirdly rare to see an actual Indian-specific-themed slot, like Book of Ganesha.

Visually, it’s a very appealing slot to look at, and the reels are situated towards the bottom of the screen, with Ganesha hovering above the reels. The background reveals a stunning palace, likely inspired by the Taj Mahal, and it’s really hard to find any fault with the design work on display here.

It’s actually a fairly refreshing break from the usual Egypt-themed book-inspired slots, and while we like Play’n GO’s Book of Dead and others, like, for example, Book of Tut Megaways, we feel this game (even if it IS another “Book” game) does a superb job of offering a totally different theme.

Book of Ganesha Gameplay & Features

Book of Ganesha is designed around a standard 5-reel, 3-row layout with 10 fixed paylines. You can bet between €0.10 and €50 per spin, and the game offers a very slightly above-average RTP of 96.03%.

Now, in the base game, you’ll notice that Coins can land on the reels. If 5 or less land, you’ll see them added to the Gold Coin Pile beneath Ganesh, and there’s a chance the Sacred Hold Bonus can trigger. You can also trigger it directly by landing 6+ Coins.

This Hold & Win-style feature awards 3 respins, resetting whenever new Coins appear. Coins carry values between 1x and 20x. There are also three fixed jackpot Coins available: Min, worth 25x, Mid, worth 50x, and Max, worth 100x. You simply keep re-spinning until you fail to land new Coins for three consecutive re-spins, or until you fill the grid; if you fill it, you win the game’s 1,000x Ultra Jackpot.

There is, of course, also a classic “Book”-style free spins feature. Triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view, this feature awards 10 free spins, with one randomly selected symbol chosen to become expanding.

Bonus Buy

Book of Ganesha offers a Bonus Buy for the free spins feature only. For 78x, you can buy instant access to 10 free spins.

Pros

  • Win up to 5,000x.
  • Free Spins Bonus + Sacred Hold Bonus.
  • Clean visuals and very refreshingly unique theme.

Cons

  • Hold & Win Bonus isn’t overly exciting.
  • Despite some plus points, it’s clearly another “Book of” game.
  • Not a lot happening in the base game.

Book of Ganesha Slot Review Final Thoughts

Book of Ganesha is a polished take on the iconic Book-style formula, and Endorphina deserves credit for bringing a totally new theme into the mix. We can’t stress this enough: while the game itself may not be overly innovative or original, we LOVE the fact that the studio has chosen to go with a totally different theme. This is precisely what the industry needs, and we love to see it, truly.

The Indian-themed presentation is superb, very detailed, and very unique, and it’s actually a really nice, respectful, and well-designed game, we feel. Now, of course, at its core, Book of Ganesha is a Book of Dead-inspired game with a Hold & Win Bonus added on, and it’s not perfect.

The maximum win potential is low (for today’s standards), at 5,000x, and the Sacred Hold Bonus doesn’t offer much in the way of excitement besides some low fixed jackpots.

However, we feel Endorphina has managed to strike a pretty good balance between familiarity and innovation. It’s not going to revolutionise the Book genre of slots, but it does look fantastic, it does contain two different bonuses and features, and it does go against the grain, which is exactly what we like to see. A solid game, on the whole.
