Game Overview

People often confuse the two frozen expanses of planet Earth located to the extreme north and south. However, I can tell you that the Antarctic lies at the bottom of the world and is a genuine continent, whilst the Arctic is just a frozen mass of seawater located at the earth’s northern tip. Today, we’re heading off to explore one of these places and indulge in a bit of whale spotting courtesy of provider Push Gaming. The slot is called Big Bite, and it features a potential maximum win of 10,000x, along with several RTP options that top out at 96.33%.

Being the nature nerd that I am, I’ve been searching for clues in the graphics of this slot to determine which pole we find ourselves at. Judging by the number of penguins to be seen, I will hazard a guess at the Antarctic, as they do not live at the North Pole. Anyway, getting back to the slot action, we’ve got a 5×3 grid with ten fixed paylines to work with and the inevitable fishing mechanic where any cash or jackpot values that land in conjunction with a killer whale symbol are collected. There are some impressive numbers to be found here, too, with the biggest fish weighing in at 1,000x and the top jackpot amount coming in at a whopping 10,000x! During the free spins round, things get even more exciting, with the game grid expanding to a size of 5×5 and multiplier values of up to x10 coming into play, along with the chance to trigger additional free spins for reaching certain milestones.

I’ve been having a whale of a time testing this slot, and I’ve especially been enjoying its numerous bonus buy options. A major aspect I’ve noticed is that the multiplier in the free spins game is applied to jackpot values and the standard cash amounts, which presents some great win potential. Why not give it a few spins yourself? The Big Bite demo slot is available below, and it’s completely free to play!

Big Bite Slot Paytable

The orca whale appears as the main character in Big Bite, but did you know they are not really whales? They are actually the largest member of the dolphin family. Who would win in a fight between one of these black and white beasts and a great white shark? Well, there’s only one way to find out, fire up Push Gaming’s original Razor Shark free play slot or its sensational sequel Razor Returns demo here on our site and make your own judgment. Or, if you’d prefer a more relaxing angling experience, there are dozens of games featuring a similar mechanic to today’s review in our fishing slots section. Feel free to make your way over there and have a browse, but before you do, why not stick with me here, as I’ll be reeling in all the details of the features of Big Bite next. See you over at the pays section.

With just the ten paylines on offer in the base game, I’m hoping we’ll see some high-value symbols on the paytable to compensate. The place for the top spot is shared by the Wild and Boat Captain, both of which will return 200x the total stake value per line of five. Next up, it’s the Walrus and Penguin characters, who share payouts 100x, and these are followed by the Compass at 50x. The lower value premium offerings are the Bottle and the Boot, with equal pays of 35x, whilst the non-premium symbols featured are the Spade, Heart, Diamond, and Club, all of which will return 5x the staked amount per line of five matching symbols.

We have a good range of stakes to select from on Big Bite, with the possibilities starting at a low of €0.10 and rising to a high end of €100.00. There are just 12 values in total, and some players may prefer to have seen a few more options included, but overall, there should be a comfortable entry point for most punters here.

Base Game & Modifiers

Big Bite Slot Base Game
Big Bite slot base game

In standard base gameplay, Big Bite uses a five-reel grid, with three row positions on each and ten fixed paylines. Line pay wins are achieved by matching at least three symbols from left to right, commencing on the leftmost reel, except the wild and boat captain symbols, which will return a small payout for just two symbols. There is no cascading reels feature to be seen here, with symbols staying fixed even if involved in a winning combination, and the wild symbol will substitute for any pay table symbol.

Fish Symbols

Fish symbols can land in any row on reels 2, 3, and 4 in both the base and bonus games. Each one will have a randomly selected stake multiplier value attached to it from one of the following possibilities: 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 100x, 250x, 500x, or 1,000x.

Jackpot Symbols

Jackpot symbols can land in any row position on reels 2, 3, or 4 in any game mode and will have one of the following stake multiplier jackpot values attached to them:

  • Mini: 15x.
  • Minor: 35x.
  • Major: 350x.
  • Mega: 1,500x.
  • Grand: 10,000x

Orca Symbol

The orca symbol appears on reels 1 and 5 in the base and bonus games. If an orca symbol lands in conjunction with one or more fish or jackpot symbols, it will collect their values and pay the accumulated total as a win. If an orca symbol lands on reels 1 and 5, both orcas will collect the symbols, doubling the win. If the orca has a multiplier value attached, this will be applied to the value of any prizes collected. If the grand jackpot lands in conjunction with an orca, no other fish or jackpot values will be collected, and no multipliers will be applied, as the top win of 10,000x will have been achieved.

Push Bet

Players willing to pay a small premium to increase their chances of landing a bonus may enjoy the Push Bet feature, where the chance to trigger the free spins game is raised by 61% for an additional cost of 20% of the selected stake value on each spin.

Big Bite Slot Review Final Thoughts

Despite the whale theme, this is another fishing-style game, and it uses the popular tried and tested mechanism used in countless other similar slots, such as those seen in the likes of Big Bass Megaways and its vast series of games.I like the orca theme and the icy environment where the action takes place, but the graphical presentation is far from fantastic. Gameplay wise, it's very well constructed, and the values of pay symbols, cash values, and jackpot amounts are all nice and strong. Overall, it does what it sets out to do and is above average in its category.
