Book of AfricRA is played on a five-reel, three-row layout with ten fixed paylines, and there’s an RTP of 94%, which is below average. You can bet from as little as €0.10 per spin, with the maximum bet capped out at $20.
Now, in the base game, there are three Symbol Pots above the reels. Coins can land on any visible symbols and are collected into these pots, with each triggered pot activating its linked symbol for the free spins round.
Once you trigger one or more of the Symbol Pots, you’ll trigger the game’s Free Spins bonus, and each activated pot then turns on its associated symbol. During the feature, coins can continue to land and trigger additional pots, too.
Once an activated symbol appears on enough separate reels to form a win condition, those reels fill with a stacked version of that symbol before the expanded symbol then pays across all 10 paylines.
Bonus Buy
Book of AfriCA also includes a Bonus Buy mechanic if you live in a region where feature buys are allowed. For 85x you can buy the Free Spins with a random number of active symbols, and for 130x you can play Free Spins with a guaranteed high-paying active symbol.
Theme & Design
Book of AfricRA mixes Egyptian symbols with a slightly more rugged look and feel than many of the similar book-inspired slots, although, like all 4ThePlayer slots, it looks a bit clunky and, well, not quite what you’d expect to see in 2026.
The reels themselves sit on top of pyramids and temples, and there’s a glowing night sky with purple hues in the backdrop. It’s clearly designed to take inspiration from Book of Dead, but you just can’t escape the clunkiness found in all of the provider’s games, like 4K Ultra Gold.

Book of AfricRA takes a pretty recognisable slot format, if you like, and gives it a more mechanical, progression-based feature structure, and rather than relying on just one expanding symbol, it builds its free spins round around collecting and activating multiple symbols. Yes, it’s not entirely original, but it does stand out from similar book-inspired classics, in our opinion.
Now, in volatility terms, Book of AfricRA does feel like most 4ThePlayer slots do, which is, just... strange. Combine this with (something we’ve pointed out in virtually every review from this software provider) the fact that their games just feel very clunky, dated, and not smooth...
And it becomes a toss-up of whether it’s a game you should check out or not. Yes, if you enjoy book-style slots but want something with a bit more going on beneath the surface, Book of AfricRA could be worth a look. Still, it’s hard to look past the low RTP and mostly familiar game mechanics, in our opinion.
