Game Overview
I can’t say my piggy bank ever amounted to much when I was younger! Occasionally, I would save up for a new game or something like that, but those few times aside, it would typically only contain enough for a can of pop, a bag of sweets, and some crisps or chocolate… let’s hope that Inspired’s Big Piggy Bank slot can do a little bit better than that! This is a ten-line machine, a statistic that can often mean good things regarding the regular line wins. Unfortunately, developers Inspired have yet to confirm if there is a cap on winnings other than €250,000 – this could suggest a jackpot of 2,500x based on the maximum bet, but it’s often the case that working things out this way leads to inaccurate results. Meanwhile, the 94.50% RTP is less than the industry average – not the best start to proceedings.
I always can’t help but laugh at the irony of Inspired’s slots being so heavily… well, inspired by their competitor’s games, but, alas, that is once again the case here. This time around, the collection feature that is common to so many fishing slots has been included in the Big Piggy Bank online slot, but – thank the lord – the developers have decided to make the feature active during both the base game and the bonus round. The cash symbols that the piggy bank can collect can be worth up to 100x the current stake, and we also get wild symbols on reels two, three, and four. You’ll need at least four piggy banks plus a bonus symbol on reel five to win a bonus round, where jackpot tokens hold the keys to the game’s four jackpot prizes. Unfortunately, Inspired neglected to tell us exactly how much those prizes are right now, which seems like a rather glaring omission to me.
Still, if you fancy some pig-themed slotting entertainment this evening, you could do much worse than a few rounds of our free Big Piggy Bank slot! It’s available to play below.
Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
When it comes to slots based around pigs, there are already endless options to choose from – we’ve even had offshoots such as Slingo Piggy Bank by now, and you’ll find plenty of parodies such as Piggy Blinders and straight-up no-nonsense pig-based action such as that provided by Playtech’s Piggies and the Bank. Sometimes these games can be fun, and sometimes they seem a little bit cheap and uninspired, but it would be a little ironic to call an Inspired slot about pigs uninspired, wouldn’t it? I almost feel like I should do it anyway! One thing’s for sure, there’s nothing particularly outstanding about this machine, and as we’re about to discover with the payouts, it doesn’t exactly rank well compared to other ten-line games either.
See, the highest-paying symbols are the Dollar Signs, which also have a token payout for two symbols, but they only pay 20x the total bet for a full payline of five of a kind. Then you have the Briefcase symbol – only 15x for all five of those. The Gold Bars return 10x, the Stacks of Cash have a return of 5x, and that’s it as far as the high-paying symbols are concerned. As for the low-paying royal symbols, we only get 2x the bet for any of those, from the Aces right down to the tens. It’s a disappointing state of affairs for a ten-line game, with the only redeeming feature here being that the piggy bank symbols do appear in stacks – it seems those are your route to winning big here, not the regular line hits.
At least there is nothing to complain about regarding the betting range – you can play for as little as €0.10 per spin or as much as €100.00, and plenty of other permitted wagers are in between the two limits.
Base Game & Modifiers
There are two main games in Inspired Gaming’s Big Piggy Bank slot – the default game plus the Fortune Spins version, which costs the same to play but operates quite differently. Inspired has been adding these types of features to their slots ever since the UK Gambling Commission outlawed Bonus Buy Facilities, and a cynic may well suggest this is a sneaky way of dodging regulations!
Both modes use a five-reel, three-row layout, however, and both operate with ten paylines – the difference is in the reel strips. We’ll talk more about the Fortune Spins mode in a moment:
Piggy Bank Cash Symbols
These special symbols appear in stacks and can be worth 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 20x, 30x, 50x, or 100x each. You’ll need a collect symbol (or a bonus symbol) on reel five to collect the prizes, but this is still preferable to all fishing slots where the cash symbols are completely useless during the base game!
Fortune Spins
Activating the Fortune Spins mode doesn’t affect the RTP as far as the information pages are concerned, although I find that hard to believe. Perhaps it has just been very well designed though. In this mode, the standard reels are replaced with new strips that contain only piggy banks, blanks, collector symbols, and bonus scatters. Landing four or more cash symbols plus a bonus entry symbol will win you entry to the same Golden Bank Free Spins as the regular game, and the piggy bank symbols retain the same values listed in the section above.
Big Piggy Bank Slot Bonus Features
Whilst most online slots require you to hit three or more scatters to access their bonus rounds, this machine instead asks that you hit a piggy bank on reels one through four, plus a collector or bonus symbol on reel five. Manage this, and you will win eight free spins.
Free Spins Feature
The big difference in this part of the game is that there are now four jackpot tokens added to the reels – collecting three MINI tokens will win you the corresponding jackpot, and you’ll need four MINOR, five MAJOR, or six GRAND tokens to win those prizes. Unfortunately, these values are not explained anywhere either inside the game or on the Inspired website – The game specifies that these are not progressive jackpots and that you can win them multiple times.
Pros
- Two different base games to explore and experiment with.
- Jackpots can be won multiple times.
- The cash money symbols can be collected in the base game – hurrah!
Cons
- Poor quality documentation
- Uninspiring theme… yes, I said it!
- Below average RTP of just 94.5%
Big Piggy Bank Slot Review Final Thoughts
The Big Piggy Bank slot is certainly not a game I'd see myself playing that much. However, Inspired has a huge following in land-based UK establishments, so if this slot finds its way onto a betting terminal at any stage, I'd expect it to be fairly popular with the masses.
